  1. Agreed. You could easily see it going either way. On the one hand, it's a long way from release to reveal something. On the other, it's a non-licensed theme, celebrating 90 years of LEGO, which they'll cover at LEGO Con, and they've also said that they plan on doing more reveals than last year (although that won't be hard).
  2. Why would they do that now? Release the standard car, and have everyone buy it. Then release a special edition in a different colour in 6-12 months, so that people buy a second copy.
  3. They look great, thanks for sharing! Welcome to the forum.
  4. I really enjoyed both of your reviews, thank you. I'm torn, because as you point out, it's only improvement on any of the past models might be the looks, but actually, I prefer the Sian. However, it will look nice in a collection with the others, and I look forward to the alt builds that some of the genius members of the community come up with.
  5. I think it will be somewhere between the 15th and 28th, but I'm not saying which month...
  6. Check out the trains group and their thoughts on metal axles. Or pirates and rope pieces. Or maybe we can all unite in how frustrating the use of rubber bands can be? Especially when they fail...
  7. Yup, I'm in that group. Had some Technic sets as a kid, but that was it. Focused entirely on System stuff, and then the draw of the 1:8 supercars (and Raching Brick's videos) made me try it, and now I've got the Bugatti, Sian, and will get the Ferrari. Plus, I've got a few other Technic sets and considering more in the future. So it worked with me.
  8. I wonder what proportion of parts orders have been from Pick A Brick/Bestseller vs Bricks & Pieces/standard. Given the relative limitations of the old Pick a Brick, combined with a relatively high cost per piece compared to buying a set (especially Classic), getting from Bricklink, or just marketplace/eBay/Craigslist bulk lots, it must be that Bricks & Pieces was much higher volume, otherwise the service wouldn't work for the MOCs that most people use it to create. And given that they've just revamped the entire system and put a chunk of time and money into doing so, I can't imagine that it's going to go anywhere. Just pondering today after seeing more comments about whether it's been discontinued. I can't see it happening.
  9. That's currently in stock at my local store, along with webs.
  10. Just remember that GWPs are not shipped separately, they are always with a paid item. So if you choose something that it pre-ordered or backordered, then the GWP likely won't be in stock by the time the item ships. So also choose something, anything, from the regular sets (not PAB/B&P) to get them to ship that with the GWP, while you wait for the rest of the order.
  11. Never seen horses though. But I've heard tales of them being in the PAB wall. Would love to see that one day.
  12. And yet they've had chickens at the BAM station. I've got about 15 chickens just from that. And at BAM it's essentially 67c each. They'll still easily make a profit on them at that price.
  13. Although animals may cost a bit more to produce with a complex mould and printing, the other factor to consider is perceived value, and animals are a draw to a set that will encourage people to buy it. So they're a useful sales tool and help people to justify the price of sets.
  14. Forestmen have the most nostalgia for me in the castle series, so perhaps with that great expectation in mind, the set feels like it lacks something. Maybe I'm wanting a more modern take, but that looks like it could be an original set. And that being the case, it suggests that the castle might be somewhat simpler than I was hoping for. Closer to the 3 in 1 castle than the highly detailed projects on Ideas, for example.
  15. All the items in my order (including the diner) say 'backordered'.
  16. I recycle my cardboard packaging. Did that make me a bad person?
  17. Well, yes. But just curious given that the LEGO store in the previous round sold very quickly, but it's not to the same scale as the regular modulars. Whereas this one is. Yes, true. More expensive, because it's larger, but maybe doesn't have the refined detail/charm of a standard set that packs in a lot in a smaller package.
  18. I wonder why the modular construction site is the last one to sell out. I expected that to be at the top of the list because modulars. Curious.
  19. Can't quite believe how quickly they've sold out. This was even faster than the other rounds. Maybe the round 1 sets getting out made more people aware of the program.
  20. Oh wow, that new competition is incredible. An update of the Bricklink Designer Program of sorts. I wonder why they brought these back now, given that they were only very recently rejected. So torn between them, as they're great. The fact that it will be a LEGO designed set, rather than fan designed set, makes me think about the impact LEGO will have on them. I like the idea of a brighter viking village, but also like the idea of a reliably working mini golf set.
  21. 20 minutes to get five funded. Impressive. So sad for some of those that didn't make it, as I really appreciate the ideas. Something of a shame that they weren't put through the LEGO QC process to simplify where appropriate and maybe keep the costs down. I hope that they continue this in the future with other rejected Ideas submissions.
  22. Isn't that from a LEGO Masters build?
  23. I'd love something forest men related. Ideally a hideout. 6066 Camouflaged Outpost was one of my favourite as a kid (and I still have it, along with 6270 Forbidden Island, so Barracuda Bay was a perfect tribute set to that, for me).
  24. The description makes this feel too large for the piece count and price. I expected a drop coaster as it allows you to get the cars high up with an efficient use of pieces and space. But if it's 92cm high and 85cm wide, that's possibly a similar footprint to 10261, with double the height, yet fewer pieces and lower price. Although thinking about it, you probably can't get it much narrower than the original if you want 360 of turns and a loop. Curious how they'll achieve it in the parts and budget and what will be lost. Maybe a more modern design with a simpler frame?
