[MOD] 9396 Black Edition
Jim replied to Eigenbroetler's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nice! I've got a half one in black (Just the cockpit and front section. Never finished it.) -
[WIP] Tower Crane

I know it's a WIP and all, but could you take some better pictures? Especially of the entire model. It's hard to see this way. -
[C-MODEL] 42004 Excavator
Jim replied to fresko's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nice one! Although I agree that the arm does look a bit strange. Can you link the LFX file?- 12 replies

Technic General Discussion
Jim replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi Dooftastic, Welcome to Technic! The 9396 is one of my favorites. Great set! I almost never built the B-models, until recently. I joined the Reviewers Academy, so will be building more of the B-models. I have a computer on my dining room table, where I build most of the time. So I never print instructions. This works fine for me. -
EV3 (31313) Puppy?
Jim replied to d2mac's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I thought you already had the instructions. Take a look at this article: http://robotsquare.com/2013/10/01/education-ev3-45544-instruction/ It's not allowed to share the programs (yet) so I can't help you with that. -
FAQ Which set should I buy? These questions belong in this topic: Technic which set should I buy?. Please do not make a new topic for these kind of questions! Thanks! Where can I get information about Technic sets? For the general information (year of release, part count, price etc.) you can just use www.brickset.com. For a more in depth look at the Technic sets, www.technicopedia.com is a great place to take a look (although it isn't complete yet). Is my 8043 Motorized Excavator the new or the old version? The best way to check this, is to look at the code that's written on the linear actuator. You can read more about this here, here and here. I'm stuck while building my Technic MOC. Where can I get help? You can ask for help in this topic. What is GBC? GBC stands for Great Ball Contraption. It is a machine that can transport balls in any way possible. Often, multiple of these machines are put together to form a large contraption.

EV3 (31313) Puppy?
Jim replied to d2mac's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi d2mac! Welcome to EB! Nice to see another EV3 Enthusiast I haven't built the puppy yet, so I can't tell you exactly which parts you need extra. You could follow the building guide and look at the part list of the kit you are getting. It's a bit cumbersome, but you can deduct which parts you are missing. Or you could just buy the parts in the educational set. Not sure whether you are familiar with Bricklink, but here's the inventory for the Educational Kit: http://www.bricklink...v.asp?S=45544-1 You can compare the list with the inventory of the normal set. You can also take a look at this article on Robotsquare. Laurens did a pretty decent job explaining the differences: http://robotsquare.c...-education-ev3/ This article might be interesting as well: http://bricks.stacke...ducational-sets By the way; there's a Mindstorms General Discussion topic which you can use for these kind of questions. I will be merging this topic shortly. -
That's truly impressive!

Technic General Discussion
Jim replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The one with 6 holes is the newer version. There's a separate thread on this topic. I would have to look it up. New rims got introduced with the 42000 Grand Prix Racer, if I'm not mistaken. -
Gee's General Newbie Topic
Jim replied to Gee's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
No problem at all. Asking questions isn't a bad thing. And I do think it's a valid question! But it's the kind of question you can easily post in the General Discussion topic. Or in this topic of course -
Gee's General Newbie Topic
Jim replied to Gee's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have merged your question with your own topic, so you can have your own general conversation here. We like to keep the number of generic topics limited. Consider this your own topic and feel free to ask away! I have changed the topic as well When the time's right we can upgrade the title Obviously, you can also use the Technic General Discussion Topic to ask generic questions. -
I've considered using those, but they are so ugly!! It might be a good solution. Although people probably can't resist to click To be short; I will publish the results the way that the majority thinks is best.
-
I will take this into consideration and discuss it in the evaluation topic. Thanks. (my girlfriend made the same remark btw) Personally I think it's cool to be able to see where you've ended, even though this can be a bit harsh. On the other hand; it might discourage people to join a contest again.
-
Hmmm strange unexplained phenomena For next year I hope to organize 3 bi-monthly theme periods and 3 contests.
-
Nice to hear you appreciated this approach and even got interested in visiting the Technic forum
-
Nothing ever gets deleted on EB They will be Unpinned, but the topics will be accessible via the Technic Index! Thanks for the nice compliments guys! It surely took some time, but having these great members with great entries is awesome! And at the end of the day, all it takes are some well placed compliments to keep motivated, so thanks again The voting software is working pretty well, so that's covered. I will open an evaluation topic shortly in which we can discuss improvements for next contest. I am also drawing up an inventory on possible ways to gather prizes. Exactly my thoughts! From the moment I saw the first Wind-up Insect, I knew this was a winner! Then the Lifestyle Machines came. Very original too, and well executed. Who things of stuff like this?! The Quad and Water Scooter aren't as original as the previous entries, but Piterx made them so darn good, it's ridiculous! And let's not forget, like some others, Lipko and PiterX went the extra mile with their presentation! Presentation is key in a contest. Well done
-
I have written a piece of software which generates these results, so why not share them. You can see which votes where not eligible and it's nice to have some statistics (imho).
-
You did pretty well, but like you said....there were some pretty awesome entries to beat. By the way; are any of you interested in the list with valid voters or do you think it's just waste of space?
-
The votes have been counted, so here are the results! 1ST PRIZE Wind-up Insects - by Lipko 2ND PRIZE Lifestyle Machines - by Doc_Brown 3RD PRIZE Lifeguard Vehicles - by Piterx Congratulations to all prize winners!! And thumbs up for all participants. Check out the full results in the Technic Forum!

That's a nice page you've got there! Added it to the useful websites in the Technic Index. If you don't mind of course
