Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
NoOneOfImportance replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
As much as it is exciting that LOTR seems to be returning, we do need to temper expectations... For all we know, it will be a Stranger Things situation of one D2C and a couple of Brickheadz, and that would be it. We don't know enough to speculate on tons of battle packs, and considering how few battle packs LEGO does for even Star Wars, I wouldn't expect much on that end... Also, 500 posts - Woo -

We'll almost definitely see something Ashoka-based this coming year, but I do wonder at what scale/context. -

I would honestly expect to see some comics-based set with Deadpool in it, but I highly doubt we will see a set based on the movie. Maybe an 18+ mask for Deadpool, but probably not an MCU figure until he inevitably appears in some PG-13 MCU film. -

This is true, but between there only being so many CMF slots per year, as well as the fact that they can bet on many of these characters appearing at a later time, there isn't as much of a rush to use budget and design resources for the figs. Also, if LEGO wants to keep up with CMFs generally being exclusive, they may want to wait to know if the same design will be used later before they put them as a "CMF exclusive" that falls flat. To some degree, this may be why they feel comfortable doing more What If figures: They know they will generally stay exclusive, and they are something more unique as a result (and inherently, considering some of the What If designs). -

Oh now I'm just wondering if they would possibly do a Winter Soldier based Quinjet... I would be so happy with that. It's not likely, given that the Quinjet wasn't the most prominent in that movie, but we'll see. My guess is either AOU or A1. -

I think price point is the biggest question here. If they did a nice $250 Gringotts with the Ironbelly being built at full scale, it could easily just be focused on those two builds, with Gringotts maybe having a full bank interior and some track. I feel like LEGO would focus on adding a good Ironbelly to go with the bank rather than building up an extra building for the set. -

Simply put, the Spiderman figures aren't meant for us. They are meant for kids. I totally get that they're not what a lot of people want, but just like mechs sell, these will sell - not just because they're big LEGO action figures, but because they are SPIDERMAN big LEGO action figures. I highly doubt that these are why the Sanctum didn't get a ton of new prints. More than likely it's due to budget being allocated to some other sets (whether the $500 or the January wave or something - they are releasing 3 Marvel D2Cs in one year, and they only have so much budget. I think a lot of people forget that LEGO is given specific budgets for themes/waves.) -

LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
NoOneOfImportance replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Honestly not all that great of an advent. While I get that they aren't made as army-builders, generally that is one of their great qualities, and this one, with its four Christmas figures, kinda fails at that. The mini-builds are okay, but it needed more figures of value to be worth it in my opinion. I personally like the fact that they have the Snowtrooper, battle droid, etc. (though bringing back more B2s after all this time would be nice), but I would have preferred a general P1 Clone instead of the commander, and another army-build figure like a Hoth Rebel or even a Stormtrooper instead of the "Summer Vader." -

Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
NoOneOfImportance replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Honestly, as much as I feel like the heads aren't the best, I really like these as well. And as much as the Iron Man one didn't necessarily sell the best at $40, I think these will do a lot better at $25-$30 - especially since they are Spider-Man. -

Lego Avatar 2022/3 - Rumors & Discussion
NoOneOfImportance replied to Mr No's topic in LEGO Licensed
Agreed on this. I think Avatar has some beautiful sets, but it's not going to sell as well as LEGO hopes. The first movie was a "flash in the pan," and as much as I'm sure a lot of people will go see the sequel because the first one was "the big movie" for so long, I really don't expect it to do that great, unless it truly has some amazing story and not just cool visuals. Not enough adults will care enough for these sets, and not enough kids will likely want them either. I think they're banking some on the cool helicopters and creatures, but even that won't save a theme from being a clearance buy for a lot of people. -

Loving the look of a lot of these, but not a big fan of the prices. As much as the ratios aren't bad, the builds just feel underwhelming for the prices... -

I believe you're right, yeah. P1 AT-TE drivers have definitely been seen, but nothing for EPIII. I was more referring to the 2013 set having the Commander as a driver since there wasn't a driver minifig included (before the joke of "doubling as a pilot" was a thing or stated and just because of only having so many figs in the set). I expect the AT-TE to sell out relatively quickly at first release, and then it'll be pretty easy to find on the second production run. It's a highly desired set with P2 Cody. If anything, I expect a lot of people to buy the AT-TE and sell off everything but Cody, so the aftermarket will be saturated with fig-less AT-TEs... We shall see. -

NoOneOfImportance replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
You say this jokingly, but LEGO did have a Clone Commander driving the AT-TE in the 2013 wave just because of character selection (even with the designated pilot in the gunship and such). It's just one less character design to worry about, I guess. -
LEGO Ideas Discussion

Fair, though I would say that The Office will be a relatively generic build as well - only recognizable from the fact of the layout being like the show (like B-99 would be). -

NoOneOfImportance replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
To be fair, LEGO has been consistently releasing sitcom kinda sets on the shelves at the same time - TBBT, Seinfeld, Friends, etc., so I don't know that this is the full reason. It may honestly just be an issue of license. It can't really be a content issue, as it's the same content-wise as TBBT or Friends as far as any sexual references, etc. LEGO also did turn down the office multiple times before accepting it, so it may just be a "not right now" situation too. Sounds like the creator is going to reupload the B-99 set to see if they can bring it up on the review a second time. -

Finally getting a UCS Millennium this Saturday. Anyone know the dimensions of the landing gear locations? Trying to figure out placement, and I may need it to overhang a bit. Just need to know the size of where the landing struts are. -
Definitely going to turn off a lot of people from getting CMFs now... As someone who has been feeling packages for these since series 16, it's kinda disappointing for me, and I may get some less figures as a result. I think people will start relying more on figure location guides in boxes to get what they want, but since a lot of stores have side racks instead of boxes, and since it's not going to be easy to find new boxes everywhere, I think this will only help so much... I'm expecting a lot more full boxes to be sold, and then reselling to be frequent.

@jodawill Those look really good! They definitely feel very "classic space" despite being mostly modern parts. And I would agree that the Space Squad is a great set. I have two (one still sealed), and I'm really glad to have them even more now that the GE is rereleasing.- 535 replies

I'm hoping that the new Wicket print means another Endor set soon, but we'll see. As someone who collects a lot of the Endor line, it would be nice not to have to get the 4+ for the new design. And the sand blue was also used a bit on the 2016 AT-ST as accents. I think it's just the small scale which makes it a bit more pronounced on this one. And as regards the other discussion, the RC should be coming this fall, yeah. I think 75303 was rumored as coming last year, so I'm guessing it's just a skipped set number at this point.
