Thanks @Zerobricks and @That_LEGO_Guy, I'll try those in order! @amorti I've studied it quite a bit and there's really no bending involved. It's just that there are natural tolerances: the thickness of a gear or liftarm or bush is slightly less than 1M. Given the number of components involved (ring, catch, gear, axles, and the surrounding liftarms), the tolerances add up to roughly the length of the "teeth" of the driving ring. It takes quite some force to make all components shift to the end of their natural tolerance, but those BuWizz-powered buggy motors seem to be up to the task... @Jurss Right, and this is definitely pushing it. But I've seen you guys do things I thought wouldn't be possible either. I'm still trying to learn where that boundary is...

Thanks @amorti, it's lovely to follow your tinkering and progress! I was going to say, be careful when changing the suspension geometry, that it remains stiff enough -- but it seems you're well aware. I know the rear module looks a bit of an exotic jungle of connectors and frames, but the point to keep is that there's no way it can come loose horizontally nor vertically, because it'll be under a lot of stress. One potential issue is around your white #5 connector: for the original design, you cannot use its pin hole. Consider this view from the rear: The orange panels are actually leaning on the dark gray 1L beam, which prevents them from touching the 24-tooth gear. Space is rather tight there! BTW, my next car (instructions nearly finished) will be an ode to the wishbone, containing 26 of them!

Inspired by @Sariel's book I've been trying to incorporate a 2-speed transmission into a very high-speed car I'm building. Here's the essence of how it works: Now, please believe me when I say that, in the actual car, everything is extremely well braced -- it's impossible for gears to skip, and in fact they don't. The actual problem is this: using the fast gear, at very high acceleration -- I'm talking 2x BuWizz in Ludicrous mode -- the driving ring is pushed out of the clutch gear , even when the driving ring is held in place by a rotary catch which is itself extremely well braced. The result is lots of clicking and little movement. I can already hear some of you saying "You just shouldn't apply so much force to ABS plastic; of course it'll bend!" Nonetheless, I'd love to hear if you know of any super robust way to hold a driving ring firmly inside a clutch gear!

Certainly those would all work, technically speaking. As the wheel arches are open and 5M wide, tires that don't fill this width might compromise the looks somewhat. But if you don't mind, who cares? Unfortunately I don't have any photos of the Mantis with swirl wheels or Landrover wheels, and my Mantis has been disassembled long ago. Nonetheless here's a photo of the Mantis next to set 8448, maybe that'll help: Full size photo Well, I did try putting on the huge 92912 tires... They actually fit inside the wheel arches; however, you can no longer steer. Could still be an option for straight-line drag racing!

Congrats on finishing something! I love the usage of quarter-circle gear racks as wheels arches, and I don't care whether or not that actually looks good haha! -
Finished. It's gorgeous. Nothing else to say. I made minor tweaks where I saw fit -- I guess only the designer will spot the differences. It took some effort and creativity to keep the bodywork entirely Red. The only place where I couldn't find a satisfactory alternative connection was for the front blinkers. Oh well. Bricksafe album here

A little update: Not yet finished, but looking splendid already! I realized the Ferrari Dino is built on (almost) the same chassis as the Lancia Stratos, which I still had assembled, so I stripped off its bodywork, and during the build of the Dino I'm just stealing parts from the Stratos where needed. Except for part 18944 all parts are genuine Lego. I challenged myself to make the bodywork entirely red, which is difficult because the design uses a lot of part 15100 and 10197 which aren't available in red. I tried finding alternative connections using part 22961 , which went well so far, but I only have 18 from the Rough Terrain Crane and they've all run out already, while I still have to fit the doors... Anyhow, they build has been very enjoyable so far!

I think the linear clutch is there for the obvious scenario where someone tries to drive the truck by the drum. It's a big smooth thing that will certainly look like an attractive part to grab the truck by. Easy mistake to make for the inattentive person. -

On a real concrete mixer truck, is the drum also connected to the wheels? Or can it be while driving? Then which way does the drum rotate when reversing? (I know nothing about real trucks...) -
