  1. I wish I had a Larry to trade you for one of those Where are my Pants Guys. Only spare I have is Scribble Bad Cop so far.
  2. True that. I managed to find President Business and Abe Lincoln at that same Walmart, since the person who opened the packets left a lot of unopened packs hidden behind some Mega Bloks CoD sets. There was another Bad Cop, but I didn't want to be greedy so I put the other packets back in the display. But I'm definitely going to look for the other figures. I am dying for Where are my Pants Guy and Larry the Barista. The others I can take or leave, but definitely those two guys above all else.
  3. I have the Obi-Wan hair, but it's black instead of brown (Though doesn't the doctor in the Flying Flusher Lego Movie set have it in brown?) and that gun might be a bit hard to get a hold of, since I haven't seen it since the 2008 Batman sets. I haven't seen the POTC cook head, so I can't judge him, but I'm liking how Bilbo or even Pippen's head looks on him. Not a complete custom, but has anyone else used the CMF graduate robe on Nick Fury as a purist trenchcoat?
  4. I saw the little shorts myself and yeah, they're cute, but my favorite's honestly the Iron Man short. It's funny, heartwarming, and adorable, and awesome all at once, plus the little minifig's "homemade" Iron Man suit is extremely cute. That said, Batman and Superman's shorts were nice too, since Supes had that Lego vibe in rebuilding the phonebooth for him to change, but the Batman one was a little weak and again, a little sad that we've yet to get a new Alfred.
  5. Okay, so I was working on some purist figures, and I'm wanting to make a good Agent Coulson. So far I have Bilbo's head and Lex Luthor's body, but I'm stuck on the hair. I want to use Emmet's but I want him to look similar to his Lego Marvel appearance. Any ideas on a better head or hairpiece? Maybe some ideas on his gun?
  6. I'm loving that X-Men set. Instant buy for me, certainly. My only complaint is that Storm doesn't have her tiara, but it's not a deal breaker by any means, though Cyclops does look a little awkward without any hair. Easy fix, I suppose. Also, that Sentinel must be one of the first Lego mechs to have knee joints, unless I'm missing something. That alone is worthy of some praise. And I too welcome gender diversity with the Superhero range. So far the only female hero I have is Wonder Woman, so Storm, no matter what variation, is welcome in my book.
  7. Yeah, I may have screwed up there. Scribble Face is part of the CMF, but the regular Bad Cop/Good Cop's in the set. Only other difference is Bad Cop's facial expression, Good Cop/Scribble Face, and the set Bad Cop has back printing. Sorry for the confusion. But yeah, I looked up Cloud Cuckoo Palace on Shop at Home and it's sold out. It's insane, these sets are a LOT more popular than I anticipated.
  8. Oh yeah, that makes sense. I got in a conversation with someone stocking shelves at that same Walmart about this whole thing and she said that the sets have literally flown off the shelves, especially if they have The Lego Movie connection. The only sets that had multiples were the 2-in-1 sets (Flying Flusher, Ice Cream Machine) and all that remained of the minifigs were the lone Scribble Cop I nabbed, and in a way I'm glad I got him.
  9. I mean, it sucks hardcore, but I normally buy my minifigs online anyway, so it's no big loss. Plus I needed a Bad Cop without blowing $35 on his set and yet another Emmet.
  10. I finally saw a display at my Walmart, but as per usual, there were only two empty packs that have been scalped. It was like a war zone, but I managed to find a Scribble Face Bad Cop, so I'm happy I at least got one, though I was really hoping for Where are my Pants Guy or Larry the Barista, maybe even President Business. Oh well, maybe they'll get a new shipment, unless this is a one-and-done deal.
  11. I'm loving these guys, especially Thing. Any way you might do an Abomination in the future? I can't wait to see how Arkham Croc and Clayface turn out. Stellar work!
  12. TLM doesn't really scream superhero to me. Sure there are some in the film like Batman and Green Lantern, but a lot of them have already been made in some form. It'd work for a separate thread I feel, but interesting idea nonetheless.
  13. Nice ones as always, Oky! If I may, I'ma throw my increasingly jaded hat into the ring with this:
  14. Alas, my first actual contribution to the thread! I have his chains, but I was too lazy to get them for the picture, and yes I embellished a bit in Photoshop for his flames. :P
  15. If you want a personal experience here, I noticed at my Walmart that the Lego aisle was, for all intents and purposes, barren and full of empty spaces, when before the movie they were fully stocked. Some of the movie sets were still there (Bad Cop's Pursuit, Flying Flusher, Ice Cream Machine) but cheaper sets like Cloud Cuckoo Land, Melting Room, and Getaway Glider were sold out. Most of the sets outside of the movie left were some of last year's superhero stuff like the Dark Knight set and most of the Chima sets. It seemed that anything having to do with the movie was sold in a flash (Except the Dark Knight set since I guess it's a different Batman from the movie). Not very surprising, as it certainly made me want to bust out my sets and play with them again.
  16. I'd personally like a nice Sherlock/detective based theme, but I'm not sure how it'd appeal to kids unless it was an offshoot of the City Police line, but set in a different time period (Victorian or early 20th century). I think a film noir-inspired theme would be awesome, and Lego could do it if some of the Indiana Jones sets of yore can attest to (The Shanghai Chase for instance), with some of the classic car designs and some of the minifigures. They even made a 40s gangster CMF back in series 5 (One of the best figs of that series IMO), so really aside from kid appeal and maybe concerns over violence, I think the theme could go far.
  17. I know what you mean. The biggest set I saw for The Lego Movie was the Flying Flusher (Which is a Wally World exclusive, IIRC), but no Lord Business' Lair. They had plenty of Getaway Gliders, Melting Rooms, Cloud Cuckoo Palaces, and Bad Cop Pursuits on the shelves, along with the new Ninjago and Chima stuff. Very odd, but maybe it's a blessing in disguise, so I don't splurge on the set the first time I see it.
  18. My favorite is probably either Power Armor Lex or Arkham Asylum for DC, and for Marvel, easily Wolverine's Chopper Chase. All have great minifigs, superb builds, and the best bang for your buck. However, out of all of those, I'm going with Arkham, on the grounds that you barely get any locations in any of these sets, so to have a rather important locale in the Batman universe is good enough, but even the vehicle and minifig selection are top notch.
  19. I don't think they're all that bad. They were the first Lego reviewers I've seen on YouTube and they do their job. Their style's corny, yes, but that's part of the charm, and honestly, I think they do a decent job showing off a set and the minifigures. That said, there are definitely better reviewers on YouTube and even here on Eurobricks who go more in-depth with things (Like new pieces or interesting build techniques) than TBS, but I really don't see why some folks hate them with a burning passion. My only big gripe with them is a gripe I have with a lot of YouTube reviewers: They never really point out any flaws aside from personal ticks (Like the Mines of Moria only having 4 members of the Fellowship), which makes me think they're giving an advertisement without pointing things out that need to have attention called to them. Other than that, they seem like decent guys who love Lego just as much as we do, and that's surely not a bad thing at any rate.
  20. I think I will get it next time I see it. Either that or Lord Business' lair, which for some reason isn't at my Walmart, but all of the other sets are. Strange.
  21. I already made a post about the set earlier, but I'll repeat myself: I love that set. Three solid minifigs (My first Emmet, though definitely not my last), a substantial build considering the price and amount of pieces, and IMO definitely worth the price of admission. What I'd like to know is if Cloud Cuckoo Palace is a good set. I know there's a review, but I'd like an insider's perspective. I'm drawn to it because of the figures (Unikitty, a different Emmet, Executron) but is the built itself worth it?
  22. I bought the Melting Room yesterday, and my expectations were blown out of the water. Amazing set for only 13 bucks, and I love Wildstyle's hood, though I'll pick up Cloud Cuckoo Palace for the other Emmet and Wildstyle variants. The set itself makes me want to use if for a James Bond-like death trap, or maybe a Hank Scorpio styled scene when the Simpsons figures come out, but I digress. I'm still a little confused about the Piece of Resistance, but maybe the movie will clear things up on its importance.
  23. I am in love with that castle. The Ghost Train mod is good so it can run on track, but that castle is the crown jewel, and here I thought the original model was great (It still is), but this tops it. Great work all around!
  24. Great review! I've been waiting for this set since the preliminary pics came out and it didn't disappoint. I love Penguin's new print. Perfect for any Batman Returns/Arkham City MOCs out there, and Batman's scuba suit is interesting, and I could see some possibilities with that alternate face, maybe as a gas mask. I might personally use it for a purist Firefly. The builds are a mixed bag. Batman's vehicle looks a little weird, but I like the parts, but Penguin's duck boat is great and again, a nod to Batman Returns. The ice scenery is a bonus. I may have to pick this baby up along with the Manbat and Riddler sets. I'm still on the fence with the Joker set, but I digress. This is perhaps the best $12 set in the superheroes range since the Catwoman set which I missed out on.
  25. I have a similar dilemma. I received the Mines of Moria as a Christmas gift, only to find no minifigures were present, only the skeletons. I debated returning it as it has useful pieces and the model is beautiful, and I did try getting replacement parts from Lego only to be told they don't make the parts anymore, so they're useless, and the only choice I have is to buy the figures in the aftermarket, which I shouldn't have to do. I'd return mine for store credit, but since it's opened and built, I can't get a refund and if I did want money back, I'd have to turn to eBay or Bricklink. I personally like Galaxy Squad, so if I were you I'd keep it. Swarm Interceptor is a beautiful model.
