I really hope the two remaining minifigure slots don't go to R2-D2 and C-3PO. Ponda Baba and Wuher would be ideal!

Gosh, this development is absolutely heartbreaking if true. As things stand now, the LOTR line seems.....incomplete. There is still so much potential, and to leave out such characters as Faramir, Eowyn, Gondorian soldiers and the Witchking (as deskp mentioned above) would be such a shame. Still hoping against hope that the line will continue.

Yes! More X-Men sets!! I really hope there's a D2C Marvel set being planned for this year too.

^ The TRU exclusive Battle of Hoth set was released in 2013, actually. So there really is no good reason to release yet another Snowspeeder.

It sounds to me like all of the sets are based on the series. I could be wrong , though.

Wow!!! A set list and preliminary pics in the same day!! Definitely didn't expect that as a New Year's surprise. I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed with the Cantina. It's been my most-wanted set for years, and it just isn't what it could have been. I really wish the landspeeder was left out in favor of expanding the build and/or including more minifigs. I'm holding out hope that one of the Squidward headed prelims is Ponda Boba, but I doubt it.

I have to say that the more I think about it, the more I'm a bit concerned about the price point of the cantina. At $70, we're most likely looking at 6-7 minifigures. Wuher, Greedo, and a Modal Nodes band member are absolutely necessary. And as much as I'd love to see some other iconic characters represented (Momaw Nadon, Kabe, BoShek, Muftak, etc.), my feeling tells me the remaining three spots will be filled by a regular lineup (likely a mix of Han, Chewie, sandtrooper, Luke, Ben, etc.). But who knows - maybe the May the 4th figure this year will be a Cantina one, or we'll get an add-on set at some point. Either way, I'm eagerly looking forward to this set the most!

As far as major OT locations go, yes. I'd also LOVE to see Dagobah revisited.

I wasn't much of a fan of that, to be honest. It was a little too blatant and in-your-face to me. "Hey look! Remember this cameo from Lord of the Rings? Here it is again!" The Colbert cameo, on the other hand, is very cool. I didn't even notice it was him after two viewings; that whole sequence was quite clever and well executed.

Ugh...another Snowspeeder?? Why?! But Mos Eisley Cantina!!!! Can't wait for it!! I really hope it's a decent size, though. That piece count has me a bit concerned.

Also, when 10237 was released, it was a best seller on S@H for nearly two months here in the U.S. Gotta think that counts for something...

Picked up a second LOTR Pirate Ship Ambush set.

I just hold out hope that Lego keeps a pulse on fan opinion like this. If the theme is indeed ending, then a D2C Minas Tirith set would satisfy a lot of fans and help mitigate a lot of ill will should the LOTR theme come to an unfortunate and premature end.

All of the Target stores in my area are completely sold out of Middle-earth sets, Hobbit and LOTR alike. I guess they were popular items for Christmas.

^ I think 'fairly well' is an understatement, especially if such a set contained a good amount if unique/exclusive minifigures. The cantina is one of the most requested sets, right alongside Cloud City.

Oooooooh!!! Thanks for sharing, Spyderlord!! A new Dewback is very high on my list of most-wanted Lego SW items. And if we're looking at a potential Chalmun's Cantina set (hopefully done right this time!), then all the better.

Is there no way at all to find out how the LOTR theme is doing and/or if a 3rd wave is coming? It just seems odd that for a company so invested in its fan community, we haven't heard anything about how the theme is doing holistically by now. (And by 'holistically', I mean the LOTR and Hobbit sets as a whole)
