  1. Ah righr,ni forgot about that one! It's actually on my Christmas list too haha. As darththeling said, maybe it's for hydration, but I don't remember that ever being a thing in the movies, I'll have to pay attention when I watch ROTJ this week. Either way. It's great to see he's in the new film.
  2. Lol, Admiral Ackbar with cup drinking action. I don't recall him having a drinking problem in the movies, but he had the same cup in the Mon Calamari Cruiser set. I had the same thought. The trooper falling is what caught my eye initially.
  3. In one sentence you say we need more aliens but in another you express your disapointment in the BF battle packs. The Rebel Alliance one has two in it, and how are they not a commitment to OT fans? That entire game is a disapointment for the fact that it's only the OT (among many, many other reasons). As for the Bespin set, I'd imagine it's more akin to the Rancor Pit than Jabba's Palace. I'm sure we'll see another set along the lines of the Palace, which you'd combine to make a "complete" Cloud City. And speaking of the Final Duel, you mention it's quality, but what is so special about it? The set design is pretty bland and the figures are nothing really new. Ive had all of them in one form or another for quite some time. For the price, I'd expect more than just a door, some windows, a staircase, and figures we've already had.
  4. I'd mail them a check in advance for a Pheonix Squadron A-wing with Ashoka in the set. Same with the red B-wing, I badly want both.
  5. Yeah, I was digging through my brother's bins while looking for parts to build A-Wings and I came across all these dark green pieces he clearly couldn't find a use for. I had the engines for my 7150 Y-Wing just waiting for me to rebuild the ship between them, so I decided to just do a green/yellow one based on the Gold Leader instructions. I think it's coming along nicely given that I'm spending more time looking for parts than I am building. Ooo, I typed that all up and then realized you said A-wing. I have the one from the Mon Calamari Cruiser set, though I built a blue/white A-wing based on that set, inspired by Phoenix Squadron. I'm thinking about building a yellow one next.
  6. It seems like the Rebels stuff gets ignored, but that Kanan's speeder bike looks like a great way to pick him up for cheap along with some dark green parts and a plain stormtrooper that everyone seems to want. That micro Ghost looks fantastic and, as with the speeder bike, is a great way to pick up a major character for cheap. I'll gladly add Hera to my collection, though I'd much rather see her in a set with the B-wing prototype and Quarrie and maybe old Rex thrown in with it.
  7. This is great! There seems to be a lot of hate for Rebels, but I honestly enjoy watching the show despite it being obviously aimed at a younger audience. Like it or not(I do), it's cannon now and it's important.
  8. Nice rendition of the new old A-wing. It's great to see these in rebels, I'm hoping we get one as a set, or at least the B-Wing prototype. I'd throw my money at TLG for either.
  9. I'm in the process of my own green variant. Yours is certainly more accurate, I had to take some liberties with the design due to my parts selection. Dark green looks fantastic on these, and the green squadron A-Wing needs some company.
  10. This looks great so far. I actually just built my own A-Wing in the same color scheme, though mine is essentially a recolor of the green squadron A-Wing from the Home One set. I love how these look when done right like this though, the curve of the side looks great and your solution for the ring on the rear is pretty accurate. The rear of the ship is very nicely done, TLG has never done that part accurately but you nailed it.
  11. The Mustang's headlights look awful. They're essentially on the side of the car, imagine how bad that'll look straight on. That said, it'll be the first I get, because Mustang. Do they make that 1x2 sloped piece in the dark trans? I wonder how that would look in place of the sticker.
  12. Purists may cry foul, but sometimes you have to work around the limitations of the medium in your own way. I think we can all agree that TLG needs a better selection of 6-wide windshields, and what you have created is exactly what I've been looking for. I rarely work in 6-wide, but I'm currently building a 50s style American convertible to accompany the Detective's Office and I had to angle the 2x6x3 windshield to fit the design, and it's less than ideal.
  13. This would seem to lend itself very nicely to expansion. A duplicate second floor would do wonders for it and it doesn't seem hard to push the wall of The Highlander out to add a bar. All in all a nice set with a great feel, which you captured perfectly in your review.
  14. Well I suppose you can all voice your concerns to TLG and not spend your money on this set. I like the set and I don't mine that itsw more fun and less serious. I also like the doll house like nature of these, so I guess that's where my bias comes from. DO to me looks easily expandable and certainly could benefit from it. An additional middle floor or two would be nice, though The Highlander would also look great with a bar inside, and the cookies could easily become moonshine or meth or whatever.
  15. You mean to tell me CC wasn't just a doll house in Lego form? It's telling that Lego rebranded the modulars as Creator Expert rather than as Architecture. Besides, each set has always had it's trade offs. So DO is visually not up to par to you, but PR was absolutely stunning, to the point where it stands out in an average street as much as PC does. I like that DO is more plain, it gives off exactly the vibe that a decetives office above a pool hall should. Have they not always been glorified city sets? They're buildings...in minifigure scale...
  16. The point being that at the debut of the modular line, they could have been considered architecture sets. Now with a dedicated line for people who want display pieces, the modulars can concentrate on being a bit more toy like than in the past.
  17. To be fair, TLG has the Architecture line as well now, so the modulars don't necessarily have to always have super detailed exteriors. It's nice to see this one take itself a little less seriously. There have always been trade offs with each individual set in the series. PR is beautiful inside and out but it's small and not very modular, FB is a classic but only one floor is really furnished, GE is a lovely looking building and easily expanded but the build was boring...they're Lego's, you can always fix what you don't like.
  18. I'll exclude the first 3 as I don't own them, but of the ones I have, here's how I'd rank them. 1) FB - it was either my second or third, but it's the proper firehouse I've always wanted in my town. When I was young, my father was a firefighter so I spent a lot of time and his fire house and that created an attachment to firetrucks and firehouses for me. 2) GE - lovely looking building and a very easily customizable interior. 3) PR - I got this yesterday and I'm still in the process of building it, but the details are fantastic. With every minibuild I find myself almost in awe at the techniques and beauty of the details. 4) TH - along the lines of FB, it's the proper town hall I always wanted. My Lego adventures got very political before I entered my dark ages, so this massive town hall is a great setting for some of those old shady characters. 5) PC - not art deco like I would have preferred, but I still love the look of it, especially the sign. Also the stock car was horrible aside from the design of the hood, but I turned it into something I'm very happy with. 6) PS - the first set I got, but my least favorite through little fault of it's own. It's a very nice set, and I'd love more houses in the theme, but it's still just 2 houses, compared to rest it's boring, to me anyway.
  19. Lovely little house. I love the sun room out back.
  20. Our tame test driver
  21. Well a hat tip to you for giving me the idea lol. And the wheel arches not being symmetrical really bothered me.
  22. Great trucks! I love the use of classic pieces on these, they look like old school Town but in modern 6-wide size.
  23. Well this thread has become very informative! :) Here is yet another version. This one I'm pretty happy with, and of course props to EROL on the tire method. These pics didn't come out as white as the last set, not sure why. I'm still tinkering with how to place the lights outside the box to get the best lighting inside.
  24. Neat little town LT. I have a strange craving for syrup now.
