Replacement part section typically has most things, as long as they aren't licensed.figures or figure parts. This being a claw might be in the gray area, but I would check anyway. It's worth a shot. I know I've asked about certain products and they will tell me they can't sell those to me, then I'll ask about something else (that to me is similar enough) and they will sell it to me. So I don't understand everything exactly.

Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to Si-MOCs's topic in Guilds of Historica
Well, Kansas City did just get a new one last year, so it is a lot easier for us Nebraskans to go. I'm 3 hours from it. We went last October for my daughter's birthday celebration (also other fun stuff) and then we are going again next month for our anniversary. -
Great build. I like the landscaping and nature of the build. It looks as how I would assume a watchtower to look. As much as I love trees and yours are nothing to turn your nose up at, I would almost think for a military foothold, you'd want to clear away some of the trees near the tower, just so your vantage point could see everywhere. If someone were to get close enough, they may have a natural hiding spot right below the entrance to the watchtower and who knows what would happen from there. That's just my thinking. But otherwise, great build. Keep up the good work!

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I guess I'm not seeing the difference between that suit and his old suit. But either way, I'd welcome new Thor sets if the figures are cool enough. One of the warriors three reminded me a lot of how I picture Green Arrow from DC. Either way, hopefully they will come out with enough to promote the film, I'd just expect them in winter wave instead of when the movie comes out. -
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. My daughter wanted to watch it Saturday night and me being a merciful father, obliged. Actually I've rewatched all 8 films with her over the past few weeks, no problems there. HP is what brought me out of my Dark Ages. As far as why Captain America's shield was in Iron Man 2, there really isn't a reason. Basically to hold up his particle reactor I think. But this article just says it was in there as an easter egg for the fans and to allude to Captain America's own movie.

I recently built this set for my daughter. The bike is terrible. At least scale wise. I'm sure overall it would work and it probably is similar enough to the source material, but not my ideal bike. Although there are a few pieces I could use in a MOC I was thinking of, so I guess in the end it wasn't a bad purchase. The figures are gorgeous though. I wanted Shredder either way, but I mostly bought this for Donnie. LT - I don't know why your Shredder mask wouldn't stay on, I haven't had any issues with mine. I have been picking him up to look at him quite a bit too.

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

They may also release a Thor set in January instead of Oct/Nov similar to how they did with TDKR dvd release. That makes just as much sense to me. Thor 2 isn't as big of a deal as The Avengers was, so getting the toy out right away isn't going to matter as much. Either way, I'd expect a Thor set sometime. Hopefully it will have a different Thor costume in it, otherwise it might not be worth picking up. -
Time and money should be hobbies for everyone. How do we create more time and money? I would say a DA is when not wanting anything to do with the hobby. The fact that you still spend some time with it probably shows you aren't completely in the dark. However, that time may be coming soon.It sounds like you don't want it to come, so simply don't let it happen. Buy/build something and get out of your rut. I agree with others when maybe taking a break will allow that creative spark to reignite. Don't look at blogs, don't do anything with LEGO at all and see how quickly you are to come back to it. If you take a longer break than you originally thought you would have, then maybe that is all you needed, a break. On the other hand, I don't have enough time in the day to build anything, even though I have dozens of things in my head I want to see in brick form. I maybe can build a few hours per week, but I can spend a lot more time on this forum if I want.

I love(d) the Simpsons and would be interested to see how they handle the subject matter. But I don't find the show offensive or vulgar in any way shape or form. My 3 year old daughter loves the show. She has seen other questionable cartoons in passing (of which I don't watch anymore anyway) and she didn't find them nearly as entertaining as The Simpsons, even without context (her being 3). They can easily water it down for the "target audience" if they do indeed need it to be, but I agree with others above me how the material is nothing different than most licensed themes that aren't in the target audience. I doubt I will buy any sets unless they knock it out of the park, but it would be interesting to see how they would turn out (if made).

Minifigures Character Encyclopedia 2013
TheLegoDr replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That book looks really neat! I can't wait to pick it up. I like how the pages are displayed. It will give us great pictures and lots of information on each figure. But I suspect some filler pages too.. Has anyone noticed the Toy Soldier image on the book is different from the actual figure. The printing on the shako is over the plume on the actual figure, but below it on the image. I found that interesting. There is a better picture of it on the actual website the book has been displayed (seen at Brickset).- 68 replies

Ideas for New Action Themes
TheLegoDr replied to Perry the Platypus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I think that actually could work really well. I like the idea of incorporating a tv show to travel to different periods in time. I don't watch the shows, but it seems like it would work well for the kiddies. I missed out on the time cruisers sets, but I like that idea. If done appropriately, I would definitely want to buy those sets. I like the idea of time travel and steampunk for LEGO for some reason, even though I don't watch those types of shows/movies. On another note, does anyone remember what happened to that Polar Expedition wave? I thought that was supposed to be a summer wave for the action theme, but the catalog never mentioned anything. I may be missing something here. -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well if you think about the TDKR release, it was actually pretty lined up with the DVD/Blu-Ray release, which could be something they do with Thor also (meaning winter wave of 2014). While it may be good to have sets come out as the movie comes out, but if it is only one set, it might fare better with a later release. Avengers sets went with the movie release because it was multiple sets. Just speculation on my part, but I can understand the release schedule that way. But I hope if we do get a Thor set (which I assume we would), hopefully it will have some new stuff similar to the MoS sets. -
I believe it is to help get the creative juices flowing. It makes you a stronger builder by limiting what you have. Basically so you can still get the point across without the obvious accessory/figure. It's just for fun and I believe that is how the guidelines have been for all the series previously, so it's been successful in the past by doing it this way.

As far as I can tell, that is a great incarnation of it! I loved that set as a kid and this looks like a very suitable AFOL version! I love the tree work and the water effect. I can't wait to see the larger pictures.

I recall seeing a few sets clearanced after Christmas, but I don't see too many LOTR sets in general around here. Orc Forge is still at my local Target, but I don't recall seeing the others, only Hobbit themed. Sale or not, pick up the LOTR sets when you can. I may pick up a second something sometime.

Since I was in my DA during the initial Batman run, I missed out on all of those. However, after having purchased all of the new versions (except for Bane and Ivy) I would say I much prefer the newest incarnations of each of the characters. The detail and coloring are vastly improved I think. Catwoman - The torso printing to show her curves helps a lot instead of having her belt go across the entire mold. Plus the new cowl fits her face better. Poison Ivy - The only thing the previous had going for it was the fact that she had a "nude" top on with some leaves. They should have done that with Wonder Woman personally. But the new hair and head look better. Although I like the old head too. The new torso is miles ahead of the old though. Harley - I don't know what to put here. Overall better printing for sure. Joker - The new hairpiece and face printing helped tons. The body print is more whimsical in nature with the larger flower too. Mr. Freeze - I think I may be one of the few that prefers the new head to the old. I don't care about goggles for him at all. I think the new helmet works a lot better. It seems to incorporate a cooling system much more readily than the previous. Two-Face - I like the new color scheme. It adds some whimsy to the series, plus I heard it was more comic accurate?? I don't know about all of that, but the new face looks much better. Having no pupil in the affected side makes more sense to me personally. And I really like that grin on the good side. I wish they made that all the way across for a Harvey Dent figure. I'd prefer a new hair mold though. Riddler - I'm like many others, why is he so muscular? But it's just like Magneto being ripped also. Not every superhero and villain is covered in muscles. It actually takes away some of the character portrayal when they give everyone a six-pack. But I like the new face print and bowler hat. I'm glad they made that mold. Bane - I don't have the newest version, other than the Nolan one. The Nolan one is pretty spot on for the movies. As far as comparing the other two, I like the older chest. It looks more menacing, more muscular, which for him makes sense. But I prefer the new head. Something about the mouthpiece... Penguin - I prefer the older face and the older torso does look more rotund, but I like the printing/color better in the new version. I think the new face does look too young. I actually picture that face being used for the Mad Hatter other than the monocle. But I still like that I can get an updated version of him. Scarecrow - I don't mind GITD value, but I don't play with my figures, so it is lost on me. My daughter loves it though. So I'm glad the new version doesn't have the GITD version. I think the new printing looks scarier, so that helps bring it home. I think I will put that head on one of my business suits to make Jonathon Crane-style.

Considering LOTR is actually about Sam being the hero, you are doing yourself a disservice by not getting Shelob in some form. Shelob is a great build when finished and the best looking brick-built creature TLG has put out. Everyone raves about Uruk-Hai army and you do get some good Uruk-hais as a villain, but I wasn't as in love with that set as everyone else. Black Gate would be good for the exclusive figures for sure. I don't really have an answer out of those choices since everything LOTR is good. I would just buy them all and be done with it. Money does grow on trees after all...

LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Or they are released at a different release schedule than other places. Most stores near me still don't have them in stock, even though in other areas they've been out for almost 2 months. So you might want to keep looking around. LEGO brand store for sure would have them if you live near one. Otherwise TRU is the next most likely. -
Collectable Minifigure Sightings & Availability
TheLegoDr replied to mo123567's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That's because the skirted figures are the least distributed since clearly boys don't want to play with girls (sarcasm). They only come 1 per 30 pack box or 2 per 60 pack box. Edit: You may want to look at the review for full distribution and details. -

They are found at most retailers. Typically from what I've seen here, Toys R Us, Wal-Mart and Target for sure. And of course at the Lego Brand Retail store. I'm sure other places get them in also, but we don't have a lot of variety here in the midwest. I believe Fred Meyer? gets them, but that is elsewhere. So not really that exclusive in the grand scheme of things. -
Collectable Minifigure Sightings & Availability
TheLegoDr replied to mo123567's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Exactly! How do some of the people in the toy department not know about the figures. No one seems to understand what they are, even though I see the same people working in that department each time I go there. I don't understand. The last time I went to TRU, they were pretty dry also. I'm sure the stores are limiting their supply since they were leftover with previous stock those other times. But I could be completely wrong also. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10 Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The Colonial Soldier won't have an extra hat piece, otherwise they would have shown it in the picture. More than likely if they were to do one, it would have been molded with the wig underneath. The wig is great and I will use it in MOCs for sure, but I will probably end up giving them tri-corns anyway. The whole point is to bring something new to the table to make people want the figure/set, and in this case, a wig will do just that. If they included a tri-corn, many people would still like the figure, but not as much. The judge wig and the colonial wig are both big hits with the AFOL community, let alone the target audience will want to see some "accuracy" as well.- 1,076 replies

Review: 76007 Iron Man: Malibu Mansion Attack
TheLegoDr replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks for the review. I was already going to get this, but it's nice seeing some things close-up also. Finally having Pepper! I love getting more females in my LEGO world. The suit is awesome looking and having a civilian Tony is great too. I actually like how Mandarin turned out and it does stink they covered up that torso. I will probably want to use it elsewhere though for MOCing, but it looks great! I actually don't care too much for the Extremis infected people though and GITD is lost on me, but my 3 year old daughter loves that feature. I'll probably give the figure to her. And I may be the only one, but I actually like the helicopter. I think it does look menacing instead of squished. Thanks again. I can't wait to see this first hand. -
I'd recommend the Turtle Lair Attack set. I only purchased Kraang's Lab Escape, Shredder's Bike, and Turtle Lair to get all 4 turtles, Splinter and Shredder with a few foot soldiers. I haven't watched the show, so I can't attest to how well the others are and I didn't care about the villains other than Shredder. But with the Lair you get some good turtles, some villains, and Splinter (since he's exclusive to this set).

The only thing I could find out about that was them suing over some online casino games. It didn't mention anything involving LEGO or the video game.
