LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

Yes, that's a promising development. But also a 'put it all on red' kind of development... -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I also feel it lacks the wow factor, but mostly that's from the image on the back of the box with the other modulars. It looks better on it's own to me, but a bit small next to other buildings. I wonder it an 8-16-wide park area on either side would help it stand out more - and be typical of a real-world setup too. The pictures suggest there's a decent amount, but not long to wait until better images become available. I also hope it's packed full of stuff. I see your point, but I also think they could do some really fun stuff in the sorting area of a post office. Perhaps with functions similar to Brick Bank where things can go through chutes. Or conveyor belt. Or tipping things out into a mail van. You could potentially have interesting things up front too, with cards, supplies, passport photos. But I suspect the idea of a grand civic post office may not happen for a while now, as it would clash too much with the natural history museum. So if it were to happen, it would be a smaller thing - just the first floor, and possibly only a 16-wide footprint. Would still be fun though. -

That's certainly an exciting prospect! Or dark tan. Or a mix of both to make it a cool brick structure that's also nicely vibrant. Seeing the heck out the box, it really does feel a bit small, despite being 32x48. I like it, but it feels like each floor needs an extra brick or two in height. Or maybe a third floor on the roof with dorma windows, so it's a bit more imposing on the street. Of course, it then becomes $400, so... -

My initial thought was also that it may point towards a purple spaceman in an upcoming set. But then I figured it could very easily be either a small batch run (possibly using the custom printing machines), or even just leftover parts from the CMF. -

And time for them to change them too. Maybe. Just. -

And I'll add a third oooooooh! -
My thoughts too. The functions are amazing, but it does feel like the exterior is a bit lacking as a result, and looks a but too... messy? It feels like the clean lines have gone. I wonder if some printing on the front screen might have helped give it a bit more definition too, so you can more clearly see the shaping at the front, rather than a large mass of trans black all together. Delighted that they included the Baron though. I don't normally get drawn by figures, but it's very tempting, just for him! Overall, thrilled that they made it, and it's brilliantly clever. Not sure I will get it though.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
RichardGoring replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I went into the LEGO Store in Las Vegas today, about five minutes after it opened. There were already quite a few people in there, with a couple pouring over the Pick a Brick wall. Turns out that a load of masonry bricks had been stocked in the night before and someone was getting LOADS of them to then send out to friends all over the country. I was thrilled to find some grey ones, so got two cups for a canal I'm planning. And, in the sweetest experience, two small pieces that I'm missing for a MOC that I forgot to add to my recent Bricks and Pieces order. Which should hopefully be arriving soon. It's all coming together to be a great Pick a Brick October! -
VIKING VILLAGE Ideas set via Target vote

They stop accepting orders, but orders that come in before the shutdown should be fulfilled. -
I wanted to vote pirates, but had to vote for bluecoats, as the two are vital together, and I suspected that they needed more support!

It's surely going to be a lot smaller than that AI image. And likely a lot simpler in areas like the dome. It looks good though. -
I wonder if they'll do alternate building instructions to rework the interiors into a different formation, if you buy multiple sets.

That's a fair comment and I'd certainly prefer more civilian figures, but I can equally see them wanting to clearly tie sets together, and also make something complete if you only buy one set. So having a knight to be kitted out by the armourer is a good play scenario. -

I thought the same thing. It's such a classic. But recreating that texture in a retail set may have been too difficult. Looking forward to seeing what they do. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

Oh wow, my standard order from October 10 has arrived this afternoon. 14 days. That's incredible! Nope. Got it wrong. It was the Walmart LEGO Masters trophy promo. Ha ha! Still nice LEGO to get. -
If Santa is in dark red that might be interesting too, but I suspect it was poor lighting rather than dark red. The new blue dress/torso look nice, but given the last year's selection, there's not very much to add to those two elements that I'd want to get.

Brick-built horse, but with a new fully moulded stall element. Stacking the Majisto GWP with another GWP is great on the one hand, but does it potentially mean a smaller budget for it on the other?

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Agreed. In my mind, there's the more civic collection - town hall, police station, fire brigade, brick bank, grand emporium - and then the more business-focused elements that blend into a seedier downtown vibe - palace cinema, jazz club, detective's office, petshop, downtown diner. Parisian Restaurant is a bit more standalone, but I put it with the civic grouping. One day, when they're all built, I'll have the proper groupings with them all next to each other and opposite the correct ones for colour, shape, and height balance. One day... To me it should be counted as a minifigure if it's a playable character, and not just a decoration. The statues in Rivendell are clearly decoration, so I'm with LEGO on this, not Brickset. Not that it matters much. I hope it's not two per year. There are already enough other cool things. And inevitably the modulars have amazing Rebrickable designs, making it extremely tempting to get two of each. So four per year would be a lot! -
How many LEGO designers are reading this and enjoying the speculation resulting from the teasing? Declare yourselves!

Certainly sounds promising. Potential clash with the Parisian Restaurant colour scheme, but the Fire Brigade and Jazz Club seen fine, so hopefully it's all good. I hope that the blossom tree isn't too anemic. -

I'm showing my age that I just about know Knuckles, and have no idea about the other two. I'm firmly in the Sonic 1 and 2 camps. They look good though. -

Ooh, that's good to hear. I made orders on the 10th, so sounds like they may ship soon too. -

I called and they were super helpful, as usual. None of them left, but they offered me a mystic witch. Then realized I was in the US, where it's not available, so suggested I call next week when they have the next batch of GWPs available. Let's see. I might get something good! Always worth a call, even if it's just to feel better because they're so nice. -

The order confirmed the GWP, and it says that the GWP has shipped, but there's only one tracking number for it, so I think it's MIA. Clearly not the end of the world, just wanted to do a little vent to help me feel better about it.
