I love how the nose flows together with the angles! I get what you mean with working with small pieces, when I build my 1:8 Scale Supercar MOCs some of the biggest fun is doing all the Piping and other details in the engine bay

Very cool build! I am working on a (human girl) figure from one of my favorite Anime rn, and seing how different one can build when not building a human is very interesting! Especially that "skirt" (idk what else to call it) is new to me. I would have never thought to use a rubber band to hold bricks in place, as this makes the figure very fragile. But it does look good. What happened to his wings btw? I think he would look a lot cooler if he had wings

[WIP] Crawler Crane
Gray Gear replied to gvo25's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Lookoing good! Only thing I don't like is the height of the tracks. Using the smaller drive wheels and a loger trackbase would be more visually pleasing for me.- 33 replies

You could add a 12t gear on the axle, connected to a 12t gear with a friction pin Also, at the very top of the Eurobricks Technic Page there is a thread named Generic Building Help Topic. It was created to avoid a new thread for every little problem someone might encounter. But its little use if people just ignore it and make a new thread anyway. Please keep that in mind next time you have a question

Brake Disc Hub + Porsche Wheels
Gray Gear replied to Fgo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@SNIPE I just tried this, and while it seems to work I don't feel this solution is advisable either. Its like a car running on massive wheel spacers: Very bad steering geometry and a lot of additional strain for the wheel hubs. Personally I'd recommend to use the Disc brakes and buy a set of Sian wheels. -
Toyota MR2 (SW20)
Gray Gear replied to danielsmocs's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I really Like the MR2, I have a big MR2 poster hanging in my bedroom Overall this build is very well done, all the doors and even the pop-up headlights work, that's very cool. The sides and rear of the MOC are also very recognizable, easy to see that's a 2nd gen MR2. But I can't say the same about the front, it just doesn't look like MR2 at all to me... All in all a very well made MOC, I can see you put a lot of effort into small details as well. Well done. -
Brake Disc Hub + Porsche Wheels
Gray Gear replied to Fgo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I encountered this same problem a good while ago. There is no solution to make this work. The Porsche wheels were not made to work with the brake disc hubs, and while you can kind of fix them with 3L Pins you still end up with a different offset which will make it very diffcult to achieve good fitment. -
@SaperPL Haha I feel you I make hood vents to make the hood less plain and to make the car look more agressive

Nice little car. Kind of reminds me of a suzuki cappuchino... Exept for the carbureted engine. The bodystyle looks way too modern to still run a carburetor fuel setup imo.

General Part Discussion
Gray Gear replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I bet they hope to increase sales of complete sets by making that the only way to get new bricks... And its going to work to some extent. For Bricklink sellers this will become less profitable I think.- 5,506 replies

@Berthil I get what you are saying, but I wasn't talking about the updated mould. The old mould without a slot has a average used price of 0,21 EUR on Bricklink. Average new price is 1,30 EUR. Rebrickable just has an inflated price for whatever reason, but i guess they calculate with new Bricks?

@Berthil I agree. Rebrickable lists 1,80 EUR for LEGO 75535, while average used price on Bricklink is 0,21 EUR for example lol. I think one could compete with a lot less money involved, just get a bit creative!

I am still pretty new to LotR, I have only listened to the audiobook of the Hobbit twice and am on my second listen of the LotR audiobook. In Harry potter I know basically every caracter i think, but the world of Tolkien is so much bigger that I still know close to nothing I think. Regarding the MOC I gotta say i really like the snot techniques in the walls, and that mssive bush in the back made from those flexible tentacle pieces

I just added building instructions for a White version of this MOC on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-62624/Gray_Gear/nissan-skyline-r32-gtr/#details. It will of course be free for all who bought the black version already. I hope this will stop people sending me DMs asking for instructions and part lists in different colors Of course you need some paint or china bricks for the white version as well, just to answer that question before it is asked. Nico71's Creations
Gray Gear replied to nico71's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I like the way the hubs and motors are placed in the hull, making for a very equal weight distribution. However this results in the drive sprocket to be in the front on one side, and the back on the other. THat's not something I like. But you can't have everything -
First of all: By providing the entire shifting mechanism and transmission for this car I do think I have earned to be credited by name everywhere you present this car, and link to my youtube video. I am happy to see my design being useful to others, but at the same time I still want people to know it is my design. Is the transmission reliable btw? It was just a prototype I made to show off the shifting system in a reasonable form factor, but i didn't really like it as much as the other transmission i use in different layouts in my Mazda RX-7, Nissan GT-R and Nissan 180SX. I have good and bad things to say about this MOC. I really like the air suspension system, I'd aprechiate if you'd explain how it works in detail. Nice stuff. The easily removable engine is awesome, a nice idea and very well executed. I wouldn't do this myself as my engines are always connected to other stuff like the Radiator, intercooler etc, but I do like the idea. You could even build a small engine crane to pull the engine :) Despite this feature the engine still has some nice details, which is great. What I dont really like is the bodywork. Sorry to say this, but I I think the bodywork does not look refined. The overall proportions of the car looks fine, but the body just has a lot of places that look cluttered or don't really flow together. Like that panel on the end of the doors for example, leading the slope of the curved 11L panel straight into a hard corner. That's just not something I would do with my taste of bodywork style. Or the area under the headlights and the B-pillars. Looks like something is missing there. But my biggest complaint are the headlights. In my personal opinion, if the "eyes" of a car don't look good the whole car doesn't. It is one of the most defining factors of a car, and 2 non transparent technic pieces just don't do it for me. Overall it is a nice MOC with some nice interesting functions on the inside, but a mediocre bodywork on the outside. Keep in mind I am comparing others supercar MOCs to my own Cars, so I tend to be more critical to car builders than to a crane or an excavator for example Also, just a heads up: In your video it say the MOC has 3000+ pieces, but your part list on rebrickable only lists ~2500...

Hi Sariel. I wanted to give a short but earnest "Thank you" for the work you put in these tools. I have used the Model Scaler for all of my MOCs, and I will continue to do so for the next one. You are talking like a child. Sariel here is offering and improving free tools for the communtity. He came back here so people that don't follow social media much (like me) still know the updates happened and can take advantage of the new features. I disliked the way Sariel left as well and I don't agree with everything that was said, but I can see why he reacted the way he did back then. Someone with 12 Posts should be very careful about how he speaks here. I don't know why you even care if Sariel is in this Forum or not, considering you yourself might just as well not be here with an average of like 1 post a month at max.

I like the overall look of the build. Especially that yellow power unit with wheels on the roof! What I don't like is the lack of logic and explanation behind the propulsion system. I know this fantasy and stuff, but the backstory doesn't explain how this thing is supposed to fly, without any wings or any other method to gain lift. I know it is possible to fly a large vehilce over the surface of water very fast and efficient utilizing a phenomenon called the "ground effect". The soviet union sucessfully developed a Vehicle called the "KM" >>Link<< which was able to fly in the ground effect despite its massive weight of 240 tons, with a maximim total weight loaded with cargo over 500 tons. So making a little city or island fly in the ground effect could totally be possible, as the gound effect vehicles get more efficient the bigger you make them. But ground effect vehicles still need wings to gain lift. And the most fatal flaw of the KM (ignoring its inability to turn reasonably) was the fact that the Jet Engines needed frequent maintance due to the salt water sucked into the engines, despite their very high placement on the vehicle. You placed the jet engines right above the water, where they will suck in a lot of water and even sink into the water once the vehicle stops moving. Not a good idea imo
