  1. So that's how you make those white walls. I don't have any in white but I have a ton in black and my motorcycles won't mind donating their tires haha. That should fix the height issue. It's a shame TLG doesn't make a wheel for those tires that allows for an axle. And thanks for the comments everyone.
  2. The wheels that come with it are too small and I don't have any others that look right on it. TLG needs to make slightly smaller wheels than these for these axles. Cadillac's V16 is similarly massive.
  3. Please excuse the crappy light box. I'm going to have to make a better setup but this will do for now.
  4. Thank you EROL, I'll have to head over to Flickr to check them out. Its a good design you just have to put some work into it. And I agree about ditching the wheel arches, I was thinking of doing that because the wheels still just don't look right. It really needs some white wall tires.
  5. I like 8 wide Doc, especially your creations. They just don't fit in a town. But it's ok, I feel your pain. My 4 wides get overshadowed by all the excellent 5 and 6 wides here. Like my little pride and joy Python here. And the wheel arches wouldn't be so bsd LT if they hadn't stuck this with such dinky little wheels.
  6. So we all know the car that comes with PC is rubbish as it stands. IMO the only positive aspects of the design are the hood and trunk, the rest being oddly proportioned. So being the car nut that I am, my first thought upon seeing it was to modify it to look like an actual car and not a giant skateboard. If I'm not mistaken, I'm the first to post a modded version of it here. I added larger doors, added height to the rear fenders, and swapped out those awful bumpers. Original Mod And finally here it is with my lightly modified fire truck from Fire Brigade.
  7. They're all a blast to build. Occasionally they can be repetitive but they're satisfying in the end. I started with PE then got GE, FB, TH, and PC in that order. My girlfriend and I build them together and always look forward to the next set. I would recommend getting the next oldest one that is currently on sale, so if you can still get FB I would go for that.
  8. Great looking town. I like the mix of classic town and modern modular, I plan on doing something similar.
  9. Great vehicles. I love the two 4x4s. Here is my own mod of 7206
  10. And thanks for the comments guys. Timmy, I'm glad you like it. I'm even amazed sometimes when I look at that first picture of just the Pet Shop and my original Bolt. I know it doesn't stack up to many town layouts out there with their custom buildings and whatnot, but I'm glad people still enjoy mine even if it's mostly an arrangement of official sets. Eventually I'll add more custom buildings as I get more comfortable building my own modulars.
  11. PC is awesome in person, absolutely up to the standards of the rest of the line. My girlfriend got it for my birthday on Friday and we had fun building it together. This summer I hope to move the layout to a new table because I've already run out of room on this one. This is how it is now with my table on the right and my little brother's on the left(with my lighthouse, creator house and train) And pardon the mess here, it's all my brother's and sister's toys, but hopefully this summer we'll clear out the space and I'll put a table there for my town. I'm thinking it would be about 4 32x32 baseplates wide and go the length of the wall. And this is a very very rough sketch of what I'm planning. I think the actual layout would be longer than this but this is what would fit on my phone(Samsung Galaxy Note 2 if you're wondering. It's freaking awesome!) I would have it transition from the city on the left to suburbs and the country/beach as you go right.
  12. Thanks for the comments everyone! LT, that building is going to be a fish mart. The idea to make it modular popped into my head as I was contemplating rebuilding the blue house from that set. I realized it was 16 wide and what with everyone modernizing classic town sets I figured I would give it a go. As for Bolt, yes I rebuilt it again, I'm glad you all like it. I'm never satisfied with it, but for now I like it. I think I'm more happy that it inspires my brother to build. He's building his own Bolt dealership now and he's reverse engineered my Bolt Python sports car and Stallion coupe. I have this all set up in the basement of my parents house, and this year I hope to help my mom clean out some of my siblings old toys so I can have a table running the length of one of the walls just for my town.
  13. "It's gonna take a lot to take me away from you, There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do. I bless the rains down in Africa, Gonna take some time to do the things we never have" :p But seriously, I could see a Safari theme working. Would it be all that different from the Outback sets of my youth? Heck, they didn't even have any animals for that theme, aside from the alligator. A Safari theme would be a great opportunity to introduce new animal molds.
  14. Very nice MOC LT, I actually work at a Dodge dealership so this one hits home for me. We have that exact same "5 star, Dodge, Dodge trucks" sign, which is actually outdated now that Dodge trucks are sold under the Ram brand.
  15. An update to Bolt, along with a new logo sign. And a peek at a new MOC
  16. This looks great! I'm glad to finally see another one of these with a 6-wide cab.
  17. I love the classic look of your fire vehicles, the use of the round tiles is a good touch too.
  18. I love this! I've always wanted a real Wagoneer, and this model is spot on. I would be much more inclined to buy this than the VW van.
  19. Very cool rendering. I'm always amazed at how real these look. I'm not usually interested in Friends sets, but this looks perfect for the town setting with the mini figs instead of the minidolls. It could pass for a new Paradisa set.
  20. My little brother wanted me to connect our towns and I finally found a way to incorporate my train and the train station I got for Christmas but hadnt bothered opening until tonight. This is his city so far, Alpha Town. He works on his more than I work on mine, I think.
  21. As always, great vehicles. I especially love the Seven and Cobalt, as I've been wanting to build a similar style of sports car. I recently rebuilt and modified Baron Von Baron's 5920 Island Racer and it got me in the mood for more vintage iron...err, plastic, to populate my town. The way you used the light clip bricks is something I wouldn't have thought of but exactly what I've needed. I'm really getting a kick out of seeing all these new takes on classic sets, bet is Town, Space, etc.. This Cowgirl Cruiser is a great update of the original. That Royal Ride is fantastic too, I love the grille shape. Very Cadillac circa 1985. On a side note, when will TLG give us a better 6 wide windshield? This one never looked right to me. Perhaps it just reminds me of Luke's Landspeeder. The Super Square may not be handsome but I like it a lot. The hidden headlights is a technique I love, I actually just introduced my little brother to it on his 4433 Dirt Bike Transporter. I love the shape of the rear, it reminds me of a car my friend built when we were younger that we called the Twinkie Car. It may have looked like a Twinkie on wheels, but it was solid enough to be a very effective battering ram. Speaking of when I was younger, that's when I did a lot of brick modifying as I never had any concern then for purity in my creations. Now I care a bit more, but when I have pieces to spare I like to tinker.
  22. Thank you LT, I prefer the look of these to what TLG is producing these days. Could a moderator please index these?
  23. Considering the doors on the official "limo" are for a classic 4-wide scale car and look totally out of place on it, i wouldn't worry about the lack of doors on this. It looks fantastic BTW, a lot like the Christine Plymouth.
  24. Here's a look at the construction of the Python. The Python coupe and new Python roadster The first generation of Bolt Python The updated Seagrave and I updated this as well Here is the tan car from 4850 This is a small sports car I made to match it's driver The Octan COEs A small, green British convertible This was a taxi polybag we picked up at the New York City Toys R Us. My brother and I modded them to fit a minifig At my little brother's request, his MOD of the Smart car And finally the Bolt Stinger, featuring a "custom" chassis. Some may call it cheating or blasphemy but I have a bunch of these chassis and this one was damaged already, so I hacked 2 studs off the length as you will see Here you'll see the modification to the chassis, I wanted to create another size of the chassis without that front overhang, like the 10-long one of the Python/Interceptor and the 7-long one of the Smart/Stallion. and here I wanted to illustrate what I call modular automotive construction.
