Well, beggars can't be choosers I suppose, but I would much rather have a non-licensed Western theme. My two biggest complaints about licensed themes are the price and flesh minifigs. I would prefer yellow figs and a lower price, as there are already too many themes competing for my limited money.

This is a great looking car you've built. By the looks, I'm going to guess the Lancia model you had was an 037 http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lancia_037#section_1 though the light blue color could mean it was a Stratos instead. Either way, this is a good looking car. I do mainly 4w cars for my city, but this makes me want to try a non-minifig scale.

Review: 10228 Haunted House
bootz replied to mostlytechnic's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great review, but for $180 I want printed pieces, not stickers. As much as I love Legos, they keep pricing these kinds of sets way out of my price range. I HAVE to collect the modulars now, that doesn't leave much for large sets like this and Star Wars sets. -
Mixing Mega Blocks with Legos?

Up next is finishing the sidewalk. The interior is basically done now, no pics yet though. I'm much happier with the way the front looks now, though I still might have some tweaking to do. I took gotoandlego's advice about the small lettering above the door and fixed the L and T. I also centered the door, I don't know why I didn't in the first place.

I think the use of the brick brick is fine, you do see the seams, but it is somewhat camouflaged by the brick look. The facades look fantastic with the brick brick, and the windows are lovely as well. Nice use of the Diamond Shop and Verrick Street signs from the Spiderman set.

I actually have not seen it, but that is indeed the idea. My girlfriend doesn't like that his office is so open, but I love the way it looks.

Layouts ^ simple but effective ^ a modular house my girlfriend is working on There's never a dull day in Legoredo...

Please excuse the mess, there's been alot of construction in town.

It seems our towns share a name lol.

Thank you! I'm glad I inspired you, I'm looking forward to seeing your own MOC.

Great entry, this is something I desperately need in my town.

I think the 3rd floor will go from the far wall(by the elevator) to the edge of that plate atop the slanted windows. The windows will still be part of the second floor. I also think I'll do a sky light above the elevator, so the 3rd floor won't extend out to the left above it.

I also checked the clearance with Fire Brigade and the other modulars, and it fits with all the ones I have, except Town Hall, but even the Grand Emporium has clearance issues with TH.
-
Lovely building, I absolutely love the jewelry sign. Good luck in the contest.

After I took the pictures and looked at it, I realized the elevator may be an issue. I was planning to put this next to Fire Brigade, so hopefully it clears it, and yes, the mechanism is essentially the same as the Town Hall, just with a few different Technic pieces. I took these pics as I was leaving for work, ill snap some more as I'm working on it tonight. I wad also thinking about doing a third floor, but for office space, rather than as an additional showroom.

There is actually about the same ammount of room in the showroom, and I can fit both the Python and Stallion. There's a lot more room for service and parts now, and a larger waiting area and even a bathroom this time. I want to add a Fire Brigade style American flag too. I'm out of Windows though, and short on a lot of other pieces now, so I would need to make a bricklink order to make a third floor, and my girlfriend and I have been very confused by bricklink haha. We tried to order 2x2 dark bluish gray tiles for the sidewalk but we couldn't figure it out.

Update: got tired of the way it was, so I took a few ideas from gotoAndLego's Urban Moto motorcycle shop and my girlfriend and I got to rebuilding. I got the bulk of the work done, so I figured I would share now and get some input. Anyone have any ideas on how to improve on this? The bottom floor will be for the service and parts departments, and the second floor will be the showroom, with an elevator going up to the second floor and also doubling as the lift for the shop.

Wow, I would have never thouht to do it like that. Very clever and it looks great, plus the lock on it(and on the fire escape) is a great touch.
-
Ahh I see. My girlfriend likes my dealership the way it is, but I'm never satisfied with anything I build. My main issue is that it doesn't sit in a traditional modular footprint. If I decide to go up, ill give your lift a shot. I was also wondering if the garage door actually works and how you built it. I used the actual Lego garage door piece but I love the look of yours. Also, it appears we both like the checkered flag look to lead customers into the building.

I can't express how much I love this build. The details are superb, the building looks amazing, and the brick built bikes are enviable. This is easily my favorite contest entry to date. I would pay $200+ to have this in my town. It's given me a few ideas for my car dealership, which I would enter but it currently sits on a 48x16 space. I wanted to build up with mine, but I'm not sure how cars would get to a second floor showroom without the hand of god.

I had Mechwarrior 2 for the original Play Station and the TimberWolf was always my favorite mech. Great job on this, its far better than the ones I used to try to make.
