Nonetheless @T Lego's Centenario uses a chain in the gear switching setup, and that one is also marketed by CaDA... I only build with genuine Lego so I can't compare brands, but I've not had problems shifting with the Centenario -- it's super smooth and reliable in my experience. Now, the 488 Pista may be under a lot more stress due to all the motors (I use 4x PF Large). That's why I'm asking whether someone actually tried. Yes just look around for frictionless pins and rubber connectors and bands . It's true that it's often hard to see if a connection is illegal when building only physically. In a virtual model, however, it's easy to spot collisions. LDCad can't bend the plastic.

@brunojj1 Did you ever consider putting a chain instead of the red 16-tooth gear to connect the 2 gear shift axles? This is just in front of the rear axle: The red 16-tooth gear used to be in the place of the axle highlighted in purple. The upshot of this setup would be that it allows that highlighted 4L axle with center stop to be used, which'll be locked in place. Here there used to be an 8L axle, which theoretically has the danger of slipping into the differential. Of course the red 16-tooth gear could've stayed there but I'd be afraid the gray axle connector, which is on the drive axle, would rub against it, causing friction or even spurious gear shifts.

In the tradition of Pimp Up My GT3/Chiron/Sian/Defender, I've published the virtual model with my 'tweaks' to Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-89859/astyanax/pimp-my-pista-ferrari-488-pista-by-brunojj1/ Hopefully this can serve as a basis for others to get creative. @amorti If you think it's appropriate, you could add the above link to the first post?

It seems to me that someone did make an effort to minimize the number of blue pins in the bodywork. Clearly the EB crowd is not the target audience here, so I'm not surprised by the lukewarm reception. Like y'all, I see mostly a decent parts pack. But I'm sure 10yo me would've been super excited seeing this set!

Isn't it also just that Technic is a much smaller part of TLG's business, and as a result, updates to the Technic element range receive less focus?- 5,507 replies

Interesting... From time to time I looked for 42099 at B&P and the planetary hub wasn't even listed in the inventory.- 5,507 replies

Today I learned: that part 15406 exists. Looks like it could be useful in Technic builds. Anyone ever found a cool use for it?- 5,507 replies

This is pretty much all my Technic Lego in one photo. Enough to build 2-3 large models at the same time. In terms of panels for bodywork I only collect Red and Lime parts, but I have a lot of both, so I can build pretty much build any vehicle in either color. I'm always happy to disassemble and sort -- I find it very relaxing.

Can you include a photo or rendering of this fix? -

Just ! The parts list does not include the flexible parts though (flex axles, ribbed hoses, and the like). -
Nothing is impossible... but yeah sometimes the price is as high as a redesign. I've also found before that there's a profound lack of parts featuring a ball cup, especially small/short ones. Perhaps have a look are what the non-Technic range has to offer -- it has helped me out before. https://rebrickable.com/parts/?get_drill_downs=&q=Cup&part_cat=9 Oh and isn't there a problem that 32494 let's the axle slide whereas 52731 doesn't?

I love it! Putting in the minifig is brilliant, poor guy seems very confused... -
For all practical purposes, impossible. So I don't think they'll make good steering motors... unless maybe you want to steer by linear actuator as in some heavy construction vehicles.
