LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hahaha yes Really, I see a fair amount of (justified) complaints from people that they can't get ahold of the set... Don't act like the US people are the only ones who complain about stuff like this. -
That's a truly amazing build. You really managed to capture the shape of the transport, and the level of detail is fantastic. The interior is amazing too, I love the inclusion of a weapon rack and those exposed pipes.

I would say it's "a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one", although I think many of us suspected this. It's actually phase 2 of the american revolution, we've been planning this for centuries. I totally get it though, I'd be pretty annoyed if it was only available in the UK. At least there isn't much exclusive to the set. -
Buying the instructions is purchasing a product, in this case something @Jerac probably worked very hard on. He's putting in effort, so it makes sense, at least to me, that he'd want something in return for that effort. If you don't feel the same way, than just don't buy the instructions. I doubt complaining will compel him to give you them for free. Star wars scaling is always going to be inherently weird, and made so much worse when you take it into lego, where the figures aren't exactly the same proportions as humans (or wookies, ewoks, ugnaughts, jawas, etc ). I think this works pretty darn well as a minifigure scale y-wing.

Do you just dislike brickvault, or are you upset that he wants to make money for his work at this great MOC? Edit: 2000th post, yay!

I just got mine too! Great set, I love the ahsoka figure, very detailed and looks great. 332nd trooper is great too, although I think the ahsoka "face" print on the helmet needs to be a bit more red. Looking at the CW model against the build, it's pretty accurate aside from a few coloring issues, and...that turret. God, what were they thinking? It's easily longer than rest of the tank, although luckily is easy enough to fix. -
Looks great! It's kind of weird seeing the full ship, and not just the part that we see above water in the film.

What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?
Mandalorianknight replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I will be stealing this idea, should I ever get a girlfriend. I have 4 separate orders coming in. I pre-ordered the razor crest all the way back when it first became available for pre-order and have no idea what's going on with it, pre-ordered two tanks off amazon that are supposed to ship today, then used VIP points to get 3 501st sets for about $20 total, but on backorder until the 11th, then finally a bespin duel off target because it had already sold out on the lego site. -

Yes, but that wasn't really my point, more so that the fallen order game was far less violent than more mainstream SW stuff like the films. I haven't been charged yet, I'm worried about my order... ^this. I'll always prefer to have a transport with empty space than a set that SHOULD be a transport without any space. Easier to add in details than to completely redesign a set. -
Horror/Spooky Themes
Mandalorianknight replied to Harkonen's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I've always been interested in cryptids, they're conspiracies more spooky and fun than some of the more depressing (albeit more realistic) stuff. A figure based on something like mothman or the jersey devil would be amazing! Maybe to lego-fy it the focus could be on catching them for study. -

I think you might be right in that there are some people complaining with legitimate complaints, and other complaining just to complain like always. (I would add that the IT-S seems to have a fair amount of space.) I totally agree about the new AT-AT, it perfectly balances stability, space, detail, etc. Only problem is the price... You might be right, but that quote was in response to the interviewer pointing out that fallen order's rating isn't any worse than revenge of the sith, alongside the other designer talking about how violent games can be (seriously, fallen order wasn't even as violent as TROS, much less ROTS), leading me to believe that his statement was against fallen order sets showing up. I agree there's a reason there that they don't want to tell us. I'm not 100% sure it's related to nintendo as other video game sets have come out in that time/are coming out soon, but I honestly can't think of any other reason they wouldn't want to say. -

Some lego designers actively said they wouldn't make sets in a recent interview. The reason they gave was garbage, too. They said it was too mature and the interviewer said it wasn't any worse than some of the star wars films, so the designers basically said that since the characters are from a game, they could show up in something r-rated in the future. Which doesn't make any sense, you could say the same thing about any character from the films. -

That's great! I'm getting some of these for my family. The set that shall not be named? Lots of lego's recent decisions have baffled me. Those weird designer interviews, pricing for some sets that are insane even by lego's recent standards, and now this, if correct. I have a bad feeling about this... -

Unpopular Opinions related to Lego Star Wars
Mandalorianknight replied to TheAbsoluteSt81's topic in LEGO Star Wars
1 and 2: agreed, although microfighters have some use for pilot figures. (I feel like pilot battle packs wouldn't sell well, hence the chibi ships instead.) 3: I have to disagree here, I prefer it vastly when creatures are made using existing bricks, unless it can't be done with any degree of accuracy at the smaller scale. So while I get why we have molded tantauns, I hate the molded dewback because it could be made pretty well with bricks, and is instead just a giant specialized part, which doesn't feel very lego to me. 4: This would bug me too, except the lego seat piece doesn't really look much like the seating for most vehicles in star wars compared to some of the brick-built solutions. I don't remember if they ever go into it in the novel, but I think they kept their dress uniforms from their previous rank/job (Iden as a TIE pilot, hask as an officer, Seyn as an ISB agent, Del as an engineer), so I think you're right in that the outfit you chose would be the most accurate, at least from existing ones. Nice conveyex interior MOC, by the way, I remember when I first saw that MOC I was impressed by how "alive" you made the scenes inside the cars. We totally need a rebel iden, too.- 127 replies

Hammerhead Corvette "Lightmaker" UCS MOC
Mandalorianknight replied to azanderk's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The physical build was impressive enough, but the changes like the landing gear improve it vastly. This is one of the best MOCs of any capital ship I've ever seen. I agree about stud.io too, it's similar enough to CAD programs that it's easy to understand. -

That would be cool. They wouldn't have to worry about it fitting a minifigure and could focus on getting the proportions exact, and it would also mean that x-wings wouldn't have to go for $90 (Not that they should anyway...). A midi-scale fleet series of capital ships with micro scale starfighters could be cool too.- 127 replies

That's a pretty good design. I wish LEGO would make these, they could easily be half the price of the 2020 set or less. That said, it's impressive your model is smaller but still more detailed than the lego model in some ways. Have you built this in real life, if so how's the stability?

Same here. I think it looks pretty good for the most part, but the mouth is super off to me, makes him look like a gremlin. I'm not a huge fan of the eyes, either, though I can't tell if it's a print or just something they edited on for the box art. At least it's not ketamine-addicted yoda like last year. -

Yeah, it's hilarious! If I don't get the game (and it does look much better than I expected, I don't remember lego games having FPS elements), I'll have to bricklink the figure. IMO it's a great choice, it's something on-brand with their humor and a good figure, but not something that people would be upset is exclusive to a game. -
$5 shipping? To Antartica? I'd go for the 2014 snowspeeder, there have been very few changes between that and the 20th one. @Csaba's suggestion should work too, especially since you said you were planning on putting the assault on hoth stickers on it, which means you don't need to get the 20th set's stickers.

Nearly impossible in america, from other posts on this forum it's supposed to be pretty tough in most of europe too. Picked up one bespin duel from target since they sold out on the lego website. I'm going to try and get another copy. -

What's up with the republic "open circle" fleet symbol on the lego resistance A-wing? -
From what I can see, a figure would be able to stand leaning over the handlebars, but you might have to remove the hands.

Unpopular Opinions related to Lego Star Wars
Mandalorianknight replied to TheAbsoluteSt81's topic in LEGO Star Wars
First off, thank you! I agree with your point on the crawler and defender. The amount of kids reading the dark horse comics or playing empire at war was probably low enough that those sets didn't sell well. The interceptor, on the other hand, feels iconic enough, they should make it. It'll definitely be one of my next MOCS, at least. Sorry, I meant system-scale. The interview was very recent, but their points were along the lines that, as @TeddytheSpoon says, it would be pretty expensive, as well as a lack of play features. (I dispute the latter point of the designers, the bomber has at minimum 3 different weapon play features you could make.- 127 replies
