Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?
Amset-Rah replied to KingPixels's topic in Community
Oh yeah, forgot about Winter Soldier! Didn't they make one already early on? I'd be interested, but I have a feeling I'll be getting the Lego version more on this one. -
Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

I don't have a problem with bootlegs or customs, again, as long as it's a character Lego hasn't made or unlikely to make (Punisher) or a figure that's ridiculously priced for a genuine article. I'm actually more curious than anything, as I've done purist customs before. Yeah, I'm with you on that. About time SY and Decool put out some new figs for the DC and later Ultron waves. What I'd snap up in a heartbeat are the exclusive Helecarrier figures like MCU Nick Fury or Maria Hill. Even Captain America is getting an upwards of $50 on eBay, so I'd welcome any of them for us who do't want to throw down $400 for a few exclusives. -
Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

I'm personally going for the Hydra Fortress once TRU does another deal, but Hulkbuster is a no brainer. Avengers Tower is good but again, waiting for a sale so maybe I can expand it since I assume it's supposed to be the top of a building as opposed to a whole tower. -

Thanks once again for organizing this, CopMike. Words can't express how appreciative I am, and I'm not worried about the wait. There's an old adage about how the best things are worth waiting for. Those GotG figs are going to rock. -
I'd vouch to say $10-15 in the aftermarket, give or take a few dollars. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's going to Bricklink the figure instead of the whole set. I'm already swimming in Spider Men.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Amset-Rah replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm leaning on the Hulkbuster or Quinjet too. Iron Man vs. Ultron is a good army builder, Hydra Showdown is a cheap way to get Hawkeye and Thor and the jeep is good with some mods, Hydra Fortress has Quicksilver and Baron Von Strucker and I love the play features with Hulk, and the tower is good on a discount. Hulkbuster is the cheapest way to get Hulk and the model itself is great, not to mention Scarlet Witch, and the Quinjet is better as a whole than the 2012 version. If I had to choose one, Hulkbuster. Best value of the line, unless you use the TRU discount on the Fortress, but my vote goes to Hulkbuster. -
Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

Huh, not bad. Aside from the sharp bits Decool I guess is known for on the body, it's spot on. I think I might go for a few bootlegs and see if they're worth it, though I have to ask is Ebay or Aliexpress a better place? I know Aliexpress is a cheaper option, but eBay has US sellers but the prices are similar to genuine Lego. Like I said, I might as well take the chance and see where it goes. That said, I think you found a new regular to the thread. -
Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

Yeah, from scouring this thread and watching Digger's videos, I'd think SY or Decool are the top dogs here, but like I said, I'm restricting myself to characters Lego hasn't done yet or characters that are too expensive to get regularly (Phoenix, Collector, Batman of Zurr-En-Ar, etc.) but some characters in this category I'm sticking away from like the aforementioned Antman or Wolverine (Though I have the Sentinel set version, so I'm good). Now one character I think might be bootleg that I have coming in is Deadpool, but the picture looked just like the Lego version which is way too pricey. I can report back once he comes in the mail his quality, but if anyone here has any Deadpools, are they any good compared to the genuine Lego? -

I think I might bite the bullet and go for Phoenix and the Fantastic Four set like you said. It's just some of the funkier ones like Red Robin, Antman, and cowl Wolverine kind of made me weary (Though Galactus is amazing) -
Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

I've been stalking this thread as I've been thinking of getting some bootlegs of figures Lego hasn't made yet or are hard to obtain/overpriced in the aftermarket. I'm assuming most people in this thread have their fair share of knockoffs and I know the nature of the game is luck of the draw you get a good one, but I'm still hesitant, like I wanted to get SY's Fantastic Four set with Pyro and Silver Surfer, with the intent on changing the Fantastic 4's legs (The incomplete boot print bothers me) and maybe a new head for Reed, but still, which companies are worth it and which ones are junk? This thread and Digger's videos have helped in terms of figuring out what's crap and good, but I need more opinions. -
The model looks a little underwhelming, but the minifigs are pretty nice, so I might have to Bricklink them. I do like the features and the microfigures are cute, but this is different than what I expected.

I was expecting the worst when I first heard the news of a Scooby Doo theme, but looking at just the Mystery Machine alone, I'm sold. The minifigs look great, the Mystery Machine itself is fantastic, the zombie is sweet, but the only sour note is the tree. Looks a little awkward, but I'm anxious to see the rest of the line.

I can't imagine Moe would get a figure, but he's a pretty major character, so they might have to revamp him slightly if they did make him. Lovejoy is another shaky one, thanks to him being a pastor, but we did get Flanders as much of a religious nut as he is as of recent. I would say Snake, but seeing as we're getting him in the Kwik E Mart.... Otto I could see getting a figure. Give him a guitar and he's golden.

Wow, nice compositing and forced perspective! Instantly recognizable.

I have to echo the sentiments of City and Agents for sure. City can work for any superheroes, and Agents definitely has a SHIELD vibe to some of their sets thanks to the color scheme. Modular Theater's a must for Batman for obvious reasons, and the Detective's Office can work for Gotham too (Let it be Harvey Bullock's office). Haunted House could be retrofitted to be Wayne Manor if you choose, and suffice to say even a few Chima sets would be decent for superheroes, at least for customs (Minifig Gorilla Grodd, Bronze Tiger, renovated Man-Bat)

Red Dwarf custom minifigures
Amset-Rah replied to Dr Leg O Brick's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
^ Lister is probably my favorite of the bunch here. I would have gone with the other slick back hair for Rimmer if not the comb-over, Cat is pretty good though again, I would have done another hairpiece, and Kryten is the best you could do with a purist option, though there has to be a good mold to use for his head. -

I recently marathoned some episodes recently and I think you have Lister spot on, and same with Rimmer. Cat is pretty nice too, but Kryten is the hardest one if only for his head. The body's perfect but the head is kind of difficult to replicate in Lego. -
Mystery solved. Turns out that the piece is a Brick Warriors sombrero! I should have known, seeing as I could ID some other products in the lot (I think I see a BW fedora in the fray too). Thanks for trying at least, guys, I appreciate it.

Hey guys. So I recently bought a minifig accessory pack on eBay which included some nice Brickarms/Brickforge pieces, as well as some CMF pieces and the like, but there's one piece in this lot that I can't quite put my finger on. http://imgur.com/Zhq3Xcc Please excuse my poor Photoshop skills here, but the piece with the black circle around it, what is it? I'm going assume it's some kind of hat, maybe an aftermarket piece, but I have no clue what it could be.

Guardians was one of the ones I wanted most, so I'm happy with mine, but that's a good idea for a trade thread, Blakstone. -

Great MOC, but yeah, it's a little too rich for my blood, but with all the printed elements and the lighting rig, it's not a huge shocker. Still, too steep for me. -

Holy crap, I won something! The Guardians of the Galaxy figures, quite the awesome score. CopMike, you are a trooper, man, thanks for running this little raffle. Words can't express my appreciation.
