  1. Yep, it's all about generating brand awareness. At the end of the day, if an audience walks out of a theater remembering that IHOP showed up in the film, it'll be much more effective than certain other methods of advertising. Soliciting sponsorship has also become a critical method for large-budget films to supplement their budgets.
  2. ^ It was a tongue-in-cheek reference to some of the ridiculously blatant product placements in Man of Steel.
  3. The official release date isn't until August 1.
  4. I completely agree. The remakes look fantastic, but I was honestly looking forward to the possibility of sets like Dex's Diner, the Outlander Club, or Kamino. I'm pretty convinced now that we'll never see a Taun We minifigure.
  5. I've been happy to see that early reviews for The Wolverine have been pretty positive! I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it this weekend.
  6. It makes sense that he's around, sure. But I'll have to wait and see how much they overuse the character before casting a final judgment. The filmmakers are well aware of Legolas's popularity, and I'm a little afraid of them milking that for all it's worth.
  7. Dex would require more than just a simple repaint, though. He's much more portly than Krell, and wears different clothing. But the basic head mold could probably stay the same...
  8. Alcarin, your views about a Minas Tirith set seem increasingly illogical. You should be grateful if Lego makes a Minas Tirith set period; at least you'd have something to go off of in order to MOC it to your heart's content. We can't expect every official Lego model to be exactly the scale and size that we want it to be.
  9. Snyder's "CGI magic" is what nearly ruined Man of Steel in my eyes. The final battle scene was far too drawn out and over-the-top; this isn't just my opinion, either - I heard it from a lot of the people who left the theater slightly disappointed. That said, I have high hopes for the Batman/Superman film. Let's hope they cast the right Bruce Wayne (*ahem* not JGL, aka John Blake), and that Snyder has learned a thing or two after doing MoS.
  10. Hm.....another remake. However, I didn't get the first version, so I'll definitely be picking this one up. The minifigs look fantastic, too! I would love to see more locations/scenes as sets, though.
  11. YES!!! Can't wait to see what the new set reveal will be.
  12. That misprinted flux capacitor is just......ugh.....
  13. Perhaps it's because that minifig was technically the "exclusive" last year.
  14. ^ Really? Is that all that it takes to qualify as "original" these days??
  15. This is actually a perfect convention exclusive. Neat item for people who go, but not the end of the world for those that don't.
  16. Now that is an example of a good convention exclusive!!! The exclusive Superheroes minifigs, on the other hand.....
  17. As much as I love Star Wars (Lord of the Rings comes second ), I have to say that Saruman would absolutely win.
  18. Steve Jobs, by Walter Isaacson.
  19. Pacific Rim! An amazingly fun and entertaining film -- go see it!
  20. ^ It's been officially announced on USA Today. It's a real set.
  21. Finally, the Flash!!! Really looking forward to seeing more pics in a few days.
  22. There are a few things that I don't understand here: 1. Yes, Lego obviously did receive the license to produce TMNT. Viacom now owns the TMNT franchise in its entirety, so whether TLG got the license from 'Nick Toons' doesn't really matter anyway. 2. If it is a one-off theme, as you say, then there won't be random sets released here and there. That's not what a one-off theme is.
  23. After seeing the film this weekend (which was great! Very undeserving of the venom from critics), I've suddenly become much more interested in this theme. I'll be looking for some steep sales before I buy, but I'm hoping to get the whole line.
  24. TheLegoDr actually brings up a great point, as far as current content from DC and Marvel go. I think that a more fair split would be something like 8 Marvel and 4 DC sets (and even that is pushing it, since DC has no new films announced).
  25. Great Scott!! Thanks for the his-res pics, GRogall! I hope this is available for order here in the U.S. soon.
