Boy do I disagree haha. I think the insect looks like a snail with a beak and the color scheme along with the unusual choice of part and print is exactly the type of risk taking and creative venturing I want out of Lego. I think they play it too safe sometimes and the figures come off as basic (that Faun girl is just a well printed city civilian with an animal accessory? No particular idea or trope or concept? Who is she and how is she collectible?). This Snailian is super creative I love him also I loved the care bear! Thats exactly the vibe I got from him and personally I would love if Lego expanded on two figures from previous series in forthcoming series. The Series 20 unlicensed Power Ranger and the Series 19 Care Bear. I would love more colorful bears with stomach prints and unlicensed colors for this Power Ranger-esque team. We got a Red Ranger and a Rainbow Bear, would love a Sunshine Bear and Blue, Pink, Black, and Yellow rangers. Not sure if Lego would risk making more as they may have some sort of copyright on the general likeliness but I personally think the unlicensed Care bear and Power Ranger are the best thing to come out of any recent series and would rather those get constant inclusions over the tired costume gimmick.

Gonna share my thoughts. Very disappointed definitely the worst cmf series imo (of the main line at least) Robot: I like this. Not the best robot ever (Evil Battle Mech remains supreme in my eyes) but not bad. Cute side build (will get) Chili suit girl: I was over these costumes how many series ago? I guess yay for whoever needed this costume in particular could see this being useful for a Food Court moc (not getting) :/ Bard: Love this fit, love the instrument, pennies, expression, concept, color scheme. Amazing, probably best of the series (1st choice to get) Snow Warrior: Glad we got older representation. Is this based on any particular folklore or culture? Nice sword but (not getting) Girl with horse: okay wtf? If previous cmf series are any indication this faun will eventually be available with bricks and pieces and will not be exclusive to this figure. Even if it is this completely defies what I expect from a cmf series. This violates the rule the Violin Boy from the previous series violated but in a new way. Whats her concept? Who is she? The prints and parts are useful but its literally just a girl and a horse? No existing trope, expansion of existing lore, use of a cultural phenomenon, nod to a historical figure or statue, just a figure with good printing who is essentially indistinguishable from any other city figure despite the quality of detail. Huge disappointment I hate her inclusion so much this is really just a girl and a horse am I missing something? (Not getting) Figure Skater: some gender swaps work for me (was excited about the lady cyclops and robot tbh) but this bores me and I feel like the S4 Figure Skater had much more personality. I will say however they would make a good duo and he gets the vibe across without being excessive. Someone out there will love this but he’s a definite pass (not getting) Moon Warrior: not really an existing trope so feel like much more could have been done with this. Would have loved a helmet shaped like a crescent moon that acts as armor. Feel like this could have been very abstract and she looks fine but definitely this concept could have been pushed further (crevice crater skin, crescent shaped helmet, etc) (will get but underwhelming) (reluctantly getting) Forest Spirit: I was really looking forward to this figure. He is a huge let down. I hate that he’s yellow. I hate that he’s a kid. I immediately thought protector of the forest or Satyr like Lorax-esque vibes of a forest dwelling elder with deep knowledge. I get that he could be immortal and thats why he’s so young looking, but I really think this would have been a. Good opportunity to give an older design since it’d be easier to convey wisdom with that age. Also feel like its conceptually lazy, I was expecting a Satyr, a Faun Man, maybe a goblin or orc like creature with wood skin? Protector of the forest swamp man vibes? Elder orc, maybe a non human or elderly figure. A young yellow kid in an acorn hat is very costumey and not not as creative as this concept could have ben executed. Huge disappointment I anticipated him the most (definite pass) Researcher: useful parts and colors, boring figure and redundant concept (not getting) Raccoon Girl: not the worst costume, not interested (not getting) Snail Alien: interesting fig! I love space figs they’re the best. Was not expecting this he looks so unique. Incredible figure that stands out even more considering how safe and uninspired or repetitive the concepts and figure we got this time. (Getting for sure) Wheelchair racer: love sports figs, love this concept, love this representation (definitely getting)

I hope not. If Lego follows the course they’ve followed for the past 3 years we’ll get a max of 1 new figure and they’ll have minimal printing and no new moulds, and the probability of a new concept is super low. Its almost guaranteed to be a repeat of something we’ve gotten if its for DC. They can always surprise but if they follow tradition this will be a very disappointing set. So hopefully its an X-Men or surprise comic based set with new comic based Avengers figs. Now thats something to look forward to.

Do we even have a rumor list for next years winter wave? Feel like I’ve heard nothing. Also unsure if I should get all the Hogwarts moments now, is it likely they’ll all discount again ever? In the states if that means anything

Thanks for the heads up! I got the charms set from Target in discount and am slightly annoyed I forgot to purchase the herbology class and even if its just a $6 mark down a part of me wonders if I should use this opportunity to complete all 4 books? I love the set I actually really like the book aesthetic but I’m annoyed my set didn’t come with one of the correct pieces so a connection for one of the side builds is really flimsy, but on the bright side I got a head piece for Fin that I ended up using for one of the Mandalorians in the Mandolorian battle pack. Still not fun missing a piece for a set but convenient wrong piece to be sent.

I have not been able to find that piece on bricks and pieces. On that note I wonder if I’m doing something wrong because people post hauls of large and various types of pieces and I can never seem to find the useful parts I’m looking for. I never have luck using part numbers or even titles and as I use that function I get tired of flipping pages for so long. I really don’t know how everyone finds these piece. If I can manage to find that one piece, I do believe i am likely to get the Hogsmeade set eventually (but would rather get it on discount) and that figure is perfect simply missing that hat hair combo which is perfection. It is worth mentioning however that I’m coming around to those pop up books. The silhouette of a book in Lego is quite charming and the fact that I can open them up to display a scene then stack the components together to fold into 4 books that when arranged together make it look like I have a bookshelf of Lego, its quite tempting honestly. Part of me thinks I may pick the 4 up eventually. Can see myself caving I am very impressed by the Harry Potter collection I think I’m set to pick up most of these builds eventually.

This new UCS AT-AT is beautiful and majestic and at that price point I could catch up on soooo many sets from my dark ages which is high priority so I think I’m doomed to gaze at this beast from a screen cause I don’t see how I’ll ever afford it but never say never ami right?

When I went to the Lego store they had a box of 24 (Bandmates Series 1) and grabbing one entire row of 12 on one side proved successful to get the entire series with no duplicates. If you happen to stumble upon a new box thats a safe bet I believe. on that note I actually love these figure designs and would love to get some while on sale. I haven’t seen any Bandmates series 2 at my local Lego stores or anywhere else. Any idea when the Series 2 Bandmates should be available in the US south? Also any idea what sets in this theme will retire this Christmas? My understanding is its just the beat boxes, I hope to get the Pirate Ship, Boombox Stage and Candy Castle next year, they should still be around after December right?

Kind of bummed the best mcgonagall figure came in one of those story time sets. I have absolutely no use for those pop up books. Really hoping that superior mcgonagall makes her way into a more useful set sometime in the near future. Also hope we get a better Bellatrix figure in this line eventually as well. And of course Gringotts Bank would be lovely to get to add to the Diagon Alley. But other than a few desires this reboot has scratched so many possible itches lol Trelawney has become one of my favorite figures ever.

I really want a Lego Squirrel girl figure. When the Fantastic Four make their debut (likely in 2023) I still hope Lego makes comic versions of the characters. Even if the movie designs are pretty close. Same with the X-Men but I imagine reasonable differences that would justify both releases will be made in some design choices. As it stand many MCU designs are fairly close or vaguely close so it varies. Random thought, I was looking at older polybags and the first Winter Soldier Polybag https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=5002943-1 is labeled Avengers Initiative. Most people regarded it as a Civil War figure but in that movie his black eyes are painted on, and his costume has little brown and is mostly grey. In the comics however, Winter Soldier has the black mask and is often depicted with brown straps on his armor. Not that it matters we can fit whatever design into whatever display we want so how they’re categorized is not that big of a deal, but I still wanted to ask. Does anyone else see that 2015 Winter Soldier polybag as comic based?

A few thoughts. The more I watch Disney content the more I realize I want Mickey with mid sized legs. He isn’t supposed to be as tall as Goofy wish he was a little smaller. Second, it’s obvious the Disney Castle is based off the one from Disneyworld but that has me viewing the Tinker Bell and Minnie/Mickey figs as adults in costume as opposed to actual representations of the characters. Which makes me wonder, how do you guys view the Disney castle? In my head, its part of a House of Mouse esque Universe where all the Disney properties interact with each other. But I could see how someone would view it as a literal Disney park with the figures acting as people in costume. How do you view your Disney collection? And that reminds me, I recently got the Castle and didn’t say anything about it. The build was a lot of fun and the design is so detailed and the colors are lovely. I adore everything about this set and its as spacious as I was hoping it would be. I am so happy I got this, but now I’m rushing to get the Train and Station before they retire. This Castle is definitely my new favorite set, and she’s displayed right next to my second favorite (Simpsons House).

I desperately hope some non cinematic comic or cartoon inspired sets make it out this year. I’d really hate if the Batman sets were all we got. We still need so much out of this theme I hope we get some kind of curve ball. I’d love to be pleasantly surprised by at least one new hero or villain or exciting new variant by years end. But I could definitely see these being our only standard sets with mosaics or art sets or polybags or battle packs thinning out the remaining waves. Hope I’m wrong

Is the tournament of elements retiring this year? Its a 2021 set but for some reason I think I saw it on a list of retiring soon sets and its currently out of stock pretty much everywhere. Does anyone know if I can wait till next year to scoop that one up? Currently just waiting a few days to purchase the Skull Sorcerers Dungeon. I think Zayns Mino Creature is probably gonna make its way home soon I can’t deny how much I love that Rhino, and the fact its not a Dragon makes it more appealing to me. I do wonder, while I don’t see them on this retiring soon list, its safe to say the video game wave won’t be available after Christmas right? 71712 could I wait till early next year to get that? Personally skeptical on whether its worth the $80 price tag too tbh. But if I don’t think its worth it now I’d hate to see aftermarket prices. Ninjago sets can rise pretty steep after a few years and its a theme I sort of dread catching up on.

So I finally picked up the Batman Harley Penguin pack with my recent purchase at the Lego store today. I gotta say I take back what I said about Harley, this figure is amazing! The hammer build is very disappointing and I got so many spare pieces with my purchase I truly believe a different choice of parts for that build and possibly including more parts for the hammer feels very plausible in hindsight. Besides that the face and hair combo is amazing, and I actually grew to love her face print. I still think a darker more sinister print should be made but I do enjoy this figure. Besides the ugly hammer design I guess I also wish she had dual molded legs or that the higher top hat mould used in the Series 18 clown figure was used for the Penguin. This older short top hat has had its moment already I really don’t know why they keep up with this piece.

I just got this set today with my purchase of the Roller Coaster and Upside Down. Its neat, figures have useful prints and pieces and then build is detailed and to the point. I personally think this will be a hard gift with purchase to top for me but I’m new to the whole VIP buying directly from Lego thing (been doing Toys R Us and Target for years) so maybe I’m just not sure what the standard for these freebies are but I loved this.

I called customer service about this. Basically what they said is since Modulars are Lego exclusives they are always updated when retiring so they would advertise both on the retiring soon page if they were retiring. This leads me to believe I should be good to buy that in January, but I may get it earlier just in case. Still need the Roller Coaster, Ninjago Sorcerers Dungeon, Stranger Things Upside Down, Pet Shop and Cafe as well, so not really looking forward to squeezing this in but based on what I was told this should be available January, since the modulars tend to be accurately advertised when retiring, they said its incredibly unlikely to retire two and only advertise one as retiring soon, especially considering the site specifically only updates retiring status for big exclusive sets like this. Still questioning whether I want the ship in a bottle too lol. Woah I saw this online you’re right! Definitely may head to my local Kohls then because I may be able to get 4 Privet Drive free if i buy the assembly square 🤔🤔

Hey all, I know the Corner Garage is confirmed to be retiring soon but is the Assembly Square also retiring? Is it possible both will retire this year? If so I do not know why they would only advertise one on the retiring soon page. I have a lot of purchases coming up and would love if I could save the Assembly Square for early next year. If only the Garage is confirmed to be retiring, what are the odds they have secret intentions to retire another modular at the same time with no confirmation? Would they do this? I feel like if I only see the Corner Garage as retiring soon, the Assembly Square should still be available for another year. Any thoughts?

Anyone else feel like this series had a super short life span? Maybe I just wasn’t paying attention but this series came and went it would seem. I never got an opportunity to see it in stores or get any. Wish this stuck around longer from what i was told by a Lego employee these sold extremely well.

Nearly headless Nick in both forms is just such a delight. I need to rewatch the films but looking online it would appear there were scenes were he was a dull grey and some angles where he did look ghostly and lit up, so both figures seem to serve the purpose of representing him at different angles. I must say the Centaurs and all the Dumbledore figures have been exquisite as well. But its Nearly Headless Nick for me. as for the worst, Hannah Abbot felt both really random and inaccurate, unsure what hairpiece I’d have chosen but she looks like a generic blonde rather than any particular character from the film. But I love Belltrix as a character and to need to order her rather expensive 2010 figure to complete her dress and face print is incredibly disappointing so definitely my pick for worst is Belatrix, because correcting her is expensive and I had the highest hopes of adding her since character wise she is my favorite villain of the franchise.

It would have been 2 years by now so its pst the normal shelf span, but the Great Hall and Whomping Willow were still available for most of 2021 so maybe the 2019 sets have a bit linger than I expect? Not looking to take chances. Also I agree! The Goblet of Fire sets were incredible and its one of my favorite movies of the franchise along with Order of the Phoenix and Deathly Hallows so there is definitely a need to have those in my collection. I must say though, the new Bellatrix was very disappointing to me. While I don’t own the Burrow just yet her lack of dress print, inaccurate face print that does not capture her essence, it was all a let down. I think the old dress slope print and old head from 2010 still do the character more justice than this design which is upsetting. Molly Weasley also felt like a step down to me as well.

As most I a hoping Zurg makes his way into a set next year. Not a fan of the original set he came in and would love an updated figure. Not related to anything coming up for 2022. But recently decided to start getting Lego cars and felt like commenting on something that happened during this hunt. I found not too many listings for a sealed copy of Flo’s V8 Cafe, but as I edited the filter to include ships to US, I found only 3 listings! Naturally I placed an order immediately as I know how quickly things can develop on brick link. But it was definitely a learning lesson for me. Sealed copies if desirable sets will not always be available! Heck I was interested in a sealed copy several Hero Factory sets that simply are not on the market anymore. Thats right most Hero Factory Invasion From Below sets have no or extremely limited options for sealed sets. So I don’t know who needs to hear this but that set you missed in your dark age? Jump on it! Check the listings that ship to you, you may see a few options and think you’re good, but those seller’s may not support orders to you and if you wait long enough a pre-owned build may be what you settle for. Not the end of the world but stark reminder that sealed versions of every set will not be around forever. I feel bad because I left the United States with just two options for sealed versions of Flo’s V8 Cafe! Unless you want to book a trip to Germany and have one of those sellers ship one to your hotel, that is. Anyways, watch out for listings of your missed valuables. They may not be up forever.

So I am pretty happy. I placed an order on Bricklink for the great hall and got it for around 90. Shipping costs bring it up to around $130 but that is still not too far off what it retailed for. I’m currently rushing to get all the 2019 sets before they discontinue and feel like the only remaining 2018 set I may get is the Quidditch Match. very excited to announce I also managed to find the Whomping Willow on discount! I placed an order and will be picking it up today from my local Target. That set is ready to fly off shelves and be retired so the fact I managed to schedule a pick up while the set is somehow still available and on discount makes me very happy. Now all I need to do is get these 2019 sets while they’re still available. Hoping some sort of Shriek Shack and mer people challenge makes its way to us eventually
