  1. Although I would really love to say yes, I need to say no. 3 transformer cars are 3 transformer cars, in the same way as 3 cars not being allowed. The point is to build 3 different models. So identical models no, but you could do 3 different models, which transform into robots, like a Car, a Plane and a Truck. Or you cold hold your thoughts and wait for a transformer contest, which I will surely try to organize in the near future
  2. Other members might have better suggestions, but since I haven't built a truck cab before, this is all I can suggest Maybe you could post some "failures", so we can give better advice.
  3. I have no experience with building truck cabs, but my strategy would be to download instructions for this model: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=8109-1 Or this one: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=8041-1 Or this one: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=42008-1 Looking at these three models, and building instructions, you should be able to replicate some parts of it.
  4. TRIPLE BUILD ENTRY TOPIC This topic is used to post your entry for the contest. DEADLINE Entries must be posted before 1:00 PM GMT, December 1st, 2013 so you can build all night on Saturday CONTEST INFORMATION More information about the contest can be found in the general discussion topic. ENTRY RULES Please take a careful look at the rules before posting in this topic. This entry post may include up to 10 pictures of 800x600 or smaller resolution and a maximum of 3 videos. IMPORTANT This topic should be used for entries only, so commenting is prohibited. Please use the general discussion topic for comments on the entries.
  5. Sharp!! I think you don't need to worry about the part count too much. This seems like a perfect small-to-medium sized model to me Thanks for posting the WIP. Reminds me I need to create the official entry topic.
  6. By old topic you mean the General Discussion topic? This topic is meant to be revived, so no harm done.
  7. They are using the Hitechnic IRLink Sensor, this one: http://www.hitechnic.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=NIL1046 The blocks are at the bottom of the page. PF IRLink Block - Controls Power Functions motors with IR Control unit Train IRLink Block - Controls LEGO R/C trains RCX IRLink Block - Transmits commands to a Mindstorms RCX and receives RCX sensor readings There's a special block for trains.
  8. Hi Nikki, Welcome to EB! When asking a question, you should try to be as clear as possible. Instead of saying you saw A video, you might want to include a link to (or embed) THE video. Do you have a link?
  9. That's what I meant....sort of.
  10. By flaws you mean things you would do differently? I think most of us are pretty satisfied with this voting setup. It avoids people joining, creating some useless posts and then never coming back again after the contest. Most important thing is that new members are eligible to take part in this contest and win great prizes! And new members can vote in next contest, just like you! Although you may be absolutely right, we have had quite some discussion about the current part limit rule and it seems that we have reached an understanding and everybody is happy with it. So we will keep the current limit for this contest. Sure, no problem! That's part of the setting. Could turn out great! No thanks. We would like to see more and better entries, so a little more time might do the trick. Good luck with the contest. Looking forward to your entry!
  11. I guess Model Team and Creator are pretty much the same when it comes to most of the vehicles.
  12. This is by no means a full explanation, but Model Team is somewhere in the middle of Technic and Creator. It's based on Technic, but finished with studded parts, to give it a more "finished" look. The Power Puller is Technic. It has nothing to do with the figure being included or not. Check out the Model Team models and pay attention to the studded parts, which give it a different (more realistic/finished) look than pure Technic. Feel free to correct or elaborate on this description. Check these models on Brickset: http://www.brickset.com/browse/themes/?theme=Model%20Team
  13. It's new to me! Tan to indicate a new length? Nice part BTW! And nice find.
  14. It's allowed, but keep in mind it's a Technic contest.
  15. Or just keep 'em small to medium sized
  16. That's exactly what's appreciated! Check out the plane with 499 parts http://www.brickset....ail/?Set=9394-1 Weight = 0.99Kg
  17. As long as there are 3 models, it's okay
  18. Yes, it's ready. From the manual: Connections and Placement Connect GlideWheel-AS connector to Sensor Port of your NXT.
  19. The contest description is: Create three small-to-medium sized models which relate to or interact with each other. Blakbird's answer was spot on!
  20. Totally forgot about the Mindsensors rotation sensor. Nice suggestion!
  21. I am afraid I haven't got permission to distribute the programs, so I can't share them yet. Thanks for the compliment. I am by no means an expert, but I like to help my fellow Mindstorms and Technic enthusiasts
  22. HiTechnic sensors are great! They work properly and they match the Lego form factor. However, they are rather pricey. I have used the caster ball from the EV3 educational set as a weight to "preload" the gears. However, this will only work if you can use gravity as a force vector.
