Lego Technic Clones
jadedomg replied to imajor's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The lego tires smell too, the 9398 I got at christmas I could smell the plasticy smell for about a week. Most plastic stuff does the same thing :/ $60 for a complete set with parts that suck, but has the 4 tires I want, vs $200+shipping/duties for a set with the 4 tires I want? really If I didn't hate the idea of supporting knock off stuff I would of pulled the trigger already and bought it just for the tires, I know the tires/hubs would be of lower quality and really aren't lego but considering I already put some 3rd party wheels on lego hubs when it comes to the tires on my lego sets I don't care too much about it being pure leg. Boo to that, I mostly wanted them for the hubs and if the rubber is stuck in them thats no good. -

I notice the ferrari sets uses the 81 44 rubber tires on powerpuller hubs. It would almost be cheaper to buy that set just for the hubs and rubber. -
Cleaning models
jadedomg replied to DarkShadow73's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I bought a electric toothbrush at the dollar store, the end is circular and it spins so its great on dust that gets into the liftarms. -
It probably is but maybe I want to let people into my room it just isn't something you normally see in someones house or bedroom. I have a building table in my rec room area but with my rehab equipment I don't have much space for shelves anywhere but my room. It is just getting really crowded :-p even with the 2-3 sets I have taken apart to try build mocs I don't have room for everything I want!

I plan to be buying most of the 2013 sets so I am pretty pleased. I have skipped on a few sets the past 2 years like the white bucket truck/green tractor and the smaller stuff like the tiny orange unimog. but for the most part I pick up the bigger sets :) I think my most anticipated is the green service truck. My biggest problem is going to be finding a place for everything! My shelf that I have my technic on is full, and I even another shelf above my bed and it is already full. I do get weird looks sometimes when people go into my bedroom and see lego all over the place.

Those tires look great! I will be buying a set for sure. The third party wheels that can fit on lego really do improve the look of the sets a lot.

Lego Technic 2h 2013
jadedomg replied to sama's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
After seeing pictures of the service truck I think I like it even more than the mobile crane! I don't even have space for all the stuff I keep built as it is let alone for all the new stuff I must have. I am thinking the crane to be $300 CDN at least :/- 902 replies

Lego Technic 2h 2013
jadedomg replied to sama's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I like the crane, I have 8053 but this is such a step ahead of it and I don't have 8421 so full steam ahead for buying. I am going to go broke buying what seems every technic set this year. I can't wait.- 902 replies

You came here , insulted anyone who didn't vote the way you liked, accused lego of rigging the contest and now want people to be nice to you?

I wonder if we will get numbered cards like the UCS Millennium Falcon! That would actually be really cool. I think the first 10,000 had cards.

Maybe your "melted brain" should understand it was lego's contest so they get to chose which sets for the final 10 were picked then left it to votes. They then chose the one that had the most votes but they could of decided while this model had the most votes our analysts say its sales wont justify being made so we went with this other choice instead. Instead you come here complaining that lego rigged it, that anyone who doesn't agree with you has a "melted brain" The one you liked lost, get over it and move on and maybe find some professional help to deal with the issues you seem to have over a lego contest.

I dealt with them(canada side) when I worked in a hospital and when it came to promotion they expected you do to most of it yourself as they told me was to keep the cost of overhead of running the foundation down. That said I can't see them promoting it on twitter costing them much. It is great you do this Paul, and I hope some kid gets a very nice wish fulfilled because your efforts to support this charity and the sick children who could use a little bit of hope and enjoyment.

I don't know how many technic flagship sets get produced but 20,000 seems low? Then again I am assuming 9398 will still be in production at the time and half its assembly (bag one) will be able to be temporary put into the boss for a while. I am looking forward too it and hope lego does more of this in the future. I can't see the part count being much larger than 9398 at least.

It wasn't that good, if it was it would have won the contest. The Boss and ATV were the two best designed sets overall. While the enforcer was nice it was fairly large part count wise and lack of a brickbuilt model and nice youtube videos demonstrating it probably hurt it in the end. The better set won, it had a realistic part count, actual playability as it was demonstrated with youtube videos of it built. Muscle cars are awesome and the votes reflected on how great it is and the fact that lego is building it. You might want to direct your energies elsewhere as the final vote is done, the people decided that the boss was better than the 9 other final contestants. If you really disagree, bricklink all the parts create it , upload your own youtube videos showing us how wrong we are that it is actually playable with its part count and encourage other people to do the same.

People can't have different opinions I guess and if they didn't agree with you with what you thought was best obviously it was cheating. Anyone can still build the enforcer as the LDD files are out and anyone can use bricklink to buy the pieces they need along with a 9398.

Best technic sets without pf?
jadedomg replied to Rishab N's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have wanted 8455 since I got into lego technic but the high price keeps me away from it even if 10 pneumatics to control things is really cool. It is in my top 5 wanted sets that don't have PF -
If I was more skilled with using power functions and making my own moc's the price wouldn't be too high. I have been tempted to sign up for the local college that has the lego robotics class that way I could justify buying it :) Who knows what the future holds. As it is though for what you get if you have the skills to use it the price is fine, so if it was lower of course I would buy it.
-
Still cant wait :) $250 is a lot for a set I already have but supporting this project should also encourage lego to do it more often.

Motor Upgrade
jadedomg replied to Boxerlego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for sharing, I dont have steady enough hands to do most of this but could find a volunteer. I do like that you used the XL housing to keep everything close to lego as possible while pushing everything beyond the limits lego intended :) -

Wow that is great. I might have to learn how to do what you did to that motor just so I can have a kickass lego RC car ! -
Best B-Models of Technic Sets?
jadedomg replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I love 8043 B-model as well as 8053's harbor crane B-model was fairly unique. 8051 chopper I actually built that one instead of the original model :) After seeing this, I really want to build one. Shame red panels are so expensive but I believe I could do it mostly in black and still look good.
