LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I suspect that the cost to LEGO of parting out packed sets is significantly higher than the cost to manufacture new things from scratch. -
VIKING VILLAGE Ideas set via Target vote
RichardGoring replied to jtooker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Initial impressions are that it looks really good. I like the layout and flow. The modular aspect is a bit confusing, as it doesn't look like you can rearrange it? Also not sure where 2000 pieces go into this, as it doesn't look that large, but the $130 price point seems good. Excited to see more detailed reviews and getting it. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Well, havoc has already been caused. Iron Man is also peeking through the top floor window of the Police Station, so he and Bond may be able to stop things before it gets even further out of hand. -

I'd write to them and suggest it. They probably haven't thought about it, but will jump at the chance! -
VIKING VILLAGE Ideas set via Target vote
RichardGoring replied to jtooker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Seems really odd for Target to do a reveal like that and then only start to sell it a month later, having lost most of the hype they've generated. I rarely buy sets on day 1, so I don't particularly care. Just seems like an odd decision for a generalist like Target that is trying to reach a mass audience. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

One of my local LEGO stores (Boston South Shore Plaza) has a display cabinet for the modulars, but they modify the scene around them. Went in last night and was tickled by what they have done: -
[ENTRY] 6274 Caribbean Clipper Remake - DISQUALIFIED
RichardGoring replied to Alexu's topic in Pirate MOCs
Love it! It's one of my favorite childhood sets, and my kids loved it too when I introduced them to it. This is a superb modernization. Not sure about technical boat stuff, but it looks like a fun model. -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

I wonder if they're taking apart sets to reuse the pieces, given how poorly it appears to have sold... -
1. Boutique Hotel 2. Downtown Diner 3. Brick Bank But it's hard not to include Parisian Restaurant and Detectives Office. Solid top 5 for all of them.

Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Don't underestimate the ability to keep a set going for as long as it sells, and then remake it shortly after it retires, so there is a new version to get. But there are some good suggestions through this thread. -
Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think it's because LEGO categorizes Rivendell as an Icons set, which is what they would do with future similar sets. But that do have LOTR as a category on the website, along with the Brick Headz. Ultimately, they make up their own rules and can bring it back instantly if they want. -
Brick Clicker has a video up with photos of three BAM Hallowe'en figures. 1. Woman in a black cat suit with the rounded ear head piece and some orange and yellow decorations on the torso. 2. Pumpkin person with green legs and torso. The torso also has a pumpkin face printed on it. 3. Tree costume with a wood print effect torso. They look nice enough as party costumes, but don't scream Hallowe'en to me. Accessories are nothing new - saxophone, lantern, lime watering can.

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
Ooh yes, it looks lovely. Nice shape and variety of depths. Winter village scenery is always nice to have too. The ground floor looks like it might be very shallow though, but otherwise, pleasing. -
Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think, to be fair, it was a leak of such epic proportions, that not even the spam/jokster 'leakers' would have the gall to try it. But once again, thanks to @JeanGreyForever for sharing and forgiving us for not believing it. -
Would they leave the neck on the torso, or do a special mould without it?

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I often feel that 95% of Brick Fanatics articles are speculation or opinion based on very little. They are very good at writing click bait and churning out loads for Google to scan through and push as news. I'm sure they're very nice people, but the site comes across as spammy and a waste of time. -
Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The survey showed and image and then accompanying text with a description and price range. It's also worth noting that some of the price ranges were quite wide, suggesting room for changing things quite a lot. And some of the models shown were clearly not reflective of the intended price range. So I think it's all very early prototype stuff with things still to be finalized - whether the model, the figures, the price, or anything else they may do. -
Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
RichardGoring replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'd take it more as recreating a set from the vault. Didn't 10320 Eldorado Fortress have vault associated with it at some point? -

A jewellers or watchmaker might make a nice little business in a modular though. -
LEGO Ideas 21342 Insect Collection
RichardGoring replied to BrickMonkeyMOCs's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Good point about the sturdiness. Certainly adds a lot to that and the model construction method options. True about the scale arguments, but they probably feel about right to a lot of people? -

The stands really help to show them off, and I think they look great. Shame that they didn't keep the bee and ladybird, but I still like the set. -

Oh, so that's good to know. The things you'd want in bulk, you can get. Nice. -

Oh wow, that's ludicrous. I'm sure I've seen people get bags full of stuff. What a shame.
