  1. Maybe their eyes turn red when doing evil things, but are normal when they're just doing penguin things (like posing for posters).
  2. Bob's Burgers is a favorite show of mine, so I decided to take a crack at it and see what their apartment/restaurant might look like in Lego form. This was actually going to be an Ideas submission too, because why not. Funnily enough it didn't pass inspection because it's based on an IP that isn't suitable by Lego standards. As much as I love Lego as a company I find that completely laughable as Bob's Burgers is a TV-PG show, the same rating the Simpsons carries. It's even more ridiculous when you consider that the Big Bang Theory is a TV-14 show and currently has a Lego Ideas set sitting on shelves. This is to say nothing of the PG-13 movies that have been turned into Lego sets (Lest we all forget Red Harrington the brothel owner featured in set 79108!). Granted Bob's Burgers does on occasion push the envelope, but I don't really think anymore than the Simpsons or Big Bang does.
  3. This one is likely a factory reject, there's quite a bit of misprinting on here. The printed creases look faded and maybe smudged (especially around the buttons) and the black line on the left side of the torso is mostly gone like it rubbed off. I'd guess the seller grabbed a few of the ones that didn't pass quality standards in the factory. Nice cuff printing on the arms though.
  4. I think, for many, it's acceptable because of the current culture. Customized minifigures are in a way like fan art. It is a common occurrence for artists to create and sell items based off of popular IPs. For example custom movie posters/prints are really popular right now. Yes, they're benefiting from someone else's property, but the production of these items is usually so limited that most of these rights holders don't care. Some even encourage it just to draw even more attention to the property. It's not acting in accord to the law, but as a culture it's been accepted. Actually, when you look at the site guidelines it specifies "Manufacturers". So, custom minifigures are just as permitted as they ever have been. The new guidelines apply to discussion and promotion of companies who mass produce stolen products.
  5. I recently stumbled across an old MOC I'd done of Crime Alley and decided to share it. For these shots I was particularly focused on lighting and framing. I also was wanting to improve my photoshopping skills and the faces looked too cheery originally given the circumstances. So hopefully they look a bit more appropriate now. The alleyway was created by replacing the bricks on the side of the Palace Cinema with profile bricks.
  6. I'm hoping that we get a couple of fun packs for this down the line. Tails and Knuckles just look so awesome.
  7. I really like Poison Ivy's face. It reminds me of the Uma Thurman version, which is of course an over the top and ridiculous version of Poison Ivy, but perfect for a comedy. Joker's face I'm kind of split on. I think the teeth are too much, the rest works for me though.
  8. I think you're right, it looks a lot like colored marker. Which, given that this is the same universe as TLM, that actually makes quite a bit of sense.
  9. Since his coattails are a separate piece he actually wouldn't need back printing. So, I wouldn't be surprised if this was the final figure.
  10. I could believe these are early sketches/concepts of minifigures used in the movie. Interestingly Red Hood's helmet is the same as Mr. Freeze. It's interesting that out usual sources aren't saying it's fan made. Merely that it's not the CMF...
  11. Another couple of renders: I was excited that the egg mold had been added to LDD, so I obviously had to do some new renders. While I was at it Veruca got a significant update. New torso decal and the tutu piece in red. I've been uncertain about her minifigure design, but now I think I have the right mix of pieces for her. Violet got an upgrade too, I wanted her to be able to be posed in more ways, so I added some more pieces so she can sort of roll over. I decided to recreate a scene from the movie just to make it feel more complete (And to celebrate getting 172 supporters!).
  12. That's an interesting thought. I mean, yes, this is a company profiting from somebody else's designs, but the trade off is that the designers do get to see their creation fully realized in the flesh. It sucks they aren't getting paid for them, but if the stolen set was a rejected Ideas project, than they weren't getting paid anyways. Granted, not all designers will feel that way, after all it was their hard work and creativity staked in that project, so not getting the credit or the profit is undoubtedly frustrating. Ethics and legalities aside, I can see both sides of the argument as being valid. As for the clones of officially released Lego sets, that's a bit more black and white for me. But I can see why people buy them, especially the older sets. I can't really say I blame them or judge them for it. It's the company I hold responsible. As for whether we should discuss clones on this forum, I'm not exactly seeing a reason why not. We are in the community section after all and that offers a pretty wide latitude for discussion. However, I do think that perhaps linking to the sites that sell these may be something that the mods might consider not allowing. I think at that point it strays into endorsing it, which is probably not good for our forums, if anything at an appearance level. I could see Lego not liking that long-term. Discussion of counterfeit products is one thing, helping ease the purchase of said products through linking is another.
  13. It's definitely not the Disney dress piece, it's not that short. It does match the ridges of the tutu piece, but it does look a bit thinner than that piece, so I'm not for sure. I really like this design. I wasn't a fan of the new hair piece, but on this variation it works. Too, it's like a perfect combo of so many different Harley Quinn's.
  14. Did anyone notice this? Harley Quinn has another costume. This one seems to have a new skirt mold. This is like my favorite Harley variation now.
  15. Nope, if you look in the center of that room you can see that the wall has a window and a gray phone.
  16. Honestly, I like the new Arkham better than the old and I loved the old one. It just feels superior to me. It just feels like more space and more going on inside. In addition to cells we have a cafeteria, a prison visitation area, spotlights, guard tower, X-ray machine, a balcony, two offices, a basketball area and a laundry room. That's a lot of stuff. And the best part is the BTAS vibe this design has, especially with the glass cells, the laundry room (I'm remembering the episode where Harley get's stuck in a washing machine) and the recreation areas.
  17. I'm just now realizing that's an X-ray machine in the Arkham set. That's actually a pretty neat function. You put a minifigure on there, slide the platform and it shows the minfigures skeleton. The only thing I'd change is the trans panel, they should have created it with two grey panels and one trans panel. So I'll be changing that, otherwise though it's awesome. With Arkham I really can't help but love the mini builds as much as the main build. The weights, cafeteria stuff and the police car are all really well done.
  18. Awesome sets. Batcave is a bit underwhelming, I might just pick up the minifigures. Vehicles are meh. The cave itself is a little bare. Love Mr. Freeze. Kind of wish his head was white though. Granted the proper dome makes up for everything. I like the wall build, it's so simple, but it just looks nice to me. That Arkham though. It's so good, it's so much more fleshed out than the previous versions. It looks like there's a decent amount of interior space. It's actually kind of for the better this is coming along now, I can convert the old one into the GCPD instead. Those minifigures are so gloriously awesome though. I love what they did with all of them, best part is that most of them are new and unique. That Harleen Quinzel is plainly awesome, I mean the dual molding and the new bun piece in a new color, plus the detailed print. I am just blown away by the effort and the detail. From the mini builds to the minifigures, it just works for me.
  19. Yeah, it's pretty insufferable, all that complaining about not getting minifigure versions. If those people had done any research they'd have found that 5 of the 9 mini-dolls included here have already had minifigure variations (multiple variations at that). While mini-dolls aren't my preference, I actually find these sets to be quite respectable looking. They didn't use excessive amounts of pink. They actually gave the villain an angry expression (which is shocking for a mini-doll). And they gave them action oriented set builds with vehicles and weapons when they could have just as easily made these characters shop at the mall. At this point, all those Twitter users are judging is the use of more humanoid looking figures. Apparently crime-fighting isn't acceptable in the building block world if you happen to even somewhat resemble a human. There's no pleasing the internet. Do we know if any of the new hairpieces are hard plastic?
  20. I really like the Batgirl set. I'll likely be changing out the lavender pieces, but otherwise I really like it. Even the Batgirl design doesn't look too bad. I actually like the hairpiece. The Harley Quinn set doesn't look too good. That new hairpiece is actually kind of hideous. It doesn't even look like it fits her head right... The building is okay, but a bit on the bland side. The school is meh, kind of weird, I'll reserve final judgement for when I see the inside. The figures aren't bad, but the hairpieces are kind of awkward looking.
  21. I wouldn't get too discouraged yet. Massive glitches have become increasingly common for DLC stuff in the past few years. It's kind of to be expected when your trying to shove a massive amount of new content into an old game. Eventually they'll patch everything and it'll be fine.
  22. I'm guessing these problems are because they pulled the lines directly from the movies. Isolating the voice track from the background music and sound effects can be a messy process with a lot of less than stellar results, so the echo you're hearing is likely related to that. Too, I'm guessing that as a result of this process they're losing the more subtle inflections of the line reads, hence the more emotionless reading. This is why I'm not exactly a fan of taking the dialogue directly from the movie, the results are always mixed. The dialogue for the older movies in the JW game was incredibly hit or miss. At times I'd almost prefer a sound a like actor instead.
  23. So Lego uploaded this today. It appears to be a trailer for an animated DTV that Lego is releasing at some point. It seems like kind of weird timing given how long it's been since the movie came out, but I still see those sets selling and being restocked, so perhaps the popularity and demand is there. Makes me wonder if Lego is planning on putting out more sets or something. If this is a DTV, perhaps we'll get an exclusive minifigure (I can only hope if we get anything it's from JP).
  24. I like the bunker, it looks really fleshed out and complete. The speeder updates are good, but a bit underwhelming. The minifigures are pretty plain, but I might get this for the Tusken Raider. I hope C3PO ends up getting updated printing. The Skiff looks pretty awesome, a definite buy for me. The Sarlaac is maybe a bit blocky to me, but at the same time an upgrade from the last version.
