For a 7 year old not bad, I would just add the regular green for the grass, add a real tree and perhaps some treasure, but he did a great job :)

I understand everything now except the flag, it is a classic pirates contest perhaps they are adventures but I think if Lego were to make a set like this it would include a pirate flag :)

My first thoughts are there is a rule that there are supposed to be no battle pack entries, but I don't care (I had to deal with the same thing), anyway the minifigures look great although there does not need to be 2 officers. Other than this the flag looks nice the cannon great I would just swap the sea turtle with a crab or spider, other than this I might add some walls of a fort or something like a tree to better indicate where this is taking place, anyway, happy building :)

Awesome, all I would add er or rather take is some of those minifigs Lego would not go for that, and what's up with that flag, I seem to recall that a flag flown upside down was a sign of surrender or a distress signal. Other than this the ship looks perfect, but what color is the bow of the ship, anyway happy building :)

Aye, the cannon looks great (although Lego would never release it) the minifigures look great, perhaps part of the side of a ship with some ropes to show how a cannon would work would be a nice touch. Other than this, happy building :)

Anyway, your ship is lovely, all I would do is update the minifigures, add a picture of the inside of the cabin, and perhaps revisit the figurehead as it looks a bit blocky, but that's what Legos are so... Anyway, happy building :) As for the first thing I said we shall see what the other creative critics have to say, best of luck

By calling yourself an "amateur" I think you underestimating yourself, this is great, there's a place to eat, sleep, and guard. Here are my suggestions's, first I think there should be an armory, and that small swivel gun I don't think is small enough, perhaps... That's my suggestion, other than this I would try and make the back of the build a bit more open so the builder can fit their hands in there. The colors could be spread over the build some more because right now it looks like one side is yellow and the other white, just adding a bit more yellow to the white and vice versa could go a long way. Anyway, you did a great job here so happy building :)

Aye, indeed your are right I don't know much about ships :) And the updates look great, albeit, it doesn't really look like the iron ran because of the colors, but I don't really care it still looks somewhat like it so keep the name

Beautiful, but do they all have ships, or is there about to be a massive battle over only a few ships?

As others have said it's a great set let down by the rock work, I would go light grey on top and dark grey on the bottom, and swap that nicely built canoe for a rowboat. Also, I would revisit adding the giant rock, like the original, and keeping the bridge brown. Other than this I would like to see the tree a little bit more full and a second one in place of the other tree as it is not very tropical. the little fort could be changed back to brown and of course, those minifigures need a revisit to make them look a bit more like updates of the originals. As for the sail, it looks ok now but I would love to see a custom updated original anyway, you have a great start there and even if it's not finished for the contest you could always post it as a Moc, so happy building :) Oh and welcome to the forum

I would have loved to remake one of these but alas I wanted to use the new bluecoats as redcoats and the sets don't have much but minifigures and a treasure chest so... not much to update anyway thanks for the ideas :)

A nice small set, but unfortunately has some unnecessary parts, get rid of those yellow plates underneath, and try to reimagine the set a bit more maybe the minifig was able to move the rocks around some, build a place to sleep, some food to eat, and a fire to signal with. Other than that, the build looks great so far so happy building :)

For the crane issue, I would swap it for the new Eldorado crane (you can find the instructions here 6467678.pdf (lego.com starting on page 24), among other things I would keep the underside of the dock yellow, with black on top, swap some of the undersides of the rocks for the dark grey, and just update that captain with Torso Pirate Captain Jacket Open with Gold Trim over Green Shirt with Wide Neck Ruffle, Dark Orange Strap, Belt with Buckle Pattern / Black Arms / Dark Bluish Gray Hook Left / Yellow Hand Right: Part 973pb3973c01 | BrickLink, if they have it that is. Other than this I love all the good calls the extra minifigue, the upgraded firepower, and the snipers in the trees. Anyway, I love your remake, so happy building :)

I never had any of these little sets, perhaps you could give a part number one of them, as for updating one of them along as they are under 50 parts, this is a great idea :) Oh and @Mister Phes could you update the building index, get rid of the battle pack pictures, and post the new pictures under the small set building category, thx in advance :)

Aye, a very nice build indeed, perhaps you could add a bit more to make it look like he has been here awhile, a place to sleep, a parrot to talk to, some other supplies, and I know what you're going to say "yes, but the piece count" perhaps you could get rid of the front railing so we can see the Minifigure more and reach your hand in there. Anyway, it's a lovely little model that does not need a lot of work so good job and happy building :) Btw, I can't wait to see your other 50-piece Mocs :)

Aye, it seems there are many who love the good old days, but I think it should just be shown in the building and not in the water or sand, it's a shame that there is not enough time in the contest for you to finish, perhaps after you could finish it as a Moc :)

I don't think they make these pieces in the chrome color like the old sets :( but the looks of the gold aren't very realistic when it comes to stud.io so...

A nice remake only let down by the mix of old a new parts, as seen in the new Lego Pirates sets the sand is only one color, tan with azure plates for the water under them, perhaps you could represent this? Other than this the build could use a new tree and some new minifigures, the treasure is a nice call but I think you could hide that figure a bit more, maybe make some removable rock work, other than this you aced the building, it looks great, the only thing I would change in the dock, maybe you could make it black like the new Eldorado. Anyway, I love all the pictures and happy building :)
