Latest news about Lego animal moulds
RichardGoring replied to Roebuck's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Is the tan Labrador / Golden Retriever (6329603) the closest dog to Einstein from Back to the Future movies? Or should I be looking at something else? I feel the need to get one to accompany Doc and Marty. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=195601- 5,927 replies

Latest news about Lego animal moulds
RichardGoring replied to Roebuck's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think the three month thing has been denied by LEGO. It was a CS rep who told someone, but LEGO have since said that they are still reviewing what to do. I thought it was New Elementary that had been in touch with them about it, but I can't find it now.- 5,927 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
RichardGoring replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I've not built my version yet, but I thought that Castle in the Forest didn't have any of these hats? The original design included them, and then the grey version was used, as it was in production. But I recall the designer saying that the part wasn't available to him, so he had to remove it from the final version. Either way, I dithered on whether to get some from Bricks & Pieces, but decided against it as they were pretty expensive for something that didn't add much value (being the wrong colour). So pleased that green ones are in the Succulents set though. Hopefully they appear on Bricks & Pieces, rather than buying a $50 for four hats!- 2,976 replies

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
RichardGoring replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
If they keep the printed animals as accessories, then it's great, given that they often cost over $2 from B&P by themselves. Having printed and dual moulded legs as options is nice too. Hoping it comes to the US soon. -
10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
RichardGoring replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I really like the Medieval Blacksmith set, but you're right, it's far too large compared to all other similar sets, so makes them feel small in comparison. I have pondered whether it's feasible to reduce it to 70-80% of the size so that it's a bit more in proportion with other sets, while still keeping the detail. I agree that if we get something like the ideas you've highlighted, it will be really cool.- 2,976 replies

Nice! Although those parts were all available last year in the US stores' BAM (at least in Boston). It's great that this is coming to everyone through online ordering.- 2,976 replies

Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Either way, it's a credible theory to have. Didn't we spend a load of time, 30 pages back, discussing Hogwarts as a possible D2C and how it could match up with the $470 price tag if you consider the Disney Train, a second station, and inflation. But it doesn't mean it's right. I've given up hoping for specific things though. There is so much good stuff out there, I'm going to be delighted if it's something that appeals to me, and relieved if it's not (but delighted for those that want it). If they do make the D2C Hogwarts Express, then it would be a real shame if they only focused on Platform 9 3/4 rather than giving a fuller build of King's Cross. But at the same time, King's Cross would then be huge. Interested to see how they interpret a major station in a D2C. -

Cool! Is this something new, or unprinted? It's showing as only $0.37, which is pretty cheap compared to other printed pieces. -
Unpopular Opinions about LEGO
RichardGoring replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Friends is probably the best theme that LEGO makes. The sets look great, they are fun and interesting to build, and they are fabulous play sets. City is boring and overpriced in comparison. While I personally prefer Creator Expert, if there was only one then allowed, it should be Friends. -
Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Initial impressions are that they are finding their way nicely with the Hogwarts sets now. Especially Dumbledore's Office. Although I have the 2018-20 sets, I got the Chamber of Secrets as a base for the 2018 Great Hall, and might look to mod DO to fit in with it all. The non-Hogwarts sets generally look great. But they do feel expensive compared to the past few years. The Grimmauld Place mechanism feels particularly impressive given that I've only seen it achieved in large sets. Nicely done. -

Or that there is a split between new and 2018-202 style sets that tips it. However, people had 10 'votes', so there is plenty of room for many castle sections. The Burrow is just a really good set on it's own, whereas the castle sections really come into their own when combined with other sections to create a full castle. So I can see Burrow being ahead against any individual castle section. -

While I hope, and expect, it will be a Creator Expert set, with all the complexities and detail that entails, it would be cool if it were a 2 or 3 in 1 like Barracuda Bay. No reason they could do some official alt builds. That would be very much part of the idea of LEGO, so fitting for the anniversary. Although it would mean the revision to buy two, or three...- 2,976 replies

Ha! We both got ninja'd. There's also LURPs (Small Ugly Rock Pieces). I prefer them over moulded baseplates, as they're much more versatile.- 2,976 replies

Big Ugly Rock Piece. The large, single piece rock type things you sometimes get. Good way of building up a base without needing lots of pieces or support.- 2,976 replies

LEGO IDEAS - Vincent van Gogh: The Starry Night

To be fair, in proper English, if you put gas in a van, it will cough. It's only when you put petrol in it that it will go. But that probably spoils the joke somewhat. -

Lego Ideas 90th Anniversary Fan Vote
RichardGoring replied to Calanon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Stonewars did about as comprehensive of an analysis on this that we're likely to get. It was only on the first round votes and tried to take into account the fact that those voting Bionicle and only wanting Bionicle essentially had a single vote, but those wanting System stuff had three votes. You can't get too granular with the data, but all the different ways of cutting it shows that Bionicle is popular amongst those that voted and will generally land somewhere in the top 3. That does seem very logical.
