  1. Exactly my thoughts! The other contestents seem to have a silent agreement on the wheel size of 18 mm :DD
  2. The looks are perfect. The angles match so well with the original, great work! *troll-mode-on* No way to sneak in a 4 speed gearbox?
  3. The routing of pneumatic hoses, even in medium-sized models are really hard. Wish you the best! I wish Lego would introduce a 90° angled piece with one female end to fit the connection of the cylinders and on male end to go into the hoses. This would really help here, too.
  4. THIS! Still unsure about the lenght of the boom pieces, but it should be rather easy to mod, just like the 42042 had already another assembly of a boom piece coming with it. I am sure Markus Kossmann did expect the moccers do try out the real possibility of this set. The non-lego brands have some really big cranes in store, but I highly doubt their stability will be this good. But one negativ point you are missing is the scale of the set considering the original crane: The whole base is just off in scale. Either the cabin has to be smaller or the whole crane to be bigger. It's more in scale with the LR1400, which has "just" 400t instead of 3000t.
  5. Really cool progress! The side-by-side pic is nice for showing the right scaling :-)
  6. Thanks, Kyle! I'll try, although for the car transport attachment, I need a lot more beams and for the other two crane arm I may need 2 big cylinders... hmm... Thanks guys! Here is some progress, first parts already arrived. I really don't like the black side panels... have to try with red smaller ones on the weekend.
  7. The mechanism and reach will be challenging with the small LAs. I did it a while ago with a Liebherr L518 stereo loader, and I really struggled :D Looking forward to this, too!
  8. What I find strange is the lack of a truck in the size of 42128 for two years, lets hope for 2024 :-)
  9. Here again we have an indications that the price per piece isn't what TLG is calculating but more the price by weight. The additional weights seem to impact the price very much :D The price is really a joke. The 42100 had 1 additional motor and was 2/3 of the price.... :DDDD
  10. Yes please! But in this size, the medium LAs would be used, the 2x11 pneumatics would maybe be too big?
  11. Relatively speaking yes, but in absolute numbers no. From 18 sets in 2023, there are 7 sets which are not cars or bikes: https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Technic/year-2023 I didn't check all years, but I think this is the average number of "true" technic sets per year, for example in 2015 we also had 7 non-fast-things out of a total of 13 sets. And we have really good thing going: The color mismatch is slowly decreasing, for example in the upcoming 42160.
  12. Great review! This really is a nice parts pack with a discount. The wheel + hubs are such a welcoming treat :-)
  13. Looks more like something @SaperPL would do :D Curious to see if you can fit all functions in there, but great set selection!
  14. Oh this idea is soooo cool! Hopefully this technic will work :-)
  15. From the looks, it's great. But without a function it's rather strange... sure there is not enough space for collective pitch? Small turntable with inner axle should do the job or not?
  16. Hi guys and gals, a set I always saw and adored but never owned is the 8436 truck with multiple attachments. In combination with the glorious 62.4 tires from the Arocs set (which will be represented by the 43.2 narrow tires for this TC), this will be my choice for the shrinking contest. For now, I started with the chassis and light, which is very straight forward: Sadly, the smaller 3x3 tapered panels for the side skirts behind the front wheels aren't available in red .. I'll order them in black , but maybe use the even smaller panels Fake V6 engine is planned and also pneumatics as in the original model. What I am unsure is, if I will do all 3 attachments like the real model or only one of them (maybe the hook or the claw).
  17. Oh finally, thanks @Jim ! :-) This time, I got to make enough free space for participating. So curious about the models we will see soon!
  18. In retrospect, the rather unexpected release of the 42100 in October 2019 showed how it should have been done. I am pretty sure the development time of both models don't differ that much, as the 42100 had the longer LAs and complex PU system.
  19. I think even attaching a wheel to 6 pins will be too hard for kids, 3 pins are really sufficient for any normal application in my opinion. Yes please!
  20. Sry to ask, but did you glue some parts on? How is that slope piece on the front fender attached?
  21. Difference is: The designer gets paid for the job, the customer pays for the model :-P Wait for the connection of the blue support to the long blue tube on the chassis... And try to cramp this in the place without touching the grey 16t gear of the drive shaft ...
  22. The monkey gang is getting nervous @Jim! We better get something to compete with or we are going to start throwing brown bricks at each other :D btw: Hope you had a wonderful vacation and got some time to rest from us bunch
  23. Yeah, stability under force from above could be problematic for my version, but there is a liftarm above to prevent that, I didn't include that in the pic above. And there is plenty of room for any version:
  24. Hmm in my manual everything seemed to connect right ...? For the model, I have kind of mixed feelings: + the main function works really well and has great range & power + the model is bigger than I expected, even I know the wheel size, really feels massive + cool new parts/rare parts or new colors - routing of the pneumatic hoses was just horrible, especially the blue ones for the air support, all were way to long. I think the worst routing so far in any pneumatic model I built - the switches are hard to reach when the arm is fully retracted - the build itself was a bit to straight forward for me, no fance buildings techniques and "whoa this is cool, would have never thought of that solution!"-moments - some connections seem very wobbly and I don't know why the designer did not used a more sturdy method, for example the connection of the front wheels. Left side is Lego, right side would be a more sturdy solution To sum it up: The set didn't quite match my expectation (which were very high I must admit) in terms of building fun and stability, but has great new/rare parts. In contrast the 42158 Mars Rover definetely blew me away more.
