  1. Ikiru (to live) by Akira Kurosawa The film's about a Tokyo bureaucrat who has wasted all his life working in the same dust pit for 30 years. When he hears he has stomach cancer he becomes semi-depressed and wants to dedicate what little time he has left (6 months) to something useful. A group of overstressed house women happens to have filed a request for a play ground in the endless bureaucratic maze he calls "his job". Contrary to supreme paperwork culture he decides to do everything in his power to give them what they want. Even if that (Lord behold) means by-passing all sorts of offices, people etc. I have to admit that so far Kurosawa hasn't ceased to amaze blow me away with his films. Pure masterpieces. The simple fact that a 16 year old (that 1991 child would be me) can fall in love with black and white movies made in 1952 and beyond proves that anybody can like them. In the beginning I felt the movie was a bit of a cliche but that's only because of all the directors who copied so much from Kurosawa. He was one of those men who laid the foundations for modern cinema. No wonder that what you see in his movies looks and sounds so familiar. I highly recommend it to all ages *y* *y* *wub* *y*
  2. Since I got really frustrated about my first sigfig I've decided to chuck him out of the window (not literally of course) and resort to a more natural, simpler alternative. As a lot of people know about my passion for sharks now, I've simply gone for the plain old shark. Simple but effective and ruthless. :-$ :-P It's the one I feel good with the most ^^
  3. Since I got really frustrated about my non-original sigfig I've decided to abandon it and resort to a more natural, simpler alternative. As a lot of people know about my passion for sharks now I've simply gone for the plain old shark. Simple but effective. :-$ It's the one I feel good with the most ^^
  4. Must have been taken when I was asleep somehow. 8-
  5. Aha, interesting, We must see to it that my dear animals are taken care of X-D HEY! Now where's the fun in that? ;-) Besides, I might have voted something else... Though my avatar, previous conversations and preferences would definitely stand in stark contrast with such a bold statement! :-P Shiny Sharks ON! *y*
  6. Keep it up Captain K. Very good indeed, though that bow wave could still use some improvement. Bye bye now *n* >:-)
  7. I really love what the two of you are doing. I've been fed up with he same boring map, and this is just great! I wonder, could you prehaps also do some coastal maps? like area-specific? For example a map of a bay somewhere near a coastline? or even sandbenches? Just to add some more realism :'-) In any case, keep it up! *y* *y* *y*
  8. Sadly that's true, only one of the five great Typhoon submarines is still in service, and that's just to test new rocket technology. That alone forms a good example of the tragic decay. On the other hand, Russian submarines are just as good an export product as Russian caviar or even vodka. Such a shame seeing all those ships go to waste :-/ Those ships ought to guard the frontier instead of rotting away.
  9. What a revelation, a whole new world awaits me. :-$
  10. It's quite simple, really ships are ocean-going vessels where as boats are merely freshwater vessels that stick to shore (in case they would ever go out on the ocean) Remember that: I get terribly frustrated when people mix up the terms, it's even on wikipedia, boat and ships are different things.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Btw: nice ship mr Tiber, but you've been showing me for some time now ;-)
  11. lonely hamster hu? Ben je Belg of Nederlands? Of misschien geen van beide :-) In ieder geval, welkom op Eurobricks ;-)
  12. Congratulations, you've deprived me of all fun now, I'm depressed :-( If only school would not hand out so many tasks and lessons I'd have time for myself.
  13. Wow, thanks mosana. It's simpeler than I would've expected but that's what adds so much more to this outfit. I can happily use it for my Sovjet captain now why at the same time somebody else might use it for the Indy sets or in the Town theme. Very versatile indeed. Now where's my hat? :-P :-D ... Just kidding, great work. *y* keep it up
  14. Welcome to EB our little weird bricky forums. My god, three years, I was scared off for a day before I gave in to temptation, I couldn't help myself, :-D :-D I'm only 16 now but people have accepted me (or at least make it seem that way 8-| :-P ) Leuven huh? I live in Antwerp, as does Errorist (a fellow EB member who's coincidentally my brother. ;-) May ye have a fun time here!
  15. Welcome to Eurobricks, the place where your naughtiest brick dreams come true. ! :-) You'll love it here, everybody's weird I've just read your topic in the Lego town forum and am sorry to say I can't help you as I don't own the set. However, if you find yourself looking for instructions and the like in the near future I highly recommend http://www.hccamsterdam.nl/brickfactory/ They don't have all, but certainly a lot of scanned building instructions. BTW I got a bit confused by the martial status thing. I take you mean marital? :-D
  16. Didd Captin Crunch?
  17. Why I love the iedea and think they look beautiful, however don't you think your maps are a bit TOO accurate for the time? I've read a very detailed book about cartography throughout the ages and it's a well known fact that until the 20th century maps had many inaccuracies in them. On the other hand, such maps would be great on modern vessels (cause of their accuracy) if it were not of the edges which seem cut and worn out. That's just my two cents :-P Keep it up! *y*
  18. Just the flag thank you very much. I'm sorry by the way, I just read now that the last flag was actually going to be one of your last. Don't want to seem inconsiderate. ;-)
  19. He he I know they're not exactly pirate themed flags but could you perhaps make one of the Russian Northern Fleet X-D Luckily the design is really simple ;-)
  20. No, but he may find me 8-| On second thought, if he were to cross the border into a certain not specified country with windmills he might encounter you though.
  21. I am as of yet still working on my entry as I want it to be something decent of ourse. I wouldn't go about posting a hideous entry, now would I? :-D Lol, all pretentiousness aside now Pietje, your link isn't working for me either.
  22. May I say what a beauty cap'n Green Hair 8-
  23. Hello all you nice decal makers out there :-D Would one of you all please make a Russian navy uniform for officers? In the link included there are four columns of uniforms, only mind the left two as they're the officer ones. The right are the ones for lower ranks. I like the bottom four most, though by all means, you can make any of them except for the white one. Globalsecurity.org - Russian Navy Uniforms and oh yes, before I forget ... PLEASE!? (Hinckley seems adamant when it comes to that :-P )
