  1. I love the mini X-wings, instantly recognizable, with a lovely usage of skis.
  2. I put the Slave 1 at the top of my birthday list because of the comments in this thread. I'd been on the fence for a while, but I don't want to miss out on what is clearly destined to be a classic like the UCS Falcon.
  3. This looks spot on to the game, great job! If only the game were as good as this MOC.
  4. Unless it's something I NEED to have, I'll usually wait for a better price. Case in point, I don't like to buy battle packs at full price and I'd wanted the Rebels Stormtrooper pack but at around $15 I would never be able to get enough to make it worth it so I always passed on them. Then one day I was at Stop and Shop, I decided to finally grab that pack and the Shadow Troopers, but when I rang them up the Stormtrooper pack came up as $3.99. I cleared out that store and two others, and now I have 16 stormies for about the price of 4. If a store has toys, I'll hunt there and check back often. My girlfriend likes shopping, so it usually works out in both our favors. And I don't pay attention to piece count, if I want something and it wins the battle between what I want and what my wallet says I can have, then I get it. The high piece count of Hoth isn't impressive to me, it's mostly white cheese wedges padding the stats. The Ewok Village gives you a more desireable assortment of pieces despite offering less of them.
  5. Bookmarked too. This looks really good so far, I can't wait to see the finished product. I've been itching to mod mine, not to UCS scale but more close to the half-minifig scale of the other MOC Ghost, and any inspiration is great.
  6. Because they barely did anything new. They essentially just modded older sets. And as to the other topic brewing, we're allowed to express our opinions, no one has disparaged anyone who wants the set, it seems the rude comments are only going the other way, as I'd were not allowed to criticize a set supposedly indented for adult collectors. All criticisms have been valid, I'd say, but no one is saying "don't buy this set and you're an idiot if you do." I would absolutely want this at a different price point, but at $250 it's money that could be better spent on other sets I've wanted.
  7. My friend had it back in the day. We got alot of play value out of it and Greedo was constantly getting killed.
  8. 1) 7754 Home One Mon Calamari Cruiser - haven't seen this one mentioned yet, but it was one of my few Dark Ages sets and I've always loved it. We've never had another Home One set, the figs are fantastic, and the green A-wing is among my favorites in my fleet. 2) 9516 Jabba's Palace + 75005 Rancor Pit + 9496 Desert Skiff - these have to be bunched together, and though I don't have the sail barge, these three still look awesome together. The fig selection is excellent, with many you wouldn't get otherwise. 3) 66512 Ghost and Phantom - I bought them seperate, but that set number is an easy pairing of the two. Too small, but The gjost has quickly become one of my favorite ships in the franchise as has its crew, and I often find myself gazing up to it on the shelf above my TV as I watch Rebels.
  9. Exactly, I would have expected Leia and Chewie in addition to what we got, not at the expense of it. Personally, I would only sub out some Rebels for more Snowtroopers.
  10. I love that Mining Guild TIE! I think the wings might even look better than a standard TIE/ln. People may hate on Rebels, but the ships have been fantastic.
  11. Perhaps the May the Fourth polybag will ne Hoth Leia, but if not her absence is puzzling. You'd assume we won't be getting many more Hoth sets for a while, this would have been the percent opportunity to update her.
  12. The new Ten has two sides to his head, one without the breather and one with. It still doesn't look as much as a Sullustan as I'd like, though he is a nice fig. I was going to suggest a new Home One. I'd love a companion to mine, though Mon Mothma still looks good. Lando could use a new hair piece though.
  13. If the rumor of a UCS Death Star holds true, I'd love to finally get Admiral Motti, naturally with a double print on the head for his force choking. We already have Yularen and Tarkin from the scene. I'd also like to have a proper Sullustan headpiece and Nien Nunb to wear it. I'm not sure what ROTJ set they could squeeze him into though.
  14. This is the B-Wing prototype seen in the show, called the Blade Wing. Incidentally, Blade Squadron flew B-wings and destroyed the ISD Devastator at the Battle of Endor. These MOCs look fantastic, especially the Blade Wing. I'm hoping we eventually get it in a set, though it's doubtful it would look as good as this one. Great work!
  15. What's wrong with the Rebels Stormtroopers? I quite like them, they have leg printing and their helmets make them look taller than normal OT stormies.
  16. That's true, but it's more so that it's stuff we've basically all built already. How long has this basic snowspeeder design been out with only minor detail changes over the years? Yet TLG thinks it "will challenge even the most skilled fan builders"? It just all seems very basic and repetitive for a UCS set, especially a $250 one. For me, the issues with it lie in branding and price. At $150 as a Special Edition I'd probably get one, but as a $250 UCS it's underwhelming. At the very least, they could have added R-3PO, Bacta Luke, Hoth Leia, and and AT-ST with another few Snowtroopers to make the figs side of it more appealing. Wedge and Toryn Farr are the highlights, and that's really not enough for a UCS.
  17. I'm almost glad to see the almost universal disapointment in this set. At $150 I wold more seriously consider this set, but $250 is kinda outrageous considering that the majority of the builds in it we've quite literally already done. How challenging do they think it is to build the same Snowspeeder for the 5th time? Hopefully we speak with our wallets and they get the message that this is unacceptable for something carrying the UCS label. This is more akin to the other big Hoth sets and should have been a Special Edition, or had it been a "Super Battle Pack" it could have elevated that series and been the start of a line of battle playsets. In fairness to this set, it isn't terrible if you ignore the price and branding, and it is a good way for those who missed previous sets to catch up, so to speak. On the subject of the Ewok Village, I never liked it before but this set made me appreciate it more than I used to. It's still not a set I'll buy(because Ewoks...)but it's something we'd never had in an official set, and perfectly combines play with display. Hoth clearly leans more towards play, which would be fine with different branding at a different price point. I feel bad for those of you who collect every UCS, this is almost cynical of Lego.
  18. This is little more than a rehash of previous Hoth sets. If you have 7879, 7666, and 7749 then you basically have this set already. If you missed out on those, I could see it being with $250, but I don't think I'll be able to justify the price of this one for my own collection. None of it is really new except the ion cannon and shield generator.
  19. I'd like to eventually rebuild mine with the cockpit from 75082, the new pieces would help to give it more of a rounded look.
  20. I'm halfway through Death Star and I find myself getting lost on wookiepedia as I search various aliens and characters that I come across in the book.
  21. It would likely look too bulky with the inverted tile, your solution is more elegant even if the color doesn't match.
  22. I love the way this looks. It definitely captures the feel of the early sets while making good use of new pieces. I think I may have to try my hand at a few ships like this.
  23. The TIE Defender was also made cannon fro the Star Wars Commander game.
  24. This looks great, very reminiscent of the EU TIE Predator. I'd love to see it in combat against Tyutyu's E-Wing.
  25. I saw this on our Facebook group yesterday but I was outside and couldn't make out the picture. Now that I can see it, it looks great.
