  1. No its not just you. Their newer animated movies lack detail and have a very forced and cringy action movie tone to them. The character portrayals is not really the zenith of how these characters can be depicted. Their cinematic movies suck and instead of stopping, or revisiting the talent and approach to these properties they just keep pumping them out. Its clear the higher ups at DC and warner bros are tone deaf to the needs of the audiences they serve. DC is a mess and that results in Lego sets that feel repetitive and lackluster. I’d love for a break and to hear rumors of the theme in coming years at a time where DC gets its act together. I want to work for DC one day because I feel not enough people on the inside of the company know how shit needs to be done. edit and as a source of reference Ninjago is what I wish this theme resembled. A solid mix of structures and vehicles, mechs, and giant animals with figure selections high on detail and abundant with variants so when a character appears a few times its largely in different costumes. I’d love for sets that weren’t just vehicles with figures that occasionally had good detail. And if Lego is going to keep this theme they may as well improve it but the pace and direction its carried for years needs to change or at least go back to what it was in its prime.
  2. Saw the set leaks. Here are ma thoughts. Or rather reveal? They’re on shelves as far as I know 76193 - The Guardians Ship - My understanding was that this ship was titled the Benetar. Not sure why they went with this title. Anyways its pretty good. Interior is on par with the original milano and its not a huge improvement but its not as tight packed as the GotG2 ship Groot looks really good, Starlord looks amazing with those boots, Rocket still looks off and I resent his grey color, Mantis really should have had leg printing and I think without it she looks a bit boring. Not unacceptable tho. Thor is a complete let down. This set is the best of the wave imo. 76186 Black Panther Flyer - terrible. The design of the ship is aesthetically unappealing and the thin wings look unfinished and choppy and I really think another piece or pieces could have rounded out the silhouette of the wings that just look like scrawny little moc designs. Black Panther is based on a design heavy on detail and say what you want but for me personally the lack of arm and leg print is super megablocking noticeable. Shuri got neither a cloth or leg print and she is also based on a design that really needed one or both. Chitauri comes in other sets, the figure selection and designs are weak and so is the build. 76192 Avengers Endgame Final Battle - a bit overpriced. The leviathans, Thanos’s ship, rubble, the portals, the pegasus’s, the devastated wartorn compound after the invasion, many ways to interpret the final battle and we end up with another compound and a van? The compound is nice for what its worth but I think this is a weak interpretation of the final battle. Wish it was titled Avengers compound. Not that it makes a difference. Hopefully One day we can get a leviathan with portals and pegasus’s. Scarlet Witch’s face looks manly and wrong haha hair is also inaccurate needs cloth or leg print. Thanos is perfect again just wish Thor had a new hair piece. A decent set hopefully in a future legacy wave we get a final battle that covers a different element of that fight. 76190 Iron Man: Iron Monger Mayhem - over-scaled. Obadiah Stane is easily customizable. Pepper Potts has had better releases. Easy pass. 76189 Captain America and Hydra Face Off - decent bike. Decent figs. Could see how kids would be very satisfied with this set. All in all 2/5 were largely let downs and 3/5 have something going for them but they all have imperfections. A decent wave but I was expecting something very strong on accuracy and set concepts so I guess I had my expectations too high.thats just reflective of how strong the eternals and previous waves have been. heard a rumor that Carnage and Spider Gwen are coming in the bugle. Honestly haven’t we gotten like 3 Spider Gwen’s and like 4 or 5 Carnage’s at this point? I would have preferred Gwen Pool but what else can they do with that design? I’m largely expecting the “and many more” hints on insta to refer to civilians. I’m a little anxious what if we had an issue with mistranslation and SpiderWoman is not appearing? What if we’re only getting Spider Gwen? We were rumored a cloth skirt for Shuri and new hair for Thor as well as inconsistent reveal date claims this year. With the official translation revealing a spider Gwen I’m anxious that the Spider Woman rumors aren’t true. Figure selection for the bugle is kind of a let down so far too many repeats at least could have been omitted or replaced with more lucrative figs. I highly doubt their designs will differ from what we’ve already gotten Edit before people tell me to calm down I’m not literally worrying just wondering if the inaccuracies in leak rumors and the recent online translation of the bugle description can allude to a miscommunication on which spider gal is coming out. Tis all.
  3. Finally someone else independently expressing this thought. couldn’t agree more. This theme has always focused on Batman but in recent years has opted to no longer include even the small number of leaguers we were previously given drizzled into his sets. Now its just Batman and his family against his most popular rogues in redundant designs that neither include detailed printing or smart part usage. The builds have been uninspired and the waves small from an early point of this theme but as time passes you just can’t help notice the simplicity each newer wave has brought. The theme showed promise at a certain point but has been on the same not for far too long and shows no sign of stopping. I vented about this a few times here but I think the theme should take a break. Wait for DC animation and cinema to hopefully get their act together and produce great content and maybe then can we see a Lego DC line worth making. If Batman is the one and only character that can sell and he doesn’t even sell more than 2 regular retail sets a wave then maybe this theme is too weak to continue. I was so excited in 2012 when this theme leaked. I day dreamed about different waves covering different aspects of the DCEU. A Teen Titans wave, a Green Lantern wave for each corps etc. but its the bleak reality that at best a handful of these characters will be sprinkled in a bat set. But Lego won’t even compromise like that anymore. Its just the same characters releasing in worse designs than they’ve ever gotten and newer builds that bring nothing new to the table and are less aesthetically pleasing than usual. Even in asking for a break, its reliant on the figurative hope that Warner Bros will get their animated and cinematic game together. We aren’t allowed to discuss it here but that huge influence is what drove Snyderverse discussions. Because the cinematic universe undeniably plays the biggest role in the popularity of the brand. If DC continues to release cheap animation with awkward plots and character portrayal as well as cinematic ventures that don’t work (sorry but I didn’t think the Snyder Cut was that great, I just don’t like his take on the DC universe and think he’s not fit to work on any DC project) then wht’s the point of reviving the theme. tl;dr I also want a break but its only effective if DC gets their content in order first to ensure the brand is popular enough to receive a reboot worth buying. The years of DC “getting their act together” with their cinematic properties should be a break because the content is dull.
  4. From the blurry pics everything seems to have came together well. Based off the leaks the figures are uninspiring but seem to pass for most people so I suppose thats fortunate. The builds themselves seem to actually be really good. The new Thanos looks amazing. Interesting that the New Asgard and Benatar didn’t leak as I was the most excited to see those (especially New Asgard). Now its just a waiting game for high quality reveals and the Bugle set images. For what its worth the tight grip on leaks and the ambiguity of release dates has made this an interesting year to keep up with lego leaks.
  5. A new little set dropped. 41693 Surfer Beachfront. Honestly love it. The teal and yellow color scheme is very South Florida. The little waterside palm tree is a nice detail I honestly love the set. The new child body is a bit weird tho. The arms are so stiff, wish they made a smaller head to accompany it because the kid mini dolls look like awkward bobble heads lol Anyways so many interesting recolors of head pieces in this upcoming wave. The builds aren’t the best but a purplish pink ponytail, princess leia hair in aquamarine, Frozen hair bun in red, a lot to see. As for the rest of the wave. I am so excited for another school. I plan on getting the hidden side and original friends school and using all of them for figures. I may have mixed figure and mini doll settings. But even though I’ve grown to really appreciate the builds for Lego friends, the dolls aren’t always my cup of tea. I love the elves dolls because of the designs but just regular mini dolls in human clothing kind of bore me. The new hotel is also a must have. Besides those 2 large builds and the surfer set the wave is meh.
  6. What a steal. I always find that set for around 40 and I hate myself for missing out on that and the Avenjet. As much as I love my new Captain Marvel I need that version, love Hyperion and that is my favorite Thanos release from Lego. I’m pretty sure nothing has been confirmed and the Bugle release will most likely catch all of us off guard. I’m excited to see how tall it is, if any secondary builds or structures were included, and what designs were chosen for Peter, Spider-woman, just how they come out. Did anyone confirm if that Daredevil leak was legit? I know its early but I saw a post compiling all the Marvel figure packs released so far. They’ve been so good. Lets analyze • 40343 - New Maria Hill looks great. Ned is amazing and the Spidey figure is a repeat but who cares. • 40418 - Unpopular opinion I love army building these AIM agents. I think Falcon is the best new figure to come from these packs and we’ve gotten Ned and Wong so that says a lot lol. Wish Black Widow was someone else but these tend to have at least one repeat. • 40454 - Definitely the worst. Venom is oversaturated and especially unwelcome in a figure pack setting. Pork Grind carries this pack. The venomized Iron Man is a convenient new print and I’ll admit I didn’t “ask for it” but am happy to see this variant. I guess spidey is somewhat useful in that I’m not interested in any set with his new arms so its a nice way to get that. But as I’ve said before without the web printing on the boots, the arm detail makes the figure look unfinished imo. • 5005256 - This Infinity War pack may be the best. Tony is a great variant. Bucky’s best release. Wong is amazing new figure to get. War Machine is convenient if you missed him in a set. Overall super excited to see what new figure pack comes in 2022. I’d love to see more than one actually. So far 2/4 have been comic packs and 2/4 MCU packs. This year was a comix pack so I guess next year is another MCU pack. Excited to see.
  7. Finally some good news. Just want to remind everyone of the 2008 Tumbler that had an Ice Cream Truck obviously inspired by the ice cream truck chase scene in TDK but the joker had a comic inspired print. The goon was also generic. I believe the batman figure may have been generic or based on TDK. What if this new Tumbler doesn’t have a cinematic figure lineup? Just a random thought but I’d love a mini-fig scale Tumbler with like a Hawkgirl or Black Canary thrown in. Unlikely but I’d love for them to take this opportunity to give us a new leaguer. That said if it is completely cinematic inspired I would hate to see the camo version. We already got that in 2013. One is enough. Its time for a figure scaled black tumbler. And if they’re never going to follow up on the Nolan films with regular retail sets again, they may as well include figures from 2 or all 3 films. We already got Bane and Commisioner Gordon and while many would love revamps I’d love to see characters who have yet to get a figure such as Scarecrow, Catwoman, Ra’s Al Ghul/Thalia, Harvey Dent, Two Face, or even Lucius Fox. I wouldn’t mind seeing Rachel Dawes or the imposter Batmen either. With so many to choose from maybe they should follow up with more sets. But I’m excited to see what direction they take this. Hope its black. EDIT: Speaking of Hawkgirl, has anyone had good experiences with the print on the Hawkgirl figure? I’ve seen many stories of the figure having really bad torso print that doesn’t match with the color of the legs and the color is dull and faded on the torso. Did anyone ever get a good print or was Hawkgirl just produced bad? I also hated how large they made her panties they made them look like shorts. Wish they’d give her a newer design with her pants and a specialized helmet mold.
  8. Surprising to hear. Guess I know literally nothing about the inner workings of this theme. I agree. The set choices are infuriating for adult fans of both DC and Lego but there is most likely a strategic reason behind the decisions made. That said, i agree also on the DC front. Marvel is kicking our megablocks and I still believe in the potential of the universe. Its the decision makers at Warner and the animation departments that are letting DC Become the mess it is today.
  9. Yeah its nice that I made up my mind quickly because the longer I denied my interest in the theme, the higher the aftermarket prices rise. But there is just a lot that I want. In reality its at least 4-6 sets a year some years more some years less but for a theme thats a decade long, plus including the movie sets, its gonna add up. That’s not even taking in mind the other themes that I liked during my dark age. Sometimes I get flustered by how good Lego is at making toys haha. i dunno I always buy sets new and sealed. Basically look for clean closed boxes not sure how preowned stuff would appeal to me.
  10. Not sure if anyone can relate. I don’t usually buy Ninjago and I’ve recently started realizing how much I want from this theme. Basically every year has a handful of sets that I want to buy. Even the original 2011 waves have sets that I really want to add. As of now I don’t own too much in Ninjago and after scrolling through the shop I saw that there are currently a lot of really expensive sets that I want in my collection. Older sets that are retired that I want as well. I really love this theme, the figure designs and set choices. I love this theme. I can’t really be mad I didn’t buy sets before since I’m a young adult who had to prioritize other things besides Lego since I entered adulthood. But wow it’d have been nice to be born into a rich family so I could have collected this and a host of other themes that have come out since 2011 lol. I have decided that slowly but surely I do want to order every Ninjago set that has peaked my interest. It just sucks that so many interest me. There are even sets I decided I don’t beed but would love for the builds themselves. The figures rarely disappoint either. I’m in for an expensive future but I’ve decided to officially collect Ninjago. Now I have to pick up the stone, island, and video game sets before they retire lol.
  11. My mistake. If the Bugle releases in June I suppose that reveal has to come this month as well , no?
  12. I thought it was confirmed that the reveals for Marvel were coming around the 10th or 11th of May.
  13. My understanding was that this theme sold less than other themes and that was why we receive a small quantity of sets in general. I’m still confident that Lego’s current approach isn’t having the impact it could if it changed to meet the demands of AFOL’s. I saw someone on insta put it well. That Lego has made sets better than the past few years. The Blue Beetle Scarecrow set is a good example of including a non Batman hero in a Batman setting. The recent Shazam Riddler set was also a combo of hero and Batman vs Bat villain. We have a precedence for better content there is something to be said that the past few years have been comparably bad compared to older releases.
  14. In less than a week I will see if Spiderwoman got a good print. Most figures these wave did not get leg print besides 2 that leaked with dual molded legs. I’m really hoping that’s because Spiderwoman took up all the good leg detailing. She’s what has me the most anxious about the reveal of the Bugle lol.
  15. I am happy to see the amount of disapproval this set has thus far received. Never understood why people would want a giant version of a vehicle and wish they normalized regular retail versions of these vehicles in the first place. If DC sales are low maybe experiment with a few sets dedicated to these franchises? Imagine a $50 retail Tumblr with Batman, Harvey Dent, Joker, Scarecrow, and a Henchmen. And another set with Catwoman, Thalia al Ghul and Ras Al Ghul. Just examples but I think that would be smarter than sprinkling a few of them in giant versions of these designs. It amazes me how poorly the reception for these concepts is both online and in actual sales and they never change their approach. I would love to change Lego’s approach. What petition website would be best to create a petition to change Lego DC? Would they read any mail I send them? I know it sounds corny but I would like to some how communicate these thoughts to the Lego group. If fans don’t buy what you’re putting out, evaluate why that may be. Low quality print, set choices that are unappealing and a repetitive roster of heroes means we probably already have a better version of the figure you’re giving and the build is of no interest. It seems quite obvious what Lego needs to do to fix this theme.
  16. I’m only looking forward to the bugle and even then I’m not sure what to expect of the builds or the figures. I hope Spiderwoman gets leg printing
  17. Completely agree. I was here anticipating the announcement of a vehicle from the Burton or West era that had yet to be released. I want to scream I’m very upset by this news. Not only do we have to deal with the D2C’s being oversized bat vehicles, they have to cover each bat vehicle and make it regular, micro, and mega scaled. AND THEN THEY HAVE TO REPEAT THESE OVERSIZED BUILDS. A second oversized Tumbler? Literally why? There’d be solice in knowing we are getting an oversized bat vehicle that hasn’t been made but holy cow this theme makes such unappealing set choices. I was excited for this theme, remember thinking “its no longer just Batman, its all DC we’re gonna get so much!” And here we are. Its Lego Batman part 2 but with suprisingly less variabliity in the builds. Who said we had to get them at the same time? I would hope for an eventual D2C that covers something either non Batman or non vehicle at the least, but the anouncement that our next oversized vehicle will be a REPEAT. Holy crap I am so tired. Like I would pay the lego group to just make sets off something else. Just because it is never going to happen here are some D2C’s I would create if I had the power to do so • Gorilla City • Titans Tower • Hall of Doom • Jokers Fairgrounds • Wayne Tower • Wayne Manor • Arkham Asylum (modular connecting series) • League of Assasins Hideout • Fortress of Solitude • Themyscira • New Genesis • Downtown Gotham • Oa • Lexcorp Tower • Watchtower • Hall of Justice I was alright expecting this to be an oversized 60’s Batcopter, 60’s Batmobile, 80ms Batboat or Nolan verse Batwing or modern Flying Fox in giant mode. But a giant version of a vehicle we already got? This theme is so bad it frustrates me. I’m a really big DC fan so the continuous bad news is just so demotivating. Like bro just take a note fans never respond well to this online you can say its a childrens toy but D2C’s usually cater to an older audience and this older audience may be supporting this “enough” to produce but we are very vocal on all platforms that other projects would be much more popular to us. I want so much I have grown to accept won’t be made. I want Hawgirl and Black Canary remade in a few different variants. Doomsday, Bizarro, even Livewire. I don’t even know what to expect of this theme I think its cineamtic retail sets and oversized versions of vehicles we’ve already gotten forever. I’m thinking of sending a few etters to the lego group. Do you think an online petition would get their attention? I want to do something about how terrible this theme is.
  18. My complaint is kess with the builds and more the new moulds. I think for the age range these huilds are appropriate and fine. I remember strongly disliking certain city sets at certain points and these sets don’t inspire that type of disappointment. I do however wish the elephant could pose its head and trunk and even wish the legs were posesble. Same with big figures, I wish Lego started to innovate ways to allow motion for larger moulds. For example instead of one stsndard big fig body mold, its just the torso, so legs and head can be customize able. With peg holes similir to the existing arm sockets. I think the same basic body mould and arm and leg attachments can be made for larger animals which would potentiallly result in elephants with brick built legs. Or lions as just the body mold and the legs are attached seperately either as new pieces or again brick built. Its just an idea but the stiffness of the design is what really dulls the reveal for me. Oh darn I was hoping for a baboon. The eye detail seems fun however. I agree we need hyenas, hope they’re laughing and it‘d be wonderful if Lego could recreate the Worgs from LoTR type of mold so the mouths csn open forthe hyena.
  19. Are we getting more than just these 3 sets for the animal subtheme? Whats the official name of this subtheme anyways? 60300 - cute little jeep nice way to get a monkey 60301 - I almost complained about this simplicity of the build until I saw it was 4+. Depending on the price I may just BrickLink the lion and cub the build does not intrigue me, but it may be cheaper in the end to just buy the set we’ll see. Love that new snake print 60302 - whats the white thing in the bushes by the alligator? Is that a baboon mould? It seems there is another animal by the water. Little shed is my favorite side build and the baby elephant is adorable. I agree with a comment I saw about how Lego would have done good to mold the elephants like they did for the orient expedition sets. Back in the 80’s/90’s Lego made elephants with poseable heads, trunks, and it seems the legs may have even been poseable. Even if it was just the head and trunk I wish they carried that over here. The elephants are adequate but I think more could have been done with the idea.
  20. Because my figure selection shows me it hasn’t always been like this. My Spiderman, HobGoblin, Doc Oc figs on the shelf next to me all have dual molded legs. The Rescue, Black Widow, Iron Man, War Machine, and Captain Marvel on that shelf all have leg print. A piece exists that would work well for dual molded legs for my Cap. Lego’s wave last year with the Squre Enix designs had some amazing figures with great printing. Not every wave is this bad. I remember the Infinity war figures impressed me, and I admired the Eternals leaks from earlier this year. I express both gratitude and criticism for Lego products and I’m just saying further down the line, considering this theme is probably evergreen, Lego should fix some of these flaws. Thats all. I’d love to see a Legacy wave that compels me to pick a set up. This just won’t be that wave edit I have seen her hair she has an up do similar to the piece she got but its braided and leads to a long braid down her back or side. Lego could have at least printed the braid or sculpted a new piece. This piece is textured hair maybe in a bun she had long braided hair. Look at Anakins Padawan figure they’ve been able to print braids without sculpting new pieces before. edit again I want to just say I apologize if I sound too negative if I had made my account a few years back I’d have had a lot of good to say about the Homecoming, Far From Home, Infinity War etc waves but I joined when lego made Spidey vs Venom every other wave and then this
  21. Looking at this made me realize the neck armor should have been a purple and they made it the same shade of blue as the rest of the torso (which also seems to be miscolored but is close enough). Another minor error in the new Shuri figure. Say what you guys want about these figures being “good enough” but I’d like to see some attention to detail moving forward. Lego sets seem to cost more for less these days (a $60 2021 set is like a $50 2013 set) and I’d like to see good quality print in these expensive toys. Especially considering the rumored builds sound weak (no portals, we already got the avengers compound if this does not add to that its basically the same set redid. It will only work if it expands and connects to the older one).
  22. Yeah pretty much every figure this Marvel wave has been on the same level of previous releases if not less impressive. I get the argument of “they can only budget to give a few series quality detailed printing and other themes need it more” but I don’t want to give the lego group much slack. So far this leak season; • Rocket Raccon - wrong color • Shuri - incorrect hairpiece and missing leg print • Scarlet Witch - inaccurate face print and expression (smile plus double smile?) • Black Panther - missing leg and arm printing and I don’t care how low everyone else’s standards are, taking into consideration the design that inspired the figure, this new BP is bad. • Thor - no new hair piece me cry • Iron Man - needs arm printing but he works alright • Mantis - needs leg printing another new leak thats a but of a let down. At least we can swap her hair and face because the torso print is nice.
  23. I mean yes. I don’t mind more of the same concept (DC got me used to seeing Lego pump out the exact same concept with gradually decreasing quality) but I need it to be executed at least to the same standard of the one before it. What even is the price point for the new castle? It looks so hollow and empty, a shadow of the older builds. If its anything more than $30 its a sign of inflation. Considering we’re getting a D2C frozen castle and we’ve gotten 2 solid builds already, this empty little structure feels both pointless and disappointing in comparison to the others. Olaf is the best we’ve gotten him though. His mouth has detailing on it, he has blue printed on the empty space of his mouth as opposed to leaving it all white. The new Belle’s castle is a huge let down. Hope eventually they give that build (and as many of the Disney princess castles as they can tbh) the D2C treatment because these Disney Princess interpretations lack both detail and accuracy. The new blue dress Belle is lovely however. Excited to see if the Frozen exclusive has mini figures or dolls because if its figures it’ll only add to me hope that both the builds and character designs of the current princess line get a more detailed system release eventually. As for the moulds, I think Lumierre, Olaf, and Flounder transcend the mini figure or doll design and are adequate as they came to be used as accessories. The Maryweather mould can maybe work but I could also see them producing a new fairy mould for the Sleeping Beauty fairies. I’d hate to see them as minifigures but I also see them taking that route considering Tinker Bell
  24. Just saw the leaks. Some thoughts • 71753 Fire Dragon - probably the best fire dragon from Ninjago as far as I can tell. This is the definitive red dragon for me. • 71739 Ultra Sonic Raider - I love legacy sets but does that mean the same exact concept needs to be on shelves every 3 years? Not bad but I have 1 and its enough for me • 71756 Hydro Bounty - love the shape of this build. Its like an underwater limousine. The manta led carriage for the villain is beautiful I really love this manta piece. Its reminding me of Space Police it looks like a build they’d give to some intergalactic gangster. The small submarine pod stands out it looks rich and ornately designed. Build seems to have a lot of space and the figures are amazing. Not sure if I’ll pick it up due to costs and savings but its amazing 71755 Temple of the Endless Sea - eh. Naturally the figures look amazing but the actual temple is a few fragmented and not quite depth defined structures and the bulk of the build seems to have gone to the guardian snake (excuse the language I don’t watch the show) I kind of wish that buildable snake had been a smaller build and the temple was more fleshed out. That said the guard dog snake build is the highlight of the set. But I feel underwhelmed by the temple itself. edit forgot 1 of my standouts • 71754 Water Dragon - slightly disappointed that I’ll have like 3 of the big bad but the rest of the figure selection is decent. The wings are my favorite they harken back to the folded over tail design many mermaids are given. The scaling and details on the tail are great. Love that they moulded a dragon headpiece for this and the fire dragon because the brick built heads weren’t always working (sometimes they did).
  25. Not saying you’re wrong on the expectability of their cheapness, but I don’t think people were hoping for the same one. I was personally hoping for a black vest and brown shoes as opposed to the orange vest and black shoes of the train version. But thats on the assumption that Lego would have gave this figure leg printing which was clearly not going to happen. I don’t know about Pluto. My first thought is he looks like a duplo mould. He isn’t necessarily incorrect he reminds me of the animation style of Mickey Mouse clubhouse. But he looks a bit like a duplo figure I can’t explain it.
