He's said on the stream it'd be a rwd model. -
Aftermarket Springs
amorti replied to Rishab N's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
My greyhound build has 8* Lego motorcycle shocks on. Half of them wear CaDA springs which take a mental 2.1kg to compress. The CaDA shocks themselves were junk, the two halves of the bodies were too tight fitting, couldn't move nicely at all, but the springs were useful. Comes to about the same total spring rate as a pair of Lego 15€ each shocks. -

@howitzer Just speculation is fine, what else is the internet for? Re the MouldKing lambo, I think you underestimate MK. I don't know much of it firsthand but I've seen some reviews online in English and German. The model seems decently designed although maybe not as thoroughly considered as TLG's. It has 4*4*4 with RC and a motor-driven manually-selected gearbox to operate the auxiliary functions. I've built a few large MK kits, and the part quality is so close to TLG's that if you built without looking, you wouldn't know a difference. Definitely better quality and (more importantly) more consistently good than CaDA. Why would you assume the new MK panels are poor quality? The Chinese can do CAD as well as the next guy. -

Super strong: For this reason I have didumos greyhound (with 4* high power MouldKing L motors) on the shelf, controlled with 2 buwizz and a gamepad. Super fast: For this reason I have Koncept Mantis (4* MouldKing high power L motors) and the MouldKing knock off of Madoca's pf buggy (2* MouldKing high speed L motors). Mantis is happy to drift any time you provoke it, the pf buggy doesn't want to do anything else. Probably this proves your point, since all those are much more powerful than any original Lego set. -

I can get behind an xr4*4 Sierra, but isn't the base model just some other rwd car, like you've said you didn't want to do? -

I think it's legitimate to speculate. Lego employs full-time designers, and there will have been several working on the Sian. There's also videos where the guys made physical trips to the factory and worked with the car designer. Brunojj1was cheaper to pay as a "gig" than that could possibly be. Lego has paid licensing fees to Lamborghini, CaDA has paid none. However I don't think this can come close to accounting for the price difference. Keep in mind the original retail price here, not the heavily discounted price the OP is quoting. Lego's pricing policy is horrible. Nearly every (probably every?) model eventually gets to -30% on Amazon, whether that's after a spell as a Lego shop exclusive or not. So why not just start the pricing at -20% and thereby support smaller retailers who stick to the suggested prices? The argument about the cost of designing new elements can also be dismissed, since MouldKing's Lamborghini was very cheap compared to Lego's, and contained 3(?) pairs of new panels. Part production is now mostly done by Lego in China. So that argument of cheap Chinese production costs for CaDA can be dismissed too. Paying more for a premium product? Tough sell. The CaDA packaging is pretty sweet. Lego has colour matching issues which are very noticeable on the display shelf. Idk... I can speculate as well as the next guy, but I don't have the answers. -

Part count doesn't tell you everything: 8 of the CaDA model's pieces are 4 motors, 2 LEDs, a Bluetooth battery box and a remote. Whilst the CaDA model is £50 less in the pricing you've quoted, it has way more value even with a few hundred fewer parts. Granted some of those parts do leave something to be desired, if the reviews are correct (and I don't see why they wouldn't be). That being said, Lego has its own issues with QC in terms of colour matching. Even so, if you want resale value, you have to get the Lego model. If you want playability, I don't see how you can beat an RC model with a gearbox that shifts while driving, and moves the paddles when it does it. I made my choice. My block toys are toys even after I've finished building them, not just dust gatherers. So my CaDA red supercar arrived today :) -
Trying to decide...
amorti replied to Snazzy Bricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I bought the Porsche. Built it, and sold it very soon after as it really wasn't for me. Features: The same differential and 6 cylinder engine as since 30 years Very wobbly suspension Steering with ridiculous play due to so many gears between the rack and the steering wheel. Many many gaps in the bodywork and an invisible floor. Really ugly headlights. That's all. That being said - if you want a shelf stander, it's ok. -
Feels like we've shuffled away from the point a bit far here? My 2c: CaDA doesn't have to publish instructions (for which they've paid money) without charge. Particularly not in order to help people build it using parts from another manufacturer. Yes, the parts list forms an integral part of the instructions and no, they don't have to gift you that either. Yes you can get a free parts list for Lego sets, which is part of them publishing instructions for free. No, it's not the same nor particularly relevant. Yes you get a free parts list on rebrickable since of course every afol needs to check his stock to see if he's close to having enough parts, before buying instructions. No, it's not the same nor particularly relevant. We don't get to tell CaDA how to do its business. If we want their copyrighted material (instructions or parts lists which form part thereof) we can pay money for it. Is that less generous than Lego? Yes, it is. But still, you can buy this kit with a Bluetooth box and 4 motors for around half the cost of an equivalent static Lego supercar. I think CaDA is generous enough. For my part, I've now ordered the set and am really looking forward to be building it. Of course I'll report back with my findings. You can expect an honest review, if nothing else everyone here will have noted I don't hold my words !

I know you mentioned a golf mk3 on the streams, and it seems to be your preference. There's only one problem with it, it's not a cool car. It's not cult like a mk1, it's not the first comfortable one that you'd still use daily now like a MK4 is... It's just the ugly sister. How about (in a similar architecture) a Renault 5 turbo, Williams Clio, any civic R... Something, anything, where the car itself is cool. -

How do the overall dimensions compare to a Lego 1:8 supercar? I guess a little bigger, as those tyres while the same overall diameter as supercar tyres, are representing a smaller irl wheel ? -

Looks great! It looks almost like you could have a height adjustable steering wheel here? Does the use of a LA cause the steering wheel to telescope towards the driver at all? -
Fair point and well made. Takes me back many many years when I worked at a Burger King, and some kids came in to take some "free" milk from the coffee making station. I told them "it's not free, it's complimentary, it comes with your coffee". Fair use must always be considered! Very interesting point! At what point to speed-build issues stray from fair use? I'd have to assume this one is/was sanctioned by CaDA, since ALF is a big proponent of CaDA and seems to be an affiliate or theirs. But if so, I bet CaDA didn't consider they could potentially lose sales due to it. You'd still have a hard time without a parts list though, unless you went through the video and generated one first. Sounds like way more work than just buying the CaDA set.

That being said, @Didumos69's Greyhound is also a paid-for MOC, but, having added descriptions and pictures to the MOC thread with various mods, I don't feel I've infringed on (C). So maybe photographing the section in question before and after a mod doesn't infringe (C)? There's definitely not enough to build the whole model from those kind of shots, so seems like a case of "fair use"? IDK... I'm not a (C) lawyer.

@astyanax I'd love to see a "pimp my pista" thread, but I think @LvdH makes a more valid point. While Lego instructions are immediately in the public domain, CaDA instructions are not. You wouldn't make a free instruction set to modify @T Lego's blue supercar which has paid for instructions on rebrickable, or @eric trax's Claas which is the same, the only difference here is that (for whatever reason), @brunojj1's instructions aren't on rebrickable, but they're still copyrighted, paid-for material.

Nice solution, if it fits the gap. Still needs something to stop it spinning but should be possible. -

I'd like to see a classic mini. There's some real technical challenges such as fwd with "correct" suspension, and the rear swingarm setup is wild. All that with some sort of elastomer suspension (rubber 2l connectors maybe?) should keep your interest in building it. -
Broken V2 Receiver Advice

It's possible to test the capacitors with a basic multimeter. Not something I'm an expert in, but YouTube taught me it can be done. -
Broken V2 Receiver Advice

Are there any capacitors visible on the board? They don't last forever. Otherwise maybe the fuse is failing? I know there is one, but nothing more than that. -
