  1. My biggest problem is this looks less like a building and more like a drunk suburban father's attempt to put together his daughter's discount playhouse. Seriously, could they not even bother to keep a consistent color to the exterior walls? It amazes me that they went to great lengths to capture the angles of the wardrobes design but couldn't be bothered to make the castle look any more like the source material than that. I understand there's scale issues when fitting something into a particular price point but they at least could have gotten the basic shape right (Even Arrendale castle can claim it mantained a similar style and shape). Beyond the likeness problems I would also like to say I'm disappointed that the building strategy still consists of using the largest pieces possible to build the core structure with most detail being added by use of sticker. Could they seriously not be bothered to even build windows from actual bricks? And the roof is just lazy. It's not like they don't produce a roof piece in the spire style, if they were dying to use big pieces for the build they at least could have chosen ones that worked for the style of the building. The figures are decent. Belle and Beast are passable. The wardrobe, Mrs. Potts, Chip and Lumiere are pretty good, in fact I rather like how they turned out. Lumiere might have benefited from a molded piece for the main body, his size is a bit too large as a result. Cogsworth and the feather duster are pretty lazy, both scale and shape is not working for me. Every year I get excited for these sets and every year I end up disappointed when they're revealed. There's always so much potential, they're great IP's after all, and yet that potential remains mostly untapped. I almost feel compelled to redesign it right now, it just could have turned out so much better!
  2. Do we have a release date for these sets yet?
  3. ASM wasn't part of the MCU, so there wasn't much of a reason to make sets for it. Even still they produced a Spider-Man variant (Comic-Con) and Electro from that series. As for the next movie it will be part of the MCU, so odds are decent we'll see a tie in of some sort.
  4. Don't feel wrong, the Marvel universe is overrun with female heroes with spider powers, Lego simply chose wrong. It's seriously a blast from the past seeing the USM version of her, I had completely forgotten she existed in that universe at all (Which can't be a good sign). Out of all the versions of her they could have done this is really one of the most boring choices they could have made, she's had better costumes elsewhere. I feel like they did this version just because it had easy printing (Like Iron Spider this minifigure kind of seems to exist on the cheap end of printing). Or maybe they just wanted to keep the Comic Con version of her exclusive and intentionally chose to make a different version of her. Either way her appearance is kind of meh.
  5. Doesn't look like anyone's in the taxi unfortunately (At least it appears that way in the close-ups). The lack of Gwen is seriously puzzling. I'm hoping she shows up in a polybag or in an exclusive of some sort (Whether it be by set, DVD or book). She's becoming a more and more obvious hole in the Spider-man line-up, especially now that we have her father of all people. Makes me a bit paranoid, it seems like she has to show up sooner or later. I almost want to suggest she's in that fourth Civil War set, maybe she's had a cameo in that movie all along and that's where she's been hiding. Granted that's really unlikely. So I'll just go back to hoping for polybags...
  6. Honestly, these sets don't do much for me. More bat vehicles disappoints me. I mean they're well designed, but I have no use or interest in them. Croc's vehicle looks unfinished. Scarecrow's vehicle is good. I really like the tractor though. I like all the minifigures, but admittedly this feels like a small line-up. Adding more Suicide Squad members is welcome and appreciated. BTAS variation of Scarecrow is awesome. I don't know, it just feels like we're missing something big. Maybe it's the lack of Raven.
  7. I wouldn't exactly say these sets are overrated. They are the best Spider-man sets we've ever gotten, but that wasn't really a challenge given the absolute trash that nearly all the previous Spider-man sets have been.
  8. Odd that they didn't bother to use the actual egg pieces for that birds nest. Also it's a bit lazy that they couldn't make a new torso for Aunt May. Scorpions tail is kind of odd. Green Goblin is awesome, looks the same shade of green (Which is fine), but the magenta really makes this minifigure near perfect to me. Hobgoblin is equally awesome. Both of the gliders are a bit weird, maybe too bulky, but pretty close to what I was wanting. It seems a little lazy that they couldn't recolor the black part on the front of both to actually match their gliders color scheme, the black just stands out too much. Didn't particularly need another mech, but most of the minifigures are pretty good. Captain Stacy seems maybe a little phoned in like Aunt May, but then again there's nothing too special about the way either of those characters look. The lack of Gwen is puzzling. I'm not sure how her father got in there before she did. I guess if they wanted a named police character for Spidey then that was pretty much the only option, otherwise his inclusion doesn't make much sense. Perhaps his appearance here hints at a future appearance for Gwen, maybe in a polybag or some unannounced exclusive. Glad to see so much dual molding on the legs, makes the possibility of Gwen in her classic trench coat that much more possible.
  9. That's true, I didn't even recognize her right off the bat and I read the Ultimate comics. At the same time it's odd that a character in head to toe red was mistaken for two characters that dress in head to toe black and white. What we're actually getting is way different than any of the reports described. I'm almost guessing her red costume is what people we're remembering for Scarlet Spider, hence the Kaine/Reilly mix-up. It's an absolute bummer we're getting no Gwen in any form. I mean we have a Brooklyn Bridge set with a comic correct Goblin, she's the missing piece...
  10. Ultimate Spider-Woman. Just wow, none of the reports actually got that one right. Odd choice. Decent looking set overall. Might need to mod it a bit. Goblin looks great. It might be the lighting but it looks like they changed the purple color to the right shade. Didn't like the dark purple the Junior one used, so this is welcome. Also BOOTS! BOOTS! Finally! Hooray! A proper Green Goblin. I'm hoping there's one more minifigure in the taxi, feels like this could use one more.
  11. Again, too much conflicting information for me. The good people over at Brickset seemed to think it could have been her, you don't. For now I'll just wait for more descriptions and actual photographs rather than playing that game of deciding who to believe.
  12. Good point. Anyways I cringe just thinking about Lego trying to line up all those white lines that run the length of her costume. I can't imagine that printing lining up all that well across a minifigures arms, torso, hip and legs. At least in my experience I rarely get minifigures that manage to have perfectly aligned printing.
  13. I agree, he spent too many hours in that awful costume to not get on the list.
  14. Well, no need to anger their brick built overlords. I guess that even from Billund they can force choke people now. Oh, how their power has grown. I wonder what type of fit Lego will be throwing when information and pictures drop tomorrow? Maybe they'll build giant Lego mechs to take down the internet. I'm hoping the bridge set does turn out as good as previously described. Its taken years for a decent line of Spider-man sets, but we may finally have it.
  15. Wyldestyle's hood would be able to do that easily, after all they managed to print her hair on it. I wouldn't expect the other down hood piece for her though, her hair is likely too long for that. At this point I've heard too much conflicting information on both of these minifigures and can't decide what to believe. All I can say is that if it's not Gwen then Lego is seriously misreading their customers. That's an absurd move on their part. Likely more information will drop in a few days, why take down descriptions? It will buy them a few hours at the most. The next toy fair starts tomorrow and that's the one pictures leak from.
  16. It's too bad we haven't gotten an answer to the hair color question in regards to Spider-Girl. That would pretty much solve the issue of which character it is. On the plus side there's not long to wait until the next toy fair. So we'll probably get more answers soon enough.
  17. Anya Corazon's Spider-Girl has hair, so it could be her. Spider-Gwen sometimes takes off her hood, (it's possible there's an alt head and hood similar to how Captain Marvel was done) so it could be her too. The other detail that we know about this minifigure is that the costume contains white. This makes it likely that it's either Anya or Gwen as both of their costumes feature white detailing. I'm currently leaning towards Gwen since her costume contains more white between the two options (She would have a white torso, arms and head whereas Anya would only have a spider symbol and a few lines).
  18. I have to say if the bridge is any where near as good as described I'll put off buying the 66 Batcave for a long while and buy two of the bridges. Hopefully this is a June release, I'd hate to wait until August to get the Spider-man sets like we did last year. It's too bad there's no new Spidey variant so far. In all these years I'm surprised they never updated Spidey to actually match his USM appearance which had a darker color scheme. Hopefully the fourth Civil War set will give us a new variant. Really from these descriptions my one complaint is the lack of Gwen (her trench coat appearance is necessary to complete #121) , but if we get Spider-Gwen I'll be pacified for a while longer.
  19. Color of the hair would pretty much confirm it if someone could ask him. Blonde for Gwen and Brown for Anya. Either is far better than the USM one which is the exact same costume that Spidey wears. If it is Gwen hopefully they included an extra head and hood, that would be awesome. Also if it's Gwen it suddenly makes a lot more sense how Captain Stacy got into a set, as I never expected him to make the cut.
  20. No Gwen Stacy, but her father is there? Is it possible that this version of Spider-girl is Spider-Gwen?
  21. I could see them throwing a movie version of him into a comic set, I just wouldn't expect any sets to be strictly based on the movie. We did get a Beware the Batman Batmobile and Batman in a regular set, so I don't think it's impossible to see a movie design pop up as an individual element in a set.
  22. I would have no problem with it if it weren't for the fact that Star-lord and Bucky exist in the same universe...
  23. I'm beginning to wonder if Lego has a limit as to how many new heads they can produce. It seems like we're seeing a lot of re-uses. At times I don't mind it when it fits a character, but even then it wouldn't hurt to provide a new facial expression for them. Black Widow and Scarlet Witch certainly could have used a few more expressions. Using the Chris Pratt head for a third time is really pretty lazy though. I could understand it for character's he actually played, but using it for Bucky is just lazy in the worst way (And it was already pretty lazy that they used it so many times for Chris Pratt without any variation).
  24. I'll be swapping Star-lord and Caps hair immediately and then they'll both be perfect. That new hairpiece just about matches the hair on Star-lords mask, so I just can't resist. I can't quite tell if Scarlett Witch has a new face or not.
  25. Looking closely at the catalog pics again I think I do see it trailing behind her.
