True that! This will also be a fun one! -

Hmm so PF/PU maybe. And also Buwizz3 or third party software for controlling it. Also there are autonomous cars, trucks, tractors, heavy machinery, ... so it's very broad :-P We have to slowly convince Jim to get him intrigued ;-) -
Generic Contest Discussion

As we did a smaller one just now, it's time for bigger builds :-) Even if TC21 was specifically with electric components, a contest with PU-components could help boost this a little bit, maybe also help to understand Control+ app or other apps? How about "Build an 'autonomous' vehicle of the future with PU components". Meaning a driverless (no cab or at least no driver spot needed) vehicle, not necesserily equipped with sensors. At least driving and steering had to be implemented. Other functions are possible. No parts limit. -
Do you really think you need suspension here? I doubt this will be an outdoor-vehicle and it's hard guess the right spring usage here... I would recommend you skip suspension completely and make a stiff chassis instead.

[MOC] Mecalac 12MTX - Finished
Jundis replied to Jundis's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi guys, finally found some free time to continue this build. Thanks to @Thirdwigg I fit in the oscillating arm. Now only the cabin is left to do. Right now, only this transparent seem to fit, but I can't put transparent pieces on the door... still tinkering... :D What do you guys think about: Transparent pieces yay or ney? Here is the current state. The shapes couldn't be made by technic pieces, so I try my first steps with system bricks: -

Why shouldn't they continue? :D Contests are real vital point for this forum I think. For once, some people just register or getting active because of a contest. And there are some of the best MOCs are created just because this theme exist. Really looking forward to many many years of great contests :-) Had a little idea, just because the TC22 contest just catched up with the year: How about 2 contests every year: The big TC: - during summer - more challenging and/or bigger builts - has a longer duration (8 weeks) The small TC: - turn of the year (dec-jan) - broader field, maybe little builds - duration of only 4 weeks We already have this kind of pattern, as mostly after a big contest, a smaller followed and vice versa. -
Thanks so much for hosting this contest @Jim & @Milan! Well deserved wins and brillant entries all around :-) Even though this contest just ended, I am already looking forward to new ones. The contests in my opinion are a highlight on this forum, as they show, what creativity on a specific matter and time can spawn!

42144 - mods and upgrades
Jundis replied to suffocation's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nice start @suffocation ! I'll buy this one when it's at a decent discount (< 90 €) but will surely change the base structure. I think it doesnt' need a fake engine, but 4 wheel steering and other tires: -

Jundis replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
But looks and function can go together really well, for example the 42082 looked superd. Bigger scale, I know. Still, this one seemed rushed, at least the whole lower section. -

Dito. But sadly a missed oportunity for dual 49.5 x 14 tires... -
Baja Truck
Jundis replied to Lox Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I can second almost everything @gyenesvi said here, including the last part about the frontpaging... sadly it seems just about looks, but not about function... @Lox Lego Do you have a little more insight about the technic aspect? So just the bare chassis without the shiny cover? :-) -

With 3...5 I'll be happy, but I think 1 and 2 could be just one motor. Should have angle control though, and be able to couple easily with a big linear actuator AND also a pneumatic valve.- 5,507 replies

42144 - Material Handler
Jundis replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hmm not quite happy with this one... it seems too skinny because of the undercarriage. I'd hoped for double tire config with the small 49.5 wheels, which could greatly improve the look. Also I had high hopes for the use of the new curved gear racks for stabilizing the turntable. Seems very wobbly in this scale... At least we have now a decent colour for the big pneumatics. Also the mechanism for activating the grabblers look cool. For 70€, this would be a good parts pack, but 100€ it's too much for this. -
[TC22] Tracked dumper on the Mars
Jundis replied to Ctan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This thing is an absolut blast of a MOC! Can't mention all the details here and there, because there are so much! Are the single axle connectors with a C-clamp original? I've never seen them ... Edit: I now wish for a TC about the theme "Make a MOC of a vehicle from the future" -

Completely overlooked this one, what a cool machine! The outriggers driven by one wormgear are a genius idea :D -

Looking at this pic: Does the newer yellow gears even mesh with older ones (speaking of the gears module)? Or do we get another specialized one like the knob gears?- 5,507 replies

[TC22] Lime grader
Jundis replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@Jurss: Brilliant functionality in such a tight space! :-) For the cab: I think for a really big grader it is ok, but for this model it seems too small indeed. Have you some cubic studs left? ;-)
