  1. Not convinced by the seven year repeating pattern of larger modulars. I suspect Assembly Square has sold really well and they want a flagship set that entices people to buy more. As a result, I'd be surprised (but probably pleased) if the new set was a single building, as that doesn't feel as welcoming or enticing as a collection of multiple buildings. Also, from a product perspective, they are doing large single buildings in the Architecture line, which may attract a different casual/adult audience.
  2. I'd like to see the other side of it, in the hope that there's something clever there. But it doesn't look much like a wrecked ship to me. It would be a better concept that a tiny tower though.
  3. BrickClicker has a new video with a Friends fawn in transparent sparkle pink! Probably for Dreamzzz?
  4. Oh, yes, that picture isn't terribly inspiring. What a shame.
  5. That sounds exciting! I wonder if they'll limit it to Eldorado Fortress, or make it general release?
  6. Just don't! You know they'll do it!
  7. I almost feel like Ninjago would be a waste of a CMF series, especially if they limited it to 12 figures. The Ninjago City sets have so many figures in them, that feels like a far better way to get a broad range of good characters.
  8. I started building Grand Emporium, that I found in a bulk lot a while ago, and it really does bring home how simple the earlier modulars were compared to now. I'm only half-way through the ground floor, but already the build experience feels basic in comparison. I did enjoy the guy with his pants down, trying on new clothes, which is a cheeky side of LEGO (pun intended), but you can certainly feel how LEGO has used modern techniques and ideas to make the build experience more fulfilling in later sets. I also suspect that being a single-use building (and a corner one at that) doesn't help with the sense of simplicity, and that may be another reason they prefer to go for multiple buildings per modular now.
  9. There are instructions for most of the modulars on Rebrickable in an apocalypse form - LEGO apocalypse MOCs with Building Instructions | Rebrickable - Build with LEGO I think they look pretty cool. For example:
  10. I was sorting through my backlog the other day and realized that I only have one copy of the Police Station. I normally get a second for MOCs so something has slipped up there. I'm going to risk waiting a bit until a GWP at least. And ideally a decent cashback site offer with it. Will the gamble pay off? Who knows, but I'm willing to risk it.
  11. Exciting possibilities for something so large. Shame it's so expensive, but probably to be expected if they're going this large.
  12. I think raw pigeon would be OK. Cooked pigeon would be different, but at least it replaces the ubiquitous (and oversized) turkey!
  13. I recently got the Grand Emporium in a bulk lot. I'm not a huge fan of the earlier modulars for a variety of reasons (too clunky, out of scale, basic interior, just a bit bland compared to the more modern ones). Having said that, I wouldn't say no to any of them, but equally, wouldn't pay a lot for the older ones, unlike many others who seem to go crazy for them. I can see that you'd get an emotional attachment to them too, and that makes them even better.
  14. The logs are neatly done. It looks terrific. Still looks like some parts of it will be only four or five studs deep, which is very shallow, but other areas will have more depth. The skating pond is nice and I like the little jetty.
  15. And animals in the forbidden forest set too.
  16. Yup. Duck, pigeon, fox, and crow are all higher on my list than the goat. Along with a modern take on a crab and parrot with printed eyes to match the lobster and other birds. Oh, and fish. I wonder if they'd ever consider redoing the frog. Probably too iconic to change at this point. And too useful for other things.
  17. Oh, I agree. The teasing is fun. And there are so many more animals I wish they'd do before a goat.
  18. Looks great and really accurate! Not sure you needed to go to the trouble of making it 1:1 scale though!
  19. What a wonderful scene. The boomerang fence and minifig hand mail box marker are delightful examples of NPU. Lovely stuff!
  20. Now, what's the betting that they reuse the CMFs in this set, meaning I don't have to go through the pain (or Bricklink relative expense) of getting the X-men and just wait for the set?
  21. Did anyone watch the Ninjago City Markets designer video? He specifically calls out being asked to bring back the 'iconic LEGO goat', so they've done the wanted poster for it, and then he says 'I hope you can find him one day'. It's clearly a tease that it's coming.
  22. That's fun! Glad you speed limited it, to avoid crashing into a store! I hope they accept your record claim.
  23. Stoneware.de and Promobricks regularly publish lists of sets that are to be retired, and there is a list on the Legoleak subreddit, but these can, and do, change, so it's never 100%.
  24. Would love to see it. I agree that the Bookshop exterior is lovely, and it's the best modular tree (there need to be more of them), but the lack of books is such a shame. It should be stacked full of them for me to consider it a top modular. I also like the townhouse, and, one day, would love to colour swap a few of them to have a row of San Francisco/Bristol houses. But as a standalone I find it hard to place it with the other business-focused modulars. I can see, and appreciate your love for it. The story elevates it further.
  25. Could it also be for packing stability? Many of these larger sets are not nearly full, and so you could end up with all the parts on one side, destabilizing the box and being susceptible to box collapse when stacked or shipped?
