  1. I never thought I would see a lego power drill :) I am so glad I did. Excellent creation.
  2. I live in canada and originally the philippines and I voted boss :) I love classic muscle cars and putting it on the crawler just makes it look amazing. Nothing russian about me. I voted for the boss because Brick built photos represent it much better than a LDD model does Videos showing how well it works Controlled use of parts to achieve a excellent design without just throwing piles of bricks on it The small off road attachments of lights and front push bar are excellent. I love classic cars It annoys me that people complain that the boss shot up in votes, getting support for the model and having more people see the competition is good for lego as a whole as more people who see the competition the more possible sales lego has. I would love to see the model in blue the most :)
  3. I would love to pick up 8466 just for the tires but if I bought all the out of production sets I wanted I would be extra broke! I would also really love silver champion/williams f1 car just because of the extra wide race tires but at over $200 to buy a used one due to current market prices + shipping I will end up saving that money for the newer sets. If I ever get the insurance payout I am supposed too I might go crazy and buy all the old sets I wish I could have :)
  4. Since 2011 I have bought most of the larger technic sets that come out. The small $15-20 sets rarely interest me and will get passed over so I can have the flagship sets :) I spend at least $700-800 CDN a year at the moment.
  5. I tried(and failed lol) to make a dumper bed to replace the logging portion of the truck a while ago. I have a wanted list at bricklink that I need to buy some more stuff for so I can work on building my own mocs and modding this set is one of my first plans when I can get too it. I also wanted to buy more 'logs' because it does look kinda silly with just one log in it.
  6. If I had to chose between one, I would chose 9397 just because I love the american style the truck has but 8109 is fairly neat with its functions as well, the rear wheels go closer to the ground as the flatbed tilts to pick up a vehicle and I enjoy that function more than the crane on 9397. It does have 6 black panels though which is nice but 9397 has the narrow long black panels which are also good! Overall I prefer the part selection in 9397 and the truck looks great.
  7. Very nice, I love that paul does this. I will have to log into my ebay account and bid on his wonderful car when it goes up for auction! I dont think I can commit enough to win if its the same as last yearss final bid but I still will take part!
  8. Thanks for the info, I might have to buy some xl motors from S&H and modify them if they work almost as good as the old buggy motor :)
  9. I have more then one chair :-p I sometimes have help and it would be rude if they couldn't sit. I have since bought a rolling table that goes under the larger one so I can box myself in and still have a place for my instruction booklet. The monitor set up above to have them digitally seems nice and maybe one day I will try it!
  10. I didn't realize 8043 is gone now :( I found building the 8043 with its gearbox to control all the functions is pretty amazing(and hard), the only other technic set I had the same level of challenge building was 8258 followed by the 8110. 9398 I found was simple, but it is a good use of power functions because it plays well, but I think my idea of playing with powerfunctions needs the set to have a remote in my mind. I would love to get the old builldozer but the b model for 8043 is good enough for now.
  11. 8043 and its B-model are my favourite 'playable' power functions. For showing off I do love the unimog.
  12. Nice! I just never seemed to notice that piece of information before, some days im a space case!
  13. I really like this set and will be purchasing it next time S&H has free shipping after it is released. I like the thicker tires and never bought the only other set that had them so I might need to buy a second one just for parts later down the road when I get better at building sets! I regret a little bit not getting a second 8070 so I will try not let that happen again. As for the stickers, I only have them on the 8258 set and rarely put them on anything and am glad the set looks good without them :) 9396 suffers for not having stickers compared to some sets but glad 42000 doesn't I can't wait for the b-model as well, the truck looks bad megablocks!
  14. I didn't think of this until now, but will the set be released like the crawler with all the power functions parts or will it just be the top piece and you need to own the 9398 to use it? I might have to scrounge up and buy another 9398 if it is only the top piece.
  15. This is my lego work area I have the parts sorters from canadian tire for stuff I use a lot and it is great because I can pull the entire drawer out and then put it back when I am done with it. It helps keep them organized. I also use little round stackable containers for usually when building a new set, I will dump a entire bag of small parts into it. I have the blue mat it is some anti slip thing I found at the dollar store, it is great because no lego part is that colour of blue so it always stands out and pins dont roll away on it. For the bigger parts I space them out on the table and try to organize best I can.I find the L shape way I laid out works well for me because I can have small parts off to the side and then my build area. Obviously in the middle of building stuff gets messy but when its done it is all neat and tidy! I love my hobby :)
  16. The point of lego is to have fun, what is more fun then seeing a great set then thinking how to add to it once you have it? It could be as simple as changing the colour scheme to adding remote control or just adding to the playability with some minor tweaks. Why leave a set the way it came when you can pull it apart! This is a discussion board so people discussing how to change models after they come out isn't a insult to lego designers or the choices they had to make. Just because you have a idea how to change a set doesn't mean you have the parts or skill to do it at the moment and everyone should feel free to tell everyone the ideas they have.
  17. I love this, I do get somewhat annoyed with all the power functions in sets when they could drop the function(and the price by at least $20) and just have the power functions as a addon.
  18. This is the first non car/truck official set that uses cv joints which is nice. I do think that the tracks could of used some more support as they seem to have too much freedom. adding another 30 parts would of improved the base model a fair bit.
  19. I love your set, it reminds me of model team sets just on steroids and with a whole lot of class. All of your trucks are great but the wow factor of this one is partially due to not many dumptrucks and I really like the green.
  20. I like the black better in this set, yet in 9398 I found the grey looked better so I swapped the rims in mine as well :)
  21. Maybe lego will knock enforcer out of the running if its too part heavy and go with the obviously superior muscle car :)
  22. Thanks for the excellent instructions to a great model!
  23. The orange is great! When I buy it I plan to add more of the small caster type wheels that are on the 8043, the tracks just dont look right with them missing.
  24. Voted for it just now :) If TLG makes it I will be picking it up for sure.
  25. This is really cool, I haven't seen something like this before and your's is great! The video shows it off nicely
