Not sure how good my opinion is given the fact I don't own any modulars personally, but I can name some benefits from all of them GE: Lovely facade and gorgeous microbuilds throughout (From the interior to the billboard on the roof), plus some lovely prints on the minifigs. FB: Again, great facade and the fire engine looks decent enough. TH: Interesting build techniques and the elevator play feature is nicely done. PS: A two-for-one special (Townhouse and the eponymous pet shop). A residential modular compared to the others. Palace: Very ornate and has that old Hollywood charm, but the limo is a little dinky, I say go for the Emporium or the Pet Shop personally.

Good on you, man. Personally, though I like the idea of one uniform color, this multiple color faction has a classic space/Star Trek kind of vibe, since each team has a skill. However it would be nice to have a unified base/starship of some kind. I personally have the Swarm Interceptor and Warp Stinger (The two are made for each other) and I have my sights on the Space Swarmer soon (Nice little scout vehicle for the bugs)

Cornelius, that was rich! About time we started on the Lone Ranger funnies. Shame I can't think of any on the top of my head (Unlike LotR and DC/Marvel, I don't really follow the Lone Ranger aside from a few bits from the 50s TV show) Oh wait, I got one, "One of these things is not like the other..." (Referring to the dirty LR from the Silver Mine set compared to the same stock LRs from every other set)

commodorelegolas's Weird Al Minifigures
Amset-Rah replied to commodore_legolas's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
This is fantastic! I'd make a Like a Surgeon Al, but the surgeon minifig has the curves, but Al is a fairly skinny guy anyway, so I don't think it matters. I thought Andrea's hair would work well for Al, but I never thought about using Frodo's hair for the 80s Al. -
TV / Movie Customs (Purist or Otherwise)

I'm not too familiar with a lot of those guys, but Andre 3000 looks very nice. Another group from me: A brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess, and a criminal, better known as The Breakfast Club -
Nicely done! I love the use of the Monster Fighter pieces as some artifacts/talismans for the gypsy.

Talk about a way to make your presence known, man! Excellent job on the cinema. I particularly like the spikes used where the sai are on the original, plus the teeth as the second floor windows are creative. My only gripe is the marquee could use a splash of white between the bottom lights and the sign. At least that's what I'd do, but otherwise spot on!

TV / Movie Customs (Purist or Otherwise)
Amset-Rah replied to LibraryBoy's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Yes, the 4th Doctor's torso is the Bilbo from Riddles for the Ring. I love it, and it was perfect for the Doctor. As for Tomarken, it's the hairpiece and suit that does it. I'm not sure if I could make a Whammy minifig without some creative piece usage (Those devil heads from the monster game would work nicely here) Part of me wants to make more game show hosts (Like Bert "I always give away the answers" Convy of Super Password or Richard Dawson) -
TV / Movie Customs (Purist or Otherwise)
Amset-Rah replied to LibraryBoy's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Alright, time to throw my hat in the ring with these three unrelated TV icons: First up, Mike Nelson from MST3K. Next up, my attempt at the 4th Doctor (Minus his scarf) And lastly, the host of the popular 80s game show Press Your Luck, Peter Tomarken. I know, not 100%, but close enough, right? -
Would you? I'd appreciate it. I can see it now. Don't quit your day, er, night job, Bats.
-
TDKR is on point, my friend. It's a wonder why they didn't offer subtitles for Bats or Bane. Oh great, now part of me wants to do a funny with Batman as a death metal vocalist (But I don't have Bats yet. ) Of course the other two groaners are just too lovable to push aside.

TV / Movie Customs (Purist or Otherwise)

I think I might like this thread as much as the purist superhero one. Time for me to look through my parts and see what I can come up with. By the way, have you tried the CMF 3 pilot head for Jamie? I think that one may work slightly better than the samurai IMO. -
I see. Never did see the 4Kids TMNT, only some bits and pieces of the 80s cartoon, but maybe I was a little young to catch the potshots against the Technodrome as a Death Star on wheels. And someone did use the Death Star planet set as a Technodrome, eh? The ingenuity of AFOLs always intrigue me. And Penguin, who says you can't do one? I for one would love to see how you do it, seeing your customs in the past.

As much as that rabbit minifig looks creepy/hilarious, the build looks like of interesting for a bunny vehicle. Still pretty pathetic knockoffs, as most of them tend to be (Like those Justice League fakers who have Ninja Turtles, Lightning McQueen, and Shrek as honorary members) And seriously, a recolored Samurai Mech? I mean if it was a MOC as a Chimafied Samurai Mech it'd be pretty awesome, but this is just uncreative dreck.
-
You know, now that you mention it, the Death Star does look like the Technodrome without wheels. The Malibu Mansion I saw a mile away, but from the guise of "Rejected Friends set names" and not as a Toy Story joke.

Don't quit your day job turtles. Nice work, as always, Oky.

Single Pane Action Theme Funnies
Amset-Rah replied to Amset-Rah's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Bump. That feel when you have ideas, but you don't have the minifigs you need to pull them off. Oh, well, this'll have to do: My apologies if this isn't quite up to snuff as my others, but it's almost 3 A.M., I'm bored, and this was the best joke I could think off on such short notice. -
Well done as always, Oky. Gotta love Gollum chasing Mandarin with a fish, but I suppose the joke is too hard to resist (I would have done one, but my Walmart is lacking in the IM3 sets)

Jabba's Palace is stopping production in 2014
Amset-Rah replied to Debricker's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Alright, I realize I'm not the biggest Star Wars Lego guy (Though I would love to get this set because of how beautiful it is and for parts), but the similarities between the palace and the Hagia Sophia is purely coincidental, and like others have said, if anyone's feet are put to the flames, it's Lucas for designing the palace. Lego was just doing an accurate depiction of the palace, and again, the resemblance is a coincidence and someone is just looking to stir up trouble. They can claim victory all they please, but Lego was going to end production in 2014 anyway, so the joke's on them, not Lego. -
Excellent use of the Goblin King pieces for the run-down, creepy look of the lair.
-
Very simple, but powerful as well. I always thought Freeze had the best backstory of Batman's rogues gallery (Or at least the best motive to turn to the dark side of Gotham) and HEart of Ice was one of my favorite B:TAS episodes that didn't involve Joker. I remember this scene fondly, and you captured it well.
-
Not bad given the size limit. Instantly recognizable and hilarious (I know that feel, people do not know the difference, but we do). I like some of the clever uses of parts that you used (Like the cape in the hair).
-
I got Riddles for the Ring and the Gandalf polybag last week at Walmart. They're great sets, though I modified Riddles to take out the play feature and have a place for Gollum to stalk inside the cave. I do plan on getting more of the polybags for the excellent pieces (Longswords, skulls, dark gray slopes, and of course Gandalf).

Single Pane Action Theme Funnies
Amset-Rah replied to Amset-Rah's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yes, the thread is back in action! Great ones everyone, especially that Adventurers throwback, Oky. Not a completely original joke (First heard it on a hilarious Monster Fighter Party Crashers video which I highly recommend) but I wanted to keep this party moving. Also, another 80s music joke (Like my Hobbit funny in the other thread) -
Anytime. I guess mine needs an explanation: Watch the Safety Dance music video and you'll get it, but if you can't, the main vocalist looks like a Hobbit, so the crowd in my funny thinks Bilbo is that singer because of how he's dressed.
