@IA creations I like JDM tuner cars. There is just something about a nice cooling setup that is visible from the outside. It just looks awesome, like big brakes or GT wings. I know this is a NA V8 so there isn't really a need for a big intercooler, but I still think a upgraded Radiator could look good behind these front vents. It would give them some "purpose" too

Good question. In most cases a pin with friction would be better, so why LEGO only has a frictionless version is kind of odd. I have used quarter pins with friction from a different brand for a while now, so I can say that they make a lot stronger connections with bricks because they don't wobble. Really nice to have. But I guess not really needed in tlg's eyes.

Why does it look so familiar ? I would be interested to see how the driving station looks like :)- 21 replies

I like that TLG chose the Megalodon Truck. It is a truck that looks like a angry shark. It is cool and I think Kids will like this one, I know I would have liked it when I was a kid. Regarding Price I think those Trucks are not that terribly priced compared to the rest of the LEGO lineup. 20 bucks for 260 bricks is ~7.7 cents/brick, which isn't terrible considering is has a wind-up Motor too. Kids will be able to pick them up for 15 EUR if they wait a bit, so they can make a birthday present for a friend or just something a kid can afford to buy with their own pocket money. Not bad at all.

[MOC] 1:16 McLaren F1
Gray Gear replied to OnyyX's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hm. Overall the look isn't bad at all, but the side profile looks very...system. I like the details in the engine bay and interior. But there are a lot of building techniques used that look like they'll fall apart if I take a closer look. That 1x8 tile running up to the roof is connected by 1 stud only, and that stud is even connected to another single stud brick... Probably pretty good for a system car, but too fragile for my taste -
@nerdsforprez Exactly what I was thinking. The engineering part is there, but the materials part is not. No Metal components, no carbon fiber components, nothing. Let's do a small bit of math: 5xBuWizz: 1000EUR. 10x BuWizzz motor: 300EUR. 5 more motors estimated: 200 EUR max. Bricks+Custom prints+custom wheels estimated: 1000EUR max. Sum: 2500 EUR. Profit: 50%+, >2500 EUR. Of course this calculation is flawed because they don't pay consumer prices for the BuWizz components and buy all the stuff in bulk, so at least 20% more profit is probably realistic.

For 5000 EUR they should make all metal drivetrain components with ball bearing wheel hubs so the car can at least perform more than once.

@TechnicRCRacer You must have bought either really cheap and/or old bricks then. I build a lot of MOCs using non-LEGO bricks, and I cannot say the same. There are companys that have good quality, and there are ones that have bad quality. Reading reviews and opinions of others is what you should do before buying bricks from china. Do you buy a new Smartphone just because it's only 80€? No. Take some time to read reviews and articles, and then decide if you want to buy the product. There are great china bricks out there, but if you buy uneucated you might be in for a disappointment. If you want really good quality I wouldn't recommend MORK btw

Another Drift Car (WIP)
Gray Gear replied to FriedlS's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@FriedlS Left: AE86 Trueno Right: AE86 Levin Basically the same car with a bit different design. Both were offered not only as a Hatchback but also like this: -

Why Trueno? it has fixed headlights, so I's say Levin vibes -
@2GodBDGlory I doubt too little weight would be a problem with 11 motors and 5 BuWizz units inside + the weight of the car itself.

I didn't know this car company even existed, and I thought this was one of these "lookalike" cars from the videogame GTA at first First of all: I don't think the real car is good looking. Looks like a GTA car for real. But I do think you recreated the real car's shape pretty well. Custom prints and custom wheels are very nice, and that you made the wheels yourself... +Respect. But what this is really about is the electronics inside. 10 Buggy motors is absolutely insane, that engine assembly is crazy! With so much power you should be able to pull real rwd drifts and do donuts and all the other fun stuff one can do with exessive RWD power I honestly think this is way past what Lego bricks were designed for. I would be very interested to see how the Lego bricks inside handle the power over a longer period of time. Will bricks start to melt before the buwizz run out of juice if you just keep the foot down? How much plastic dust is inside the wheel hubs after a top speed run?

If you are going to print a new one anyway I can understand. I drill all my disc brakes on my Supercar MOCs. The lbg disc brakes i use are from GoBricks and not Lego, but I wouldn't care either way Imo those brake discs should have had holes from the factory.

Those huge brakes on the front wheel look mean! I really like it. So 3D printed Wheels+Brakes, front schocks, Honeycomb sideplates, small link with bar holes. Did I miss anything? But please drill out the holes in the rear disc brake, with the ammount of custom work you have already done I'd thought it would be natural

Nice MOC! But what does self-moc even mean? I like how flexible the figure is, and white-blue is a very nice colorsceme. Also interesting use of those spring-shooter rockets as sword handles
