  1. Still no sign at the main stores, but I found a fresh box at another store I normally don't go into and they said they had them since they came out. I know where I'm going for the next series. They still had series 7 and 8 as well, but I didn't need any more from those series.
  2. I finally found the forest maiden. She isn't as great as I originally had thought. I thought the face was misprinted since the eyebrows are skewed to the side and her lips don't seem to cover the black line very well, but looking back at this review I can see that is how it is supposed to be. The shield looks great,so I'm glad I picked a few of her up since the shield is going for around $3 on bricklink anyway. I told my daughter it was Merida and she said she needed a blue dress instead of green (she's 3). Oh well, I thought she would have liked her more.
  3. Beautiful work. It is very fitting for the Palace Cinema! It makes me want to build my own version of this whenever I pick that set up. It actually makes me want that Cinema set more. Keep up the great work. You are a master with cars.
  4. Harsh words. For every one that hates this license, there are plenty that love it. I'm actually most excited for this theme this summer and I'm more of a Middle Earth man myself. This will probably be one of the few movies I see in theaters this year too. So to each their own. That's the beauty of opinions. But I think these sets look great and I've grown quite accustomed to licensed skin tone actually. But I loved the original western theme when I was a kid. When I first heard of this theme, I dug out all of those figures and put them together. I like the CMF additions too.
  5. I love using plates to build things. It adds a lot to texture the landscape. I wish my PAB had some more plates. I bought tons of red-brown tiles though, so that helps.
  6. Well, with people seeing similarities on both sides, that can be said how similar the Kingdoms and Castle and Oxford castles are. But the same can be said for a traditional castle design and how to incorporate that into LEGO form. They mostly will look pretty similar I'm sure.
  7. I think one of the main problems is what little build do they include. With SW they have some small weapons or space crafts to build I guess, but with LOTR you would definitely need some form of landscape since it is all outside. I suppose a small wall structure could work too but then you start looking more like Uruk-Hai Army. I would imagine something more like the Endor Rebel Troop BP, but there aren't a lot of larger trees in LOTR with the larger battles that you would want to procure a sizable army anyway. So maybe a few baseplates with some shrubbery and some brick-built weaponry, like the clubs with Dwalin and stuff.
  8. As far as I know, Ninjago will return in 2014 because it was performing better than expected. I don't know any further truth to that. Back on topic here, I think they mention the main lines that were selling the best because they were "the best." They don't go into details on every single subtheme they have, simply because of time I would imagine. Plus, if there are under-performing themes they don't necessarily want to tell everyone that. What we perceive as a flop may actually sell better for TLG than we think, but they cut the theme loose because no current movie tie-ins or they only planned for it to be a one wave theme. I would imagine LOTR is selling better than expected, mostly because of the Hobbit push. But since that was released mid-year with Hobbit at the end of the year, they don't really have full numbers compared to Star Wars and City having many waves to pull data. You can refute that with Friends, however that was an all new market and they had multiple waves for that already too.
  9. Neat little build. I agree, it can be confusing, although my first assumption was snow. But it is odd how a trans clear plate over a white plate will look sandy. I suppose this would look more like ice crystals. I do agree throwing in some more white plates to help clarify that may help, but keep some of the trans clear plates to give that frozen look. I'm sure the minotaur's fur will keep him warm, but I hope that villager is/was warm.
  10. That is a nice little street scape. It seems very 1950s, even though I'm not from Australia. I can picture it anywhere. Keep up the good work!
  11. Kansas City is still the closest to me, but when we drive back to Indiana, there could be a potential stop. Although I may also stop at the Indy store, so I can have lots of choices! Awesome news. Good luck with the position!
  12. It is a license with the Nick show, not the movie. They would have to do a whole new license for the movie turtles, of which I don't see them doing to tarnish their good deal with Nickelodeon.
  13. Thanks for that. That is very interesting. I didn't know that was an actual job. I'm doing just fine with my chosen profession, but that is really neat! Sean Kenney is actually having a show near me in Omaha, NE until May I think. I should definitely go check that out sometime. I will definitely be looking into some of their work.
  14. I typically have to look up a lot of these characters. But most of them are pretty spot-on! I actually really like that Wendigo. I know nothing of the figure, but I like the grayish head and hair combo. I may have to copy that for a different unrelated figure idea.
  15. Well, if minifigures become the star attraction, then a true AFOL would be a rarity in the long term. I think if you are an adult fan of LEGO, then you are exactly that, an AFOL. Same goes for TFOL, and I would assume CFOL? Someone that buys only the LEGO keychains or LEGO video games, but not bricks, they still like a LEGO themed product, wouldn't they also be a FOL? But since I buy bricks to MOC/display and collect figures, I would venture a guess that I'm an AFOL. And having this many posts on this website would account for how I spend my time.
  16. I agree. LEGO typically is the most expensive option for LEGO products, but I still buy from them from time to time. The VIP program is neat and all, but if you wait for sales you typically will save more than what VIP offers. But the dilemma is waiting for the proper sale.
  17. I had no idea Amazon had some modulars for that cheap. I'll have to keep my eye out for the Town Hall again then. I will be waiting on the Cinema. As much as I love it, it doesn't take priority and I think it would be one of the first Modulars I end up MODing more than expected.
  18. Very clever build. I immediately thought of the toysnbricks contest when I saw this. Kez also has a brilliant set-up. Good competition in that contest for sure. But if this is just an idea you came up with and are currently working on another one for that contest, I don't want to enter. Very good build in such a small area. Keep up the good work!
  19. Creative idea! Good job on the fixtures. I should re-do our bathroom sometime. Thanks for the inspiration Keep up the good MOCs.
  20. I can't imagine multiple thousands for one golden figure..unless it was actual gold. Then I don't know what the actual value would be. But I agree, the Comic-Con figures are only a few hundred most of the time. Sometimes you can find a good deal on one though.
  21. I did not know that. Thank you for that information. I may have to try that. I think I saved a wrapper...
  22. Looking good. I have to be honest, as big of a fan of Batman as I am, I don't know much about Mad Hatter. But I can imagine what he would be like, and this seems very fitting! Keep up the good work! And I think a lot of people don't have the time or can't make the time to MOC, although people always love looking at them! I know I never have enough time.
  23. I'm with many on getting the Fire Brigade first. That was my first modular and so far has been my favorite overall look. I don't know much about fire houses though. And I actually really liked the Grand Emporium too. It really is a difficult decision, but I've never regretted getting any of them so far. I buy them in order, just so I can collect them all.
  24. That is a good thought about coming out with the Easter stuff, but the Targets around here (even the Super Target) have their Easter stuff out and no sign of minifigures. It's really weird. And I did check the B&N here (Nebraska) with no sign. I just know this time last year they were plentiful and I already had all of the figures I wanted. As it stands, I may have to trek up to TRU. I probably should anyway with the BOGO 50% sale.
  25. But by adding Aragorn into the battle pack you still take away one spot for another unnamed soldier, which is exactly what you said you wanted. They need to do two Rohan soldiers or two Gondor soldiers and two orcs or some variation and try to leave all of the named characters out since most people that want them will pick up the set with them in it.
