  1. Revolutionary Soldier is number 1. Amazon Warrior woman is number 2. Roman is number 3. Ever since I got out of my dark ages and picked up the IFS, I've been wanting an updated bluecoat torso and now I have it! The warrior woman is beautiful with that shield and hairpiece. I can't wait to get multiples of her. I really do like the Roman, but he is second fiddle to some of the other figures, but I do hope to get multiples of him too. As far as I can tell this will be the most expensive series to date. Hopefully my local Target will get this series since they never got in any series 9. I have multiple giftcards to spend!
  2. It looks like it is the Splinter keychain with $75 purchase, or a poster with TMNT/City purchase. I believe the Star Wars polybag goes bye-bye after March and only with Star Wars purchase.
  3. I'm not huge into Superman anyway, but this set looks decent. I may end up passing on the cheap Showdown set and pick this up instead since I won't need multiples of Zod or Superman. I rarely build vehicles unless they have some reason for me, so I doubt I would build anything in this set and just display the figures. I'm sure I could MOC something with some of the pieces though. There are so many great sets coming out this year, I am going to have to draw the line somewhere!
  4. Well, my last post was almost a year ago in this topic and I only had a little over 1000. As of now, I have 1370 and will be making a large order for double VIP points, so I'll probably be getting probably about 20 more, so close to 1390. I am quite pleased with that number, but 2000! That is amazing. By the end of the year will be a different story though..
  5. I guess not everyone looks at the small details. I see pants and assume to be correct. I'm not in on the designing, so I went with whomever put up that picture. Now, yes, it is clear that it is just a recolor of it, but at the initial posting of that picture (last year?) I would assume it to be as accurate as could be. Obviously Medusa was different because you would expect a tail, but otherwise everything was there to get an idea. I am glad he doesn't have bird droppings, although it would have been funny (like most CMF figures) if he did. I claimed he is more usable because then people wouldn't have to make the swap from dirty pants to clean pants. Not everyone has tons of spare pants around (if they wanted to make an army of him, which I know some people who do). I don't know why it is such a big deal with that one comment, but okay. Whatever floats your boat.
  6. No idea. We saw them at a Target this one day and grabbed one of each for our daughter and then the very next time we went to that same Target all of them were gone and haven't been restocked since. I imagine they must be on quite a short run, especially if S@H is already saying they are retiring soon. I'd grab them while I can if I were you. The rest of the polybags in random stores have been pretty hit/miss also. I saw one Ice cream cart at Target before V-Day and none have been restocked since even though there is a section in the Easter area for that particular set. And I saw a picnic set at Wal-mart, but only 1 of the 3 Wal-marts around had it. Whenever I see polybags anymore I grab them because I know I won't see them again anywhere else.
  7. Ultimately I would chalk it up to random variation in coloring. I would want things to look as uniform as I could, but weapons are going to be differently colored, that's just how it is. If it is only subtle, then so be it. But when it is such a stark contrast, then it can be more unsettling.
  8. Yeah, that is what I did. I filled in all of the windows with actual windows where I could, and then I use the lattice in the rounded windows whenever they are needed. Thanks to this thread I put in a few orders last night. I only needed a handful of pieces to actually finish my CC build, so I ordered most of them last night. Hopefully I can get around to building it.
  9. That is a lot of dark green! Very nice build. Perhaps adding in more windows in the back would allow more dark green to be freed up for elsewhere? Either way, it looks great. Any city could use an art gallery, so this is much needed. Keep up the good work!
  10. Very interesting creations. I like how you added in a lot of detailing/shaping in such a small scale. Ever since the minis came out I have been interested in smaller scale building. You did a great job with these. I really enjoy that last picture. I can't wait to see more. Keep up the good work.
  11. I noticed the bird droppings were gone also. That is unfortunate. Although, I guess technically he is more usable now for other settings, so it's a win in the long run. A Mrs. Gold...hmm, interesting.
  12. A lot depends on if it is a broken/missing part or if you are ordering parts. They offer both services and as stated above, it all depends on what you're doing. Typically with licensed themes they require a proof of purchase (for the licensed pieces requesting). They won't sell licensed pieces, but if one is broken, they will send it out with a proof of purchase. I've also heard other times when they said they can't do anything about it and apologized. So that is unfortunate, but it has happened. As for pirate hook hands, you'd have to order a whole figure torso since LEGO doesn't support the removal of hands from the arm assembly. So if you want only the hands, you'll have to find a figure with a hook and buy the torso assembly or go to ebay/bricklink.
  13. Recently I found the Quinjet for $44, so I bit. I originally didn't want it, but I decided to try to find the set at a good discount since Iron Man and Black Widow go for almost $40 by themselves (together). And then even more recently, I finally finished off Series 9 thanks to TRU BOGO 50% sale. Most stores around me still don't have them, so I just bit the bullet and got them cheaper at TRU, which is rare in itself. Now I can't wait until series 10 CMF. I doubt those will be released around me also with the poor distribution of series 9.
  14. Good job completing this project! I have so many other things on my plate that who knows when I will finish CC and GG. I ended up tearing up my Modded CC that I started so I could build a different modular for the contest last summer. I may get back into it sometime though. Since I simply display the sets and don't open them or look at them other than the front facade, I am actually going to not build the GG in full sand green, except for the front. As awesome as the back is with the fire escape ladder system, I will probably omit that to save some time/money, especially since I won't see it. I'm amazed to hear those top windows were so expensive. I recall buying them last summer in white for $0.40 or something. I know they were cheap, but no idea how much exactly. Now the front gated door and the blue are definitely hard to find/expensive, but I think I will end up changing all of that somehow. I end up adding the lattice to the windows or glass panes to windows that need it instead of these open air gaps. For whatever reason, I think my little figures shouldn't have to freeze, which is just plain silly.
  15. I really like the path also. Cobblestones work well with those round tiles. I may have to pick up some more after all. I considered doing the studded version instead. I really like the flower idea with the stud on top of the petals. Keep up the great work!
  16. I am really partial to tan and dark tan combos in MOCs. From now on I think all of my castles will have those combinations instead of the traditional light/dark bley. I'm not huge on this theme, so I will probably pass overall. But I am excited to see they are bringing back Castle to help further push the need of this theme onto youngsters. If I would have missed out on Kingdoms, I think this would be a good theme, but since I experienced Kingdoms right when I came out of my DA, I will most certainly pass on these sets.
  17. These look great! I love the foliage and water effect. I like how the first MOC builds a scene and then the second MOC ends that scene. Very creative. I like the rockwork also being SNOT-worthy horizontally instead of only using one plane. I may have to borrow that idea. Very creative. I had considered mixing light bley with tan before but I never knew how it would look. It looks pretty decent and very unique compared to all of the other light/dark bley combinations. Keep up the good work!
  18. I remember going to Ford's Theater on my high school trip to D.C. I don't recall how it looks too well since it has been about 10 years, but this is a very well done MOC. I agree about the railing and design of the booth. I don't remember a lot of about this important part of history, but this seems very fitting. Well done!
  19. I haven't seen that show, but I think I've seen the throne before through various pop culture mash-ups. From what I can recall, this seems fitting. Great job. Keep up the good work.
  20. I already have the original Western theme also, but these sets look awesome and are a great addition to the "theme." I love the figure detailing and the piece usage to build things. This should spark an interest in many people to get back into the Western genre. It seems to be dying otherwise.
  21. Thanks for posting a pictorial review. I was going to get this set anyway, mostly for the two Heroes. I don't care about these villains, probably because I don't know much about them. But this IM variant and War Machine are awesome! The boat I heard was actually pretty decent since the flick fire missiles aren't flicked at all. There is an actual mechanism to shoot them.
  22. Is it weird that most of those things splatman stated, I do already, but not to increase my LEGO budget, but to help pad the regular savings/budget overall.
  23. I typically have all of mine standing up as well. I don't really store too many figures since most of them are on "display" in my basement. I have enough shelving to just line them up on little plates so they don't topple over. Or I just have a stack of capes that I may use for other figures sometime. The Dollar Store has some deep enough containers (for $1, naturally) that would allow you to keep them standing, but also in a case.
  24. TRU must be doing something right since they stay in business, even with this model. I've noticed a lot of consumers at the recent sale in the LEGO aisle were buying a lot, even though I was fully aware of the actual prices of items. I mentioned it to a few people, but then I figured I shouldn't scare away customers because they may ask me to leave then. I purchased the series 9 CMF since they ended up being cheaper with that sale than normal retail prices. I think it was about $2.40 apiece instead of $2.99. Not huge savings, but it's the little things that count. I also bought some baseplates since they were only about $5 apiece after the sale and on S@H/bricklink they shoot for $8+ each. But I really wanted the Iron Man sets. With the sale I would have spent $2 more than MSRP at another retail store. That's more expensive WITH the sale. I would say that is a bit on the ridiculous side. But with the right sets, the sale can be quite good even with the mark-up. I think currently Target is having a sale, but it is only like 5% off or something. Although the A-Wing and a Galaxy Squad set are about 3-5$ off.
  25. I would assume most people who are unfamiliar with the product (and many who are) wouldn't know what LEGO was derived from in Danish. As far as most consumers, it is a name brand and has no other meaning. I knew LEGO was Danish when I was younger, but I never knew what LEGO meant until I came out of my DA a few years ago. So if people aren't fans of the product, I doubt they will know what it means even though almost everyone knows what LEGO is.
