Agreed, that would be fantastic, especially with the animated movie adaptation coming out soon. Sorry, I meant 5 Harleys. I'm looking at brickset which is a much more reliable source. One Harley and Joker were in the Dimensions team pack, and another Joker in the bumpercar polybag. Yeah, they really need to stop using Penguin and Ivy if they aren't going to give them any variations. I can understand that they want to include the Joker so many times without much variation, but these two are really getting tiresome, even if the Penguin had a different jacket in one set.

True. I don't think it matters for characters who have a generic and/or obstructed face like Ant Man, but for some characters it's a bit annoying, like Bruce Wayne's head on Loki. Oh, and can we add that they're being overly stingy with leg prints? I think this trend has improved a bit over the years, and the introduction of dual molded legs helped, but they are still making too many figs without leg prints, especially compared to other licenses like Star Wars or LotR. We've gotten the Flash three times now and he still doesn't have yellow boots! Excuse me, but where are you getting these numbers from? As far as I know, it should be 4 Green Goblins (including the Jumiors one), 6 Harleys (including the Arkham Asylum version), and 10 Jokers.

Yeah, it makes sense that they put Batman and Spider-Man in half of their sets since they are so popular. I also don't think the Quinjets are strange since their design changes from movie to movie, so it makes sense that they make a set based on each version, not to mention that it's the Avengers' most iconic vehicle. And the Avenjet is a different vehicle altogether. Iron Man also seems to be a popular character to include in sets for them, although not as popular as Batsy and Spidey. But yeah, the inclusion of a fire extinguisher (not hydrant) in every other set indeed seems to be a strange obsession of the designers. But maybe you're right, maybe the Avengers just really like to have ketchup with their shawarma. Another nasty obsession is the overuse of the ADU gun, but thankfully they finally started using more realistic guns in the Civil War sets. Since when has this been an issue? I can only think of a handful of villains who have ever held dynamite.

I'm a fan of the animated series as well, but I don't mind that they are doing a new story, as cliche as it may seem. The only way they could have connected it to the show would be either continue the story (which would alienate people who haven't seen the show) or just remake the original story arc where the ninjas meet and fight Lord Garmadon for the first time (which would be boring for the fans). So creating a story/canon that is new to everyone just makes the most sense. And putting it in a different setting will help to separate this canon from the show's canon. Yes. The Lego Batman Movie is 100% Lego as well, so I don't see why this movie wouldn't be. WB is clearly trying to capitalize on the success of TLM by using the same visual style.

Here is an image of the next Lego Justice League movie: Gotham City Breakout and it includes a classic Nightwing minifig! That Bane bigfig on the cover is also very promising! Could he be in a future set? Also, what did you guys think of Cosmic Clash?

Well, this sounds about as cliche as heck, but then again, so did the plot of The Lego Movie, so I will reserve any judgement until we know more about it and have faith in Lord and Miller. As others have said, hopefully this will be a clever subversion of the "highschoolers by day, heroes by night" story as much as TLM was for the "Chosen One" story. They could embrace the fact that Ninjago is a homage to shows like Power Rangers and really have fun with it. Speak for yourself. I for one never liked either of those franchises, although for different reasons, not because of the high school setting.

LDD 4.3.9 Update Released
Oky replied to legolijntje's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
HALLELUJAH! Our prayers have been heard! So glad to have these new parts! However, it seems like they still haven't fixed the short legs issue that doesn't allow you to add skirts or tails to short figs. -
Thanks for pointing that out! I just saw it last night and probably would have missed that if you wouldn't have told us! That was very fitting, especially with the stuff being blue. There were actually quite a few subtle jokes like that that will go over most people's heads, like the Bunnies being "good at multiplying" thing. Overall, the movie was indeed very good, mainly due to its likable characters and deep messages. It saddens me that these issues are still relevant today, but that's unfortunately how it is and everyone, especially kids and Trump supporters, need to be reminded that prejudice is bad, so I think this movie came out at just the right time and who better to remind us of this than Disney. I don't think it's the best Disney movie ever as the 99% on Rotten Tomatoes would lead you to believe, but definitely more meaningful than most and the fact that it's doing so well restores my faith in humanity. We also got lots of exciting Disney TV news recently! First off, it has been announced that the Kim Possible creators are working on a Big Hero 6 animated series that will air on Disney XD in 2017! I'm very excited about this because ever since I saw the team's continues adventures during the end credits of the movie, I could totally see them doing a series about it and now they're actually doing it! Hopefully it will be just as good as Kim Possible. Next, we got our first look at the new DuckTales (Woo-hoo)! I like the Carl Barks-esque art style and the fact that Donald is there, just like in the comics. And I love the updated Webbigail. Hopefully she won't be such a bad stereotype this time. I hope Launchpad will be there too - unless they're saving him for a Darkwing Duck reboot? And lastly, we got some images and details from Tangled Before Ever After. I'm surprised they're making a Tangled series instead of a Frozen one, but I'm glad as I prefer Tangled. But if this takes place after the movie, shouldn't Rapunzel have her short brown hair? From the Deadline article: So who's ready for 2017? I know I am!

Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion
Oky replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
At last! A PICTURE! *happy dance* I'm so excited! Most of these look great! I really don't get the complaints about the lack of accessories since there really aren't any logical accessories that the figs that don't have any could have come with. And it's not like CMFs didn't come without accessories before. My thoughts: Maleficent - Looks pretty cool. Nice addition to the Disney villains. Alice and Cheshire Cat - I'm not a huge fan of the movie, so these aren't too interesting to me, but they look good. I would have expected the mad hatter or queen of hearts as an antagonist for Alice instead, but many people seem to be happy about the cat, plus his legs and tail will be perfect for a custom Bing Bong, so I'm fine with it. Syndrome and Mr. Incredible - Awesome! These are spot on (except Bob's face maybe) and the printed tiles are neat accessories. Definitely getting multiples to create the rest of the family! Buzz and Alien - Sigh. As much as I love toy story, we really didn't need these. Aside from that horrible head on Buzz and some minor printing on the alien, they are exactly the same as before, making them completely useless. Why they felt the need to increase the fig count from 16 to 18 just to include these fillers is beyond me. Oh well, at least this will shut up those people that were complaining about the molded heads in the toy story sets, and one can never have enough aliens I guess. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy - These look just how I thought they would and should look like. I don't see how they look "scary" at all. I guess they're saving Goofy and Pluto for wave 2. Pan and Hook - very good, although Peter does look oddly similar to Shaggy. Aladdin and Genie - Very excited about Aladdin, although the double lamp is indeed odd and I can't say I'm not disappointed with Genie. I understand that they didn't use a molded head for him for consistency, but the big forehead, small eyes, and small chin just don't work. But at least this will allow you to add hair and hat pieces to him for his transformations and the printed arms are great. Maybe he will look better in person. Stitch - As others have said, he is great and one of the most accurate of the bunch. But now we NEED Lilo in the next wave. Ariel and Ursula - Both are fantastic! I'm so glad they made a new fat tentacles piece for Ursula and her accessory makes sense. The only thing that bugs me about her is the black torso. Ariel's new hairpiece also looks way better than the mini doll one. But yeah, it's disappointing to see that TLG apparently thinks that mermaids always need to come with a clam and a pink diamond for some reason. It would have been so easy for them to include Lounder or Sebastian or even a human object instead, but I. Guess they want you to buy the princess sets for those. Oh well, off to bricklink I guess. So overall I'm very happy with this lineup. I do have some complaints, but it was clear from the start that nobody was going to be 100% happy with this series. Hopefully it will do well so that we can see many more waves. Also, now we can make some educated guesses what could be included in the next wave which will hopefully be soon. I really hope they go back to molded heads for any potential TS4 sets.- 4,155 replies

Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion

That's like saying we don't need Snow White because there is a Duplo figure of her. Minidolls are NOT just skinny minifigs, they are a completely different style of figure targeted at a specific audience, even if they are compatible with the same system. So yes, we do need an Ariel minifigure, especially since we're getting Ursula. Could you provide a picture? It would be nice for all of us to see how that hair looks on a minifigure to decide whether it would make sense for TLG to reuse it. That would be the laziest collectable minifigure since the recolor of the Man-Bat considering we already have a yellow version of him.- 4,155 replies

We've talked about the potential of that piece being used in this series a while back, but not for the Queen of Hearts specifically. Since Alice seems to be confirmed, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case.- 4,155 replies

I think this might belong in the community forum, but I'm not sure myself. Yeah, Mocpages definitely has its flaws, which is why I never used it. I used to use Brickshelf, but that's more an outdated picture dumping ground than a social media site. I now use Flickr which is what most AFOLs use I believe. It's easy to use, very social, and if you have a pro account, you will also get the statistics you're looking for. I don't really use them as they don't interest me. I just look at the total number of views I get on each picture. It also has a "Favorite" button which most people seem to be using as a Like button, but I personally still use it as what it was intended to be - a way of bookmarking your absolute favorite pictures so you can easily find and look at them again in the future. The only downside is the constantly changing user interface, but you get used to it. I can highly recommend switching to Flickr.

Yes, light blue, just as I thought! And the Mickey head is fitting and makes it unique. It's also a pretty big giveaway as to what the series is about, so they may as well have shown the final box. Was any price or release date revealed along with the box? (I'm still holding out hope that it will be released in May rather than July)- 4,155 replies

Well, that looks about as terrible as expected. Not even the brick-built characters look good, except for the wardrobe maybe. I can't even imagine little girls being satisfied with those figures. Does anyone think the Beast head could be used on a minifigure? If so, that would be the only redeeming aspect of this set...
-
So they're seriously making Beast as a minidoll? A spindly minidoll body with a big beast head on top? I just don't see that working, especially without the animal legs and tail. Also, considering how much minidolls revolve around adding hair accessories makes me think of this scene: It's cool to hear about all the other characters though. Can't wait to see how they're built.

This is sad news indeed, although not really surprising. This will limit the creativity of many people which is the opposite of what TLG should be trying to achieve, but it also makes sense since it doesn't make them any money. The only hope is that they will make it open source or release a similar, improved software in the future, but that will probably take some time. Heck, I would gladly pay for a new version of LDD. In the meantime, LDD is still working fine on my computer, so I will keep using it as long as I can, but once it doesn't, I may have to start looking at LDraw or MecaBricks... I'm seriously considering writing a complaint to TLG, but I'm not sure how much that is going to achieve at this point, considering that this decision seems to have been made a while ago. I guess we should just be glad that they supported it as long as they did. This is also puzzling because of the plans to integrate LDD into Lego Worlds. Is the development of that game cancelled as well or are they just going to remove that feature in the final release of the game? Why would it? It still contains discussions about LDD and other digital tools and people will continue to use Lego CAD software for as long as they can. The discontinued support of LDD doesn't change that. I don't think it's a reference to Dimensions. That game is being developed by Tt Games. It's more likely a reference to things like the Nexo Knights app that are being developed by Lego's own development team. Which would be pretty sad if that's the case because that would meant that they're replacing an actual creative tool for a gimmicky game. Speculations that they're abandoning LDD in favor of a newer, better version of it have been circulating in this thread for a while, but mostly that's just wishful thinking. LDD used to have the ability to order parts from PAB to build your designs, but then they took that away too...

DC Super Heroes - 76052 Batman™ Classic TV Series - Batcave
Oky replied to CopMike's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think the simplicity of the design is a tribute to how cheap the sets in the TV show were. For example, the facade of the building is really just that, a facade, just like in a TV studio. The set definitely costs at least $20 too much though... -

Conniving Conundrums, Batman! I just might have to get this set despite never having been able to sit through an entire episode of the campy cheesefest that was the 60s Batman show. That price tag though... So how long before that tile on the left pole is getting used out of context? -
Sorry, I didn't mean to sound aggressive. I just don't think it's fair for you to compare the two movies if you haven't seen (one of) them. Don't judge Inside Out just by your sister's account. It is a coming-of-age story, so she may have been too young to understand some of the deeper meanings of the film. Go see it for yourself and build your own opinion so we can have a meaningful discussion about it. I assure you you won't be disappointed. That's still on my to-watch list. I quite enjoyed the TV series, just like everything Aardman makes, and I'm glad to hear it is getting such good reviews, so I'm looking forward to seeing it. I also have to make some honorable mentions for smaller movies that I didn't talk about: The Gift - A very intense thriller with one heck of an ending. It keeps you guessing until the end and the way your perception of the characters changes as the movie goes along is great. It has a very interesting message. Ex Machina - The story may be simple and not very new, but the performances, the setting, and the plot twists make this a very intense sci-fi thriller. In fact, this film disturbed me on kind of a deep level. Even though I've seen this type of scenario before, it made me look at robots and humanity very differently than I had up to that point. The Walk - I enjoyed this film a lot more than I thought I would. Usually biopics like this tend to be kind of boring and you'd think that a film about one moment where a guy walks on a high wire couldn't fill an entire movie, but they pulled it off very well as the movie is more about the planning and the preparation for the titular walk which makes it similar to a heist movie. It had a lot more humor and suspense than I expected and everybody delivered a very enjoyable performance. I also liked the fact that they didn't dwell on the twin towers' fate much. There is only one indirect reference to 9/11 at the very end and it actually makes for a nice bitter sweet ending to an enjoyable movie.

Pixar Animation Studios and Films Discussion

Somebody made an "Outside Edition" of Inside Out. Pretty neat, although it makes Riley look a little nuts. http://www.dorkly.com/post/76932/inside-out-minus-all-the-inside-scenes-is-trippy-and-awesome Whatever you do, don't pirate movies. Go to the theater or at least rent them and support great movie making. Cars 2 wasn't that bad. It was clearly aimed at kids, but I enjoyed it for what it was. At least it had some neat action scenes, whereas in The Good Dinosaur there wasn't much interesting aside from some pretty landscapes. That's pretty bad when the most interesting thing about a movie is the backgrounds. In other words, Cars 2 is a "so bad it's good" movie whereas TGD is just kind of boring which is the worst kind of movie in my book. I felt the same way about MU. I would argue that TGD was probably aimed at kids too, but the kids at the theater that I saw it at were restless throughout the whole movie, so I guess they must have been bored by it too. So, while I wouldn't call any Pixar movie bad, I agree with Lordofdragonss that this is the worst one so far.- 279 replies

Interesting. Yes, I guess that means we wont get Belle or the Beast in this wave. However, I hold out hope that we might get them in a subsequent series. As I've said before, I think the fact that a character already exists as a minidoll just makes it more likely for the character to appear in these CMFs later on since they will already have the mold for the hair and accessories like Flounder or Sebastian (maybe Lumiere in this case?). Indeed! But seriously, it would be strange if they don't include the Beast, especially if it's a $60 set. Then again, it's hard to imagine them including a bigfig in a minidoll set... but that's a discussion for another thread.- 4,155 replies

Exactly. Yeah, let's hope 2016 will be good as well, although I doubt that it will beat 2015. The only films I'm looking forward to so far are Kung Fu Panda 3, Deadpool, Captain America: Civil War, Zootopia, and The Secret Life of Pets. I wish I could be excited for BvS, Suicide Squad, TMNT2, and X-Men: Apocalypse, but based on their trailers, I just can't. There are several other movies that could be good, though, depending on how they turn out, such as Finding Dory, The Jungle Book, Star Trek Beyond, Ghostbusters, Doctor Strange, Fantastic Beasts, Moana, Rogue One, etc. They are all promising, so let's hope they'll be good.
