I think this goes back to being limited by Prize count. If there are only six possible prizes at most, and we're already dividing into three categories by size - and there's a winner and runner-up in each... well then there's no way for further sub-divisions - be that physical v digital, adult v child, or any of the other subdivisions mentioned. Maybe if the physical v digital split is more important than the size split, or more important than having a runner-up prize, then it can be a runner. Personally, I don't think it's more important.

I'm quite happy with the set, but then again I had no expectations to be dashed. I'm looking at it as "Hey free BURPs". Rockwork slopes and masonry bricks always appreciated. And even some of those curved 1x2 slopes in black? All good.

I voted Barracuda Bay, as it was the set that roused me from my dark age back at the start of covid. At first I brought the childhood sets down from the attic, then I started looking up what Lego's current offers look like. No way I could spend 200 entire Euro on a single Lego set .. could I? My eleven-strong modular street will tell you how that went.. plus the theme park, plus the dozens of Bricklink orders.. For docks, brown please. Although a nice mix of brown and dark brown with a few black planks sprinkled in is for the best.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Yoggington replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I will see whenever I pick it up, but this may be the modular that benefits from an extra middle floor added. I see a lot of people do this with the Boutique Hotel (I personally did so for the bookshop). It would add some much needed gravitas, and free up some of the windows hidden by the banners. You could then re-jig the upper floor to not have the gaps and fill it with more exhibits. No more issue with it being dwarfed. There is some risk of it then becoming a big wall of olive though. I'll have to mock it up in Studio before anything. -
Well that's incredible. Lovely work.

I was gonna pass on this one. As much as I like the set idk if I have the space. But that's a fine price. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Yoggington replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Probably as simple as a sales strategy of putting your flagship product out in time for the Christmas market makes more sense than holding it in hopes of a January sales bump. A previous strategy of holding may have been wiser when there was only a handful of >€300 sets yearly. Seems like there's one every two months now. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Yes, you can buy the PDF instructions on Bricklink. Their idea for the MOC Pop Up store is that they'll create cart(s) for you, including the instructions, and all the pieces you will need. I see a lot of people on there asking for just the instructions. As a workaround, you can then remove the items/carts you don't need. For example, I removed everything bar the instructions, and just bought those. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Yoggington replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I also bought the instruction for the Glass Studio last week. I have yet to assemble the bricks - I want to build it out in stud.io and perhaps do some palette swaps before I tackle it over christmas - but looking through the instructions I am very impressed by @MingBrick's work here. The flooring angles have some elements we've seen in the Boutique Hotel, and some we've seen in that clever angled tower on the Lion Knight Castle, and some I've not even considered of being possible. The Museum is a little lacking, - a little boxy, - a little empty, - a little .. whatever the opposite of 'cleverly designed' is. It is by no means a bad set - I'll definitely pick it up. But for what I think should be Lego's flagship series, you would hope that we get improvements year on year, and every year's model becomes a new contender for top three in that series. And this doesn't do that. Sure it's bigger, but not particularly better. I've been of the opinion for a while now that Lego seem to invest more in their Chinese New Year sets (Spring Lantern is my favourite modern set), maybe trying to capture the lucrative Chinese market? If they did focus that budget and design team on a Chinese style modular, I'd be a very happy camper. -
Book III - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

I've also found a lot of these marks. It might be anecdotal - it's possible the colour scheme here with all the browns is making them more visible than usual, but it sure seems like more than I've seen any time recently. -
[MOC] Winter in the Raven's Wharf - Medieval City

I've been following these on YouTube and I've gotta say, this really is your best build yet. So much cleverness in each different part of it. Well done & keep it up. -
Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
Yoggington replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
So I'm disassembling my Lion Knight Castle before a house move and I come across this particular line in the Majisto commentary that is peppered through the instruction book (Book 1 page 2014): "This bell will do well to warn the townsfolk if the wolfpack marauders should one day return.." Most likely nothing.. buuuut if this is going to be a medieval "townsfolk" set - and would already have been in development near the finalisation of 10305 and instruction layout - Well maybe they dropped that particular line in as a hint that we'll see some Wolfpack in here to attack the village instead of the expected knights. One can dream of updated wolfpack torso prints. -
Aha, this is what I was looking for before. If this is a lock (and assuming there's no way to get hands on digital keys or additional funds), then I would think the best way to break down categories would be; Large build - 1st place & runner up prize (>1500 parts?) Medium build - 1st place & runner-up (100-1500) Small build - one prize only (<100 parts) This would restrict making any further divisions like digital v physical, or TFOL v AFOL, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. I think the next crucial piece of info then would be how often prizes can be available, e.g. how often can a competition happen - every two months? Every six, once ever two years? This would dictate how exactly you would want to theme each competition, what lead-in time builders have, how strict or loose the general ruleset could be (and how often it could be re-iterated)

Would a bi-weekly poll be every other week, or twice a week? I will (unsurprisingly) declare my love for the Islanders. There was never anything else quite like them.

Lovely ship as everyone said, but the blood mixing with the water is a fab little detail I gotta say.

Well it deserves both Very impressive work. Do update when it's put together with the rest. If this is anything to go by, it'll be one helluva display.
-
I don't believe this is possible on Bricklink, unless you qualify through their MOC pop-up store programme. Plenty of other sites out there for this purpose though, for example rebrickeable is the most well known. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/#hottest

Holy hell, I've never heard this one. As an Irishman I'll have to stick with calling it rainbow-building in front of the nephews at least. Couldn't be telling them to build some bollocks.

VIKING VILLAGE Ideas set via Target vote
Yoggington replied to jtooker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
There are a few minor quibbles I have with it. These are small things, I really do love it. And If you're using the set for display rather than play then these are all inconsequential. First is the rubber parts in the bridge as mentioned by another user above. String here would have been better. It's difficult to get them to not sit wonky. Second, the way the three main parts connect is clever with the clip on a straight side to a bar on a diagonal, but because it uses claw pieces inside holes (instead of fixed brick with clip, for the off-grid distance), there is a tendency for the claws to pop out of the hole, instead of unclipping if you separate the parts. Which is fine until you want to reconnect the parts and it becomes a case of getting these bars to line up with holes. Thirdly the roof on the long hall has a very exact positional requirement when placing it back on. Yet it's also not very rigid, making it tricky to get it to sit right. -

If we're wishlisting knights, I'd love a way to get my hands of some Raven knight for cheaper - even some kind of variant just with those colours. I have a small force of eight, but at the going market rate I'll not be increasing that ever. -

Best set I've purchased in quite a while. A lot of cleverness packed into a tight price point. -
You mean like this? So if you ever find one like this, you can google for "Lego" & the ID. E.G. "lego ID: 6441400/76923" This gives you the links for sites like rebrickeable & bricklink where I can see that it's a Dragon's jaw.

LEGO Ideas Discussion
Yoggington replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
While I like the idea personally, it always baffles me how many entries to Ideas don't fit the basic rules. They won't accept ideas for a series of sets ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ You could make 10k and the €500 voucher, but no way it makes the next stage as it breaks one of the basic rules.
