LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

Same here. I think it looks great! All the hate it is getting is a bit unfair because it follows the design language of Blacktron 1 and fits right in with all the previous sets. I was afraid that the set was going to be too much modernized but that's fortunately not the case. I'm so happy that the minifigs are original (backprinting is okay) and will order more of them from Pick a Brick. I will order/preorder the new Renegade as soon as it is available. -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

I misunderstood your first comment. I thought that official meant directly from Lego. Anyways this is great news. I haven't been this excited for a new set since the Galaxy Explorer and the Blacktron Cruiser. I hope that the new Renegade has the same design style as the Blacktron Cruiser and similar minifigs. -

What sort of Lego keychain do you use?
SpacePolice89 replied to SpacePolice89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Star Wars keychains seem to be very popular. I once had a Yoda keychain with short legs. A friend bought it in Legoland and mailed it to me as a surprise. It arrived three months later. I wonder what happened to it during that time period because when it arrived the small envelope it was in had been opened by the postal service (can't remember in which country) and taped back together with some sort of official tape. I also have an original Majisto keychain I bought in Legoland in the 90s. It is still in excellent condition because back then I wanted an extra Majisto minifig so I removed the chain carefully and used it as a regular minifig. -

They look great! The griffin shield is my favorite. -
They are both very nice but I prefer the original. I wonder why they changed it because the level of detail is about the same in both logos?

Then a July 2025 retirement date would be more likely. I hope they also release a new train station next year.

Brickfanatics states that 60198 Cargo Train and 60337 Express Passenger Train will retire in 2025. Will they retire in July or December 2025?

Same here. I liked the Griffin shield from the moment that I saw it for the first time. -

Lego sets visible in movies and tv series

You did a fantastic job with that list! Maybe this thread should be merged into the original one because I didn't know about it's existence before your post? -

Lego sets visible in movies and tv series

I was thinking about Lego stuff featuring in other movies. Of course there are many movies and shows about Lego but that is very obvious and everyone knows about those. And regarding Storage Wars, it doesn't matter if it is real or fake, the main thing is that they featured some very cool sets in unopened boxes. -

What an incredible find! -
After watching Red One a couple of days ago in the movie theater I noticed that many movies and tv series feature brief cameos of Lego sets. In that movie a lot of sets were visible in a German toy store. When I was a kid I really enjoyed Sunes Jul, a Sveriges Television Christmas calendar TV series. A copy of 6933 Spectral Starguider is visible in several episodes. It is first seen being bought in a store along with other Lego sets and then opened as a Christmas present in the last episode I linked above, it is visible at 14:51 in the video. I remember seeing 6949 Robo Guardian in a Danish TV series where a kid is playing with it, I think it was Anna Pihl but it could also have been Forbrydelsen. Do you have more observations of Lego sets in movies or in television?

Beautiful! This is how the set should've been from the beginning. Your small changes made the set look so much better. -
[MOD] Ice Planet Ice Blaster version of 6903 Bug Blaster
SpacePolice89 replied to SpacePolice89's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thanks! It's a really nice little set that can easily be converted to other subthemes by changing a few pieces. Insectoids had many really cool small sets which is special given that the subtheme only got one proper wave in 1998 and a couple of sets in 1999. -
[MOD] Ice Planet Ice Blaster version of 6903 Bug Blaster

I built this one for the first time in the early 2000s after seeing a similar one on Brickshelf. Now I've modified it for the new Ice Planet CMF. Here is a link to the original set (6903) -
I think that the overall look of the first two sets are in line with present day space designs like the ISS but that others like the upcoming Galactic Spaceship are more similar to earlier Space (the theme) subthemes and designs. Given that all these sets belong to a space subtheme of City it's only natural to have some sets with Earth space program influences and not go full outer space sci-fi like Ice Planet or Blacktron. Because we have no stand alone Space theme anymore they try to include some of that stuff into City Space while still keeping other sets more based on Earth/NASA designs.
-
In my opinion some of the sets have a design that is very much present day Earth, especially 60433 and 60439 while others such as 60431 and 60430 looks more sci-fi.
-
I think that the Galactic Spaceship is the best set so far for the City Space subtheme. It looks more sci-fi than many of the other sets and has less NASA vibes. It's similar to the Explorer and Command Rovers from 2024 which in my opinion were the best sets from 2024 City Space. It would look even better with a trans green canopy and windows.
