  1. Holy cow, that's on par with -- if not more than -- the 1:8 supercar sets!
  2. We can't bend pieces in a virtual model. Here we see the front beam overlaps by almost half a module. Perhaps removing one of at its connection point on each side makes it easier to close... I'll test it when I finally get around to finish building it
  3. Yes it's a bit hard to close the hood. Most videos and photos I saw it wasn't closed properly. The problem is that it's a tight fit (some stress on parts required), plus there are lots of cables underneath which need to be tucked away to make room.
  4. Ah, I saw them on your flickr, via your Senna thread, before reading this post! Your solution may indeed be simpler, although it may look slightly "bulkier" as there's more black liftarms at the ends of the bars. But I'm just nitpicking to justify my own contrivance, obviously.
  5. As someone who's never built a 1:8 car from scratch before, I'm very impressed but also a little intimidated... In your flickr album I also noticed some nice edits to the headlights of your Porsche and Lamborghini -- I presume the latter glow in the dark?
  6. @LvdH I see, thanks for clarifying! I find it hard to keep track of what's happening in China. It would be fun to see some article or press release saying "DoubleEagle has taken MouldKing to court ... The result was ...". I'd have my popcorn ready!
  7. Although the central hole is partially covered by the panel bit, it does look like an axle hole to me... (Talking about the black panel on the roof)
  8. I think the opposite of what @Anio said is the more likely scenario: someone is bound to hold the truck by grabbing the barrel, and then push the truck. Without the clutch, this could twist and damage the mechanism.
  9. You seem to be implying that other companies can't clone the 488 Pista, but I don't see what would stop them, other than legal action by CaDA, but ostensibly that hasn't prevented the Centenario from being cloned either. Do you have some insight as to how this different agreement would impact the cloners' operation? Or am I reading too much into what you said?
  10. But the point is that the new 2x3 panel has an axle hole, not a pin hole. I can't believe they'd bring back this guy:
  11. Indeed this is a discussion we had several pages back. The topic was moved to the "community" forum but then moved back here again. So it seems we're allowed to discuss this particular set. It remains to be seen if this is an exception.
  12. The new 3x2 panel seems to offer connectivity like except with axle hole instead of pin hole. I don't think any other piece offers 3 axle holes like that. Some people may get creative and use the new panel for its connectivity rather than panel...ivity
  13. Can someone guess how the new 2x3 panel at the back of the roof air intake is connected? Here we see a black axle inserted into the center: But here there is no pin in the center: That would rule out this part: But a black 2L axle also wouldn't work, if the part at the center of the air intake is a T-shaped liftarm. It seems unlikely that TLG brings back the black 2L axle-pin. What do you think?
  14. I love to build the occasional 3000-piece supercar, and I love the choice out there on that front. But let's not forget there's amazing small stuff too, like little gimmicks that showcase one creative mechanism. For example the work of Yoshihito Isogawa. That sort of stuff can be found in Rebrickable too, although typically not on the Hot page. Perhaps this forum can help by offering not only a Hall of Fame of "pretty" builds, but also a pinned topic gathering "small, creative, wacky" builds? Or more competitions with that as topic?
  15. What's always bothered me is that the "ridge" between the front and rear attachment points is too tall, so you cannot place a beam or frame between them, like so: Do you plan to adapt the shape here?
  16. Welcomed? Cultivated! I think their business model kinda depends on people buying more sets even when they have tens of thousands of bricks already...
  17. Ow noes, I traumatized The Hamster! Anyway, for people who wanna try the glow-in-the-dark headlights, I'd recommend to use the "white" glow bars, not the "trans" glow bars, despite @Gray Gear's valid point that "transparent things should be transparent". Reasons: They're cheaper / more abundant. The trans glow bars have a greenish tint even at daylight, decreasing their distinction from the lime bodywork, and thus decreasing the distinctiveness of the car's overall look. They can be matched with white glow round tiles, which aren't available in trans glow. Caveat: I don't (yet) have white glow bars, so I can't tell for certain they are less greenish. Maybe someone else knows?
  18. The world has changed since set 8880. We now have an active network of people sharing B-models online (e.g. Rebrickable), including many excellent designs with excellent instructions. Perhaps TLG are fine with "crowd-sourcing" the B-models this way, saving on their own development cost.
  19. Indeed, I went ahead and ordered 6 bars, as well as 2 glow-in-the-dark round tiles. I agree the eyes are weird, but I wanted to complete the picture. So here's the result. This photo was taken in complete darkness, after shining my phone's flasher on the headlights for a few seconds. I hope @Sariel will be pleased to see this as well...
  20. It confuses me too. A topic on a beautiful BMW i8 just got moved out to Scale Modeling, even though a case could be made it'd fall under Model Team. Perhaps someone cares to rebut that case..?
  21. @jackalope https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-52395/CrMo2001/azura-lmp2-race-car/
  22. I understand your idea, but it looks like it would be very hard to disassemble... Here's a very simple alternative, which should allow minimal space for rocking:
  23. This is something the physical build will show. :) It's about part 15100 being used in red. The front end doesn't need to be an axle hole if the rear end holds it tightly. If it's a bit loose, I'd just add a (black) bush near the front end. Indeed, it's hard to replicate a subtle detail in a non-exaggerated way. LOL If it's the drivetrain you're referring to, I don't really consider the additional motors a mod, since it was clearly in Bruno's masterplan already. Anyway, here's how I plan to incorporate them:
