  1. All I see is a headrest for 1:10 / 1:12 car seats...
  2. Still busy with the physical build... (finished the chairs, yey) Also still tinkering digitally with the headlights... (because I'm not planning to install LEDs) If I were more audacious, I'd say I finally nailed it. The solution seems so simple in retrospect, because -- apart from the minifig head -- it's fully Technic. I'll steal the head in flat silver off my Batmobile (76139), and the DBG #21/22 panels off my Sian (42115). Compare: Expand the spoiler to see the construction. Maybe looks a bit contrived at first, but it's made such that the panels' curves line up perfectly, without colliding with the hood, wheels, etc.
  3. It seeeeems to fit... in LDCad. But it's tight, surrounded by lots of parts at angles where the virtual model may be at odds with reality. I'll give it a try later, after finishing the build with 'stock' headlights -- this area will be easy to access anyway.
  4. Well, my idea was to try and use a to truly make the light itself bigger. A minifig head fits inside a barrel (kinda gruesome thought, now that I'm writing that down...). But nothing bulb-like fits inside a clutch ring extension. Anyhow, I don't think this is gonna lead to any improvement over my earlier brick-built solution that just lifts and moves out the a bit...
  5. I felt like the headlights could be slightly bigger, wanted to see how that looks..... Hmmmmmm.....
  6. Finally got around to filming my red mod on the turntable...
  7. I forgot that I had made a video of my red-black version... now uploaded to YouTube (no audio)
  8. But you see black pins everywhere among the red bodywork, so it doesn't distract at all. IMO it's better to see black where red was expected, than to see red where black was expected.
  9. Maybe I'm too naive, but I was thinking in this direction... As you're undoubtedly aware, the headlights are sitting slightly too low. Clearly this was done to have room from behind for inserting the LED. But somehow I never bothered to acquire LEDs. So I'm building without lights. Which to me raised the question whether I can move the headlights to a better position. I'm not happy yet with the exact connection, but the position seems better to me. Compare original and mod:
  10. Darrrrrn. I had this on my to-build list already, but it just jumped toward the top!
  11. @roland Is there also a way to change the default angle of parts in the parts bin, particularly in Favorites? For example, at the default angle, and look identical. (There are many more such pairs.)
  12. Yeah I was afraid you guys might be thinking I'm trying to turn this thread into a personal blog or something... As the next tiny detail, I might get rid of the 2 red pins at the top of the windshield... seems straightforward enough... But I'm hoping to get some physical building done this weekend, reconstructing the gearbox as per Bruno's idea above. I'll be stuck indoors anyway, as they're expecting a meter of fresh snow to fall in my Alpine town tomorrow...
  13. Thanks, that workaround seems to provide exactly what I was after!
  14. @JunkstyleGio Don't underestimate my appetite for fighting over tiny details! Even returning to the original size for the sideview mirrors, I maintain they look better with System pieces. My main reason for this claim is style consistency: if the rearview mirror gets a transparent plate, so will my sideview mirrors. Compare original and mod: The driver side mirror is composed of , , , , .
  15. The servo stepper has found its way to Rebrickable. Not sure if this was an invention of @brunojj1, but the Rebrickable entry does not quote any source for the idea.
  16. Well, you've chosen a very extreme setup by combining 2x buggy motor with light-weight model and planetary hubs... So somewhere some plastic is gonna suffer! (I mean this as an encouragement haha!)
  17. In LDCad, is there a way to assign a default color to a part in the Favorites parts bin, such that it's always shown with that color in the Favorites, no matter the working color in the color bin? For example, and are next to each other in my Favorites, but when they both take on the same working color, it's very hard to see the difference. They should always be these colors anyway, without me having to go through the additional step of selecting blue or tan each time.
  18. Agreed 100% with @Captainowie -- switch to LDCad (and LPub3D for subsequently generating instructions) while you still can. @JLiu15 Please note that there's a subforum dedicated to this kind of digital buidling questions. Probably an admin will soon move this thread... https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/forum/128-lego-digital-designer-and-other-digital-tools/
  19. It looks to me like this thing is not gonna bounce; it's gonna fly when it hits a rock! You're going from buggy motor inner (fast) output, to 20/12 gearing UP, to planetary hubs. Now, I've previously done some experiments with connecting a buggy motor's inner output directly to a planetary hub, and I was surprised how fast that was! And this is gonna be even faster...
  20. They're not exactly "laying around", but when I need some System parts, I "borrow" them from sets like 10265 (Mustang) or 76139 (Batmobile) that I have on display. They'll temporarily be a bit more fragile, but no-one will see they're missing a few brackets underneath. It's like I learned nothing from the Koncept Mantis... Worse, I have the tendency to interpret warnings as challenges... So on that note, let me share an idea for the mirrors. I had a few (minor) issues with those: the rearview mirror has an exposed stud the sideview mirrors don't have a trans-clear piece like the rearview mirror does -- a stylistic inconsistency the sideview mirrors' connections are too low on friction, as pointed out in Sariel's video review (I expect also the rearview mirror to be wobbly) So, here are my proposed fixes: Ostensibly, and are my new best buddies.
  21. So reading through this thread, I was wondering what the fuss was all about... I recently built the Chiron, and it's sturdy as a tank, but operates smooth as butter. Very impressive, zero complaints. But then I realized, I only built the pimped version. I guess y'all really did make substantial improvements! Yey fellow AFOLs!
  22. Lacking stickers, I've sought to create a hint of the Ferrari logo on the nose, in the form of a yellow 1x1 tile: At first I thought placing a tile in that location was impossible due to a lack of attachment points. But then I realized that there exist these small System brackets, and that one can push studs into both sides of a thin liftarm simultaneously. So here's the underside of my mod of tip of the nose: This solution also provides the attachment points for adding some slopes underneath the tip, in line with the source material:
  23. I'm all in favor of beams with alternating holes, but somehow I feel they should have an even length, like 4L, 6L, 8L, ...
  24. Thanks! I checked, and indeed there's room for this setup. I had just added the fake engine on top, but I think I'll go back and change the gears -- it's not too much work at this point still. I have freed 2 BuWizzes so I trust this 20/12 gearing up will work out! I prefer Pimp my Pista! <waiving hands like a gangsta>
