Jim replied to piterx's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Don't be too hard on yourself! I think it looks great. And I think the back of the car is awesome. Nice photography btw!! -

There's an LDD file. Just open it and select Building guide mode (F7). Sweet model! Guess I need to make this model, like I did with this C-model. I will do so this weekend and take some pictures for my review. I wanted to write a small review (for the Reviewer's Academy) but it grows bigger every day The 42004 proves to be very suitable for C-modelling Is this model for the Rebrickable contest as well?

Very true, I did forget those. -
Theme Month for Technic
Jim replied to VKTechnic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
To be sure; it's not a contest. It's a period where we will collectively try to build one or more MOCs, based on this theme. Maybe we can turn this into a contest If I understand correctly, you all appreciate a two month period for theme "month" or contest, right? Could be fun! -
How do I email building instructions?
Jim replied to 1717pikachu's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
That's indeed a very easy solution! Probably the best -
[C-MODEL] 42004 Buggy
Jim replied to imvanya's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
No problem! It was fun to build and the end result is quite good! I will attach the 8T gear and make some new pictures. There's also a bush left, which can be used in that place. -
[C-MODEL] 42004 Buggy
Jim replied to imvanya's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have made the modifications and here are the results. I have done minimal photo editing, so the backgrounds are a little gray. All images can be clicked for hi res version (on my flickr page there are also uber hi res versions. @Imvanya: feel free to use them! However, make sure it's allowed to use pictures taken by someone else in a contest. PS I do have some more pictures if you are interested! Nooooo, I missed the 8T gear on the roof :(( I can correct this and make some new pictures! -
Theme Month for Technic
Jim replied to VKTechnic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Of course! It's supposed to be for fun. Not too much rules and regulations! I guess JanuFebruAIRy is on! After closing the contest (this week) I will see if I can come up with something to make the theme month a bit more fun. -

My thoughts exactly! Just some fun collective building time! -
Theme Month for Technic
Jim replied to VKTechnic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was indeed thinking about two months, since one month is very short. We could combine JanuAIRy/FebruAIRy with C-model, but that might be pushing it -
Theme Month for Technic
Jim replied to VKTechnic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I just scanned the topic a bit for themes, must have missed it. Added it to the list. Personally I would like to go for JanuAIRy, possibly combined with FebruAIRy. Because of the Cargo Plane coming out. -
Theme Month for Technic
Jim replied to VKTechnic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I would like to think about this in a bit more detail. First we need to select the theme: SHIPTember Supercar Spring Trucktober JanuAIRy FebruAIRy New Years something C-model month Bustember ... Furthermore I would like to know what our goal would be? All of us build a MOC based on the theme? And in the end we all post our MOC in a dedicated thread? Let me know what you guys think. I have changed the title of this topic to be more generic. -
[C-MODEL] 42004 Buggy
Jim replied to imvanya's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That is indeed a better solution. Since I spoke to Nathanael Kuijpers at Legoworld I was planning on doing some C-models myself. They are great fun, since you have limited parts to work with, so you need to be really inventive. I will definitely try to organize a C-Model Theme Month or Contests. Some people are really good at this! -
[C-MODEL] 42004 Buggy
Jim replied to imvanya's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Actually that's a pretty nice solution. Using a "wider" steer does enhance the playability. I was thinking a bit differently, but I like this one! I will implement your changes and make some nice pictures tonight. -
Hello Bart, Welcome to EB! Nice to see you finally joined. Nice Blog btw

How do I email building instructions?
Jim replied to 1717pikachu's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
You can find the folder where the HTML file resides. The images will probably be in the same folder, or a subfolder. You should zip the entire folder, including the images. After that you can send the zip. However installing a PDF printer is a great idea as well. Instead of printing to a printer you print but select the PDF printer. That way a PDF will be created. Download Bullzip PDF printer. -
Lego F1 Car 42000
Jim replied to Legowife's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi Legowife, I agree with Zux. The official motorization does not result in remote controlled steering or driving. It's used to motorize rear spoiler and engine hood. However I would still suggest buying the PF set so he can do the official motorization. After that he can join this forum and we will show him some options for fully motorizing it. I will look up the topic(s) and post it here. PS don't forget to buy some batteries -

[C-MODEL] 42004 Buggy

Let me try to fix it as well, so we can compare solutions tomorrow! I will make pictures of both the original design and the fixed one. -
[C-MODEL] 42004 Buggy
Jim replied to imvanya's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The flaw might be fixable. I will make some decent pictures for you tomorrow. Afterwards I will see what I can do about the flaw. I do like the feature It does move, but you are close -
[C-MODEL] 42004 Buggy
Jim replied to imvanya's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have built the buggy. I must say I really like it. However, there's a fundamental design flaw. Typically a problem you can oversee when building in LDD. Any of you guys see what I mean? There's also a "hidden" (intentional or not?) feature in this model. Take a guess... I will make some pictures tomorrow!! -
