I'm in the camping camp too. Not so much because I think the GWP will sell out that quickly, but because the sets I want to buy to get it may be gone. That's a very small subset of what LEGO sells, and it probably overlaps with what most of you all want too. Time to sharpen my virtual elbows?

I'm sorry that you've not got your set yet. They did say that the sets would be shipped in June, although that was back in February and things are pretty tricky in global shipping and supply chains right now. But it must be frustrating, and it sucks. They haven't done a good job on this program and they could have done better. However, I'm still pleased that the program exists at all. Hope you get your sets soon.

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
RichardGoring replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The issue I see with it is that the new Rings of Power series is a TV show on a streaming service, which limits its potential audience compared to the films that were general release at the cinema. In the end it could well be that the same number of people actually watch it, but do these things get the same media coverage as films? Game of Thrones did, but are there many more? Maybe that reduces the marketing appeal on sets of the TV series somewhat. Stranger Things got one set, not a wave. Partly that might be because of the limited number of things they could do, but could well be because of a perceived lack of audience? Then there's the fact that the new Rings of Power show isn't the same as LOTR. There's a few overlaps in characters, but it's a totally different story, at a completely different time. So the things that people will be familiar with from the mainstream books and movies won't feature. Does that also limit it's appeal for LEGO to produce sets for it? New Line are seemingly involved in some way, so maybe they could do old and new sets combined, like they're doing with Avatar. But in general, I think I'd prefer them to do a few cool castle things, rather than half-hearted LOTR sets. The lack of licensing also suggests better value for money on the castle sets, and there has been enough pent up demand for castle stuff that it will hopefully be wildly successful.- 2,976 replies

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
RichardGoring replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
That sounds amazing! Will have to try it. -
I can see your point. The tower dominates, and if you look at it getting the wrong angle, you only see the loops. But from the other side, you see the coaster rail drop too, and I think that balances it out much better. It's certainly more modern than the classic styling of the last one. I prefer the last one, but this looks really cool, and it's less obviously 'LEGO' in style.

You know what, I forgot about the BAM tower. I didn't have long, and it was really busy, so I focused on the PAB wall, as that's best source for MOCs that I will probably never build, but would love to, one day.
-
I went to the Disney Springs store a few weeks ago and was really disappointed by the PAB wall. It's huge compared to a regular store, but most things were doubled up, so it didn't feel like it had more parts than a standard store. And all the pieces there were pretty dull - certainly nothing that excited me. I left with nothing. The store itself is cool. The displays are excellent. They have pretty much every set (they were out of the McLaren F1 car, which is what I was looking for). The design your own minifigure station looked cool, but there was a wait time of over an hour when I arrived at about 6:00pm, so plan accordingly if you want to try that. I hope you have a great time and get what you want.

LEGO Ideas Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's definitely going to motorized, which will bump up the costs a lot. -
I wondered that. I hope that it's just old T&Cs, where Bricks & Pieces were excluded, and they've not updated it to remove the old service name. I've got a large order waiting from the updated service now that it's back, which would pretty much get me to the threshold.
-
In the past I've had several GWP. Each order you place that meets the threshold will usually qualify for the GWP, but they do have to be separate orders. I say usually because there have been reports of people having a GWP show up in their cart during the second order, but then it being cancelled later on. I recall it being in Europe that this happened, so there's a chance it may happen for you, but it seems unlikely. FWIW, I usually place a second order on the second day of the promotion, because although I sometimes like to get two, I prefer others to get one, given the availability issues some of them have had in the past.
-
And if it does, it will be easier to reach the threshold, as that's when the prices go up.

Unpopular Opinions about LEGO
RichardGoring replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Agreed. The Jurassic Park T. rex breakout brick-built dinosaur looks much better than the moulded ones. Although I also realise that it's far less practical for play to do this. -
I wonder how many of these inflated price items actually sell. I have a Craigslist alert for LEGO and the same high priced sets keep coming through each month. People often quote the listing price, but rarely the 'sold' price. Seeing actual sold prices on Bricklink is nice for that, and it's generally a chunk lower than listings on Amazon or eBay.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
RichardGoring replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
In rather frustrating news, StoneWars had pointed out that the new Forestmen GWP won't count Bricks & Pieces orders towards the $150 threshold. https://www.stonewars.de/news/lego-40567-forest-hideout-erstes-bild/ However, you can't order from Bricks & Pieces any more, as it's all Pick a Brick. So maybe it will be fine and this is just old T&CS that they've not changed. Hope so, as I've built up a decent sized order list while it's been offline. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

They may be looking at ways of making it more efficient for them, before they consider scaling it up. Or they may just be looking at how to cut costs and limit the budget of the service, not really caring if it's over capacity. -
I was fully expecting that by now everything on my wish list would be out of stock. But there's still a reasonable proportion of it available, so here's hoping it lasts for another two weeks ready for the GWP release. Definitely feels like it's going to have to be a stay up until midnight situation to make sure there are enough sets on my wish list available.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
RichardGoring replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
It may be system/space/facility limited rather than people. And/or they could well be losing money on this, or have a very low profit margin. Continued as a service for fans to support their general appreciated for LEGO and to boost their set buying behaviour, but not something they want to focus on. The update was likely to reduce costs and make it more efficient? I clearly don't know. Just speculating. -
LEGO Ideas Discussion

21334 Jazz Quartet appears to have been found on shelves in a Target. just2good has a video on it - UNREVEALED 2022 LEGO IDEAS SET FOUND IN STORES! - YouTube, which is based on theaddshot's posts on Instagram - addshot on Instagram: βLEGO Ideas Jazz Quartet 21334 Somerwhat more colourful than the original in the musicians/instruments, but it doesn't feel quite as good. The trumpet is smaller, the poses don't feel quite as 'jazz'. Although they appear to be posable, so maybe that's just personal preference on the standard poses. The base is very different. Not decorative, which is a real shame. And some form of modularity, in that you can separate out the four musicians on their own piece of stage, but it's not uniform. Not sure why you would do that. Will be interested to see full reviews on this. -

I can't see any 2022 parts either. It looks like it's back to where it was when the new version was launched, and before it went down. -

Or, they could be announcing the Forest Hideout GWP... Or a Classic 90 Years of Play box. Hopefully not, but they hyped stuff up last year that spectacularly underwhelmed.- 2,976 replies

Well that was poor timing. It's now back. Hurrah!
-
Whilst we all hope this is true, I wouldn't really on Bricks & Pieces of it's a limited run GWP. However, if the posts are also in the castle, then it should be fine. Should B&P ever come back...
-
For these general GWP you see a lot of them just sitting for sale at around $30. Maybe even as low as $25. It might be more in this case because of the prints, but there should be plenty around.
