B-OV-3A The title is kinda misleading as, so far, there's only one MOC in here. However I plan to keep adding my digitally created town MOCs here as I continue to get better :-$ X-D Sadly I don't have a town, and judging by my ambitions, probably will never have enough money to build the city I truly want. In any case, that hasn't stopped me from designing my very own landmark! Inspired by Sirnadroj's wonderfully simple clock idea I came up with this clock tower :-) As always, comments and (constructive) criticism are appreciated

Wow, I'd love to have a cup of coffee ship like that ;-) Careful now on the cannibals, they look hungry and appaled. Is one of them eating an arm? 8-

VOTE OFF for the Pimp your IMTP ship contest
Opproperaar replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
I voted Bonaparte because it's the most original one of the two. It hasn't been done before and the result is worth being noticed.further he manages to make it look very good with ample decoration. X-D Benk's entry just doesn't look right to me. Seeing how it's the pirate's theme I consider it to be a down-sized BSB. The stern doesn't look natural for a small ship that size. Too big. :-/ On the other hand, he did sure manage to downsize a stern and still decorate it very nicely. I believe a stern cabin like that would fit right at home on the smaller standard hull type! Just not on a 6 wide hull :-$ -
Happy B-day! :-) Happy hunting ;-)

I'm sorry if there's already a topic about this, I searched but couldn't find any. In case there is one, could you give me the link and please close this one? I was wondering, when building a city (even though I don't yet have one) you no doubt have thought about elevating it one time or another to allow for a modern metro, tunnels or simply hills. But what's the most practical way of actually raising your town to allow for height differences? *wacko* My first guess would be to place boxes underneath the plates of many different sizes and heights. And just use lego to cover the transition between two different height boxes. Or use many boxes of the same height in case you want tunnels or a metro. What are your suggestions/ideas?

Geeh, though I've seen many, many movies at the tnder age of 16 the two that stand out most and the best are without a doubt - Shichinin no Samurai (The Seven Samurai) by Akira Kurosawa, - Letters from Iwo Jima by Clint Eastwood, - Tora Tora Tora by Richard Fleiser, Akira Kurosawa and Kinji Fukasaku - Master and Commander by Peter Weir It is probably no coincidence three of those star Japanese people. :-D :-P I do not hide my affinity for the country and the people despite what some might say or think. Though I really can't choose between those four movies 8-| . As for the worst, well I have to hand it to Michael Bay, he succeeded where I thought no man could go further! Here I thought Titanic was the lowest human film history could get until I saw Pearl Harbor. That man somehow managed to push the envelope even further. The only thing those movies are good for is for taking the mick out of them. They suck for too many reasons to name! *sing*

Yeah, LDD, despite all its short comings really provides an easy way of cheap designing. :-) So I was a bit bored today and started thinking about a "shopping street" my future city would one day need. So I made this. Again, comments/criticism are welcome. ;-)

I got chambered for posting a picture I, at the time, felt was hilarious and was intended as a laugh but was misinterpreted as 'rascistic and pervers'. In hindsight it was better if I had left it all the same. :-| I am happy for being given a second chance, :-) Suffice to say I shall not say what picture ;-)

Well, as one of my dreams would be the creation of my very own realistic town with all commodities I've taken my first step towards it by experimenting a bit in LDD. I wanted to create a modular cc style rip-off :-P . I think it worked out well for my very first try, the building itself was actually largely inspired by one of Hinckley's own creations too. :-$ I hope you don't mind :-) X-D Any suggestions/comments are welcome, and yeah I know the roof would look a lot better with a window or two, I just haven't figured out yet :-$

Though this is one of my only comments in the interviews I have read them all nonetheless and I greatly enjoy them. *y* *y* Keep up the interviews Ooh, I've spotted a Consitution that has progressed since last time :-D *pirate*

You mean like this one I made some time ago? ;-) The bow? the stern? Why Like I made the last one my friend. Only bigger and better X-D that technique allows me to make sterns and bows any way I want, smoothly without studs. I have decided to change the sub I'm mdeling it on. Instead of the Shuka-B I'm going to use the yet to be launched Severodvinsk class, type 885. Which in reality is quite a capable succesor of the Shuka-B and partly based on it. So I don't need to change that much altogether. In case you hadn't yet noticed, I like Russian subs :-D

Yup, indeed To me the spirit of lego is to see how well you can combine those interlocking bricks and see what you end up with, to see just how well you are of a builder and have fun doing so. The brand doesn't matter, the toy does. :-/ So yes, I buy, use and most definitely enjoy Megabloks, as well as blending it in with lego. Their pro-builder series has lots of potential as far as I'm concerned. :-D :-D Hahaha, that makes two of us ;-) Anybody else willing to join in? X-D

@Phred, I concur - fantastic ship X-D Headrails, perhaps? ;-) *y*

How Well Do You Like the Ninja Theme?
Opproperaar replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I remember going through the LEGO catalogue and viewing the wonderful Ninja sets. I can still feel the desire to one day build a ninja fortress or buddhist/shinto temple. Those who like the town theme could then again use it as an expansion for their own China-town which every self-respecting city deserves. You could even use it in the pirates line. The Dutch VOC traders in Japan for example. Or the English tea/opium trade with China. Overall a very flexible theme with wonderful sets, minifigs and weapons. *y* However, because I've sadly never owned any of the sets :-( I can't actually verdict the theme based on actual physical experience. When the theme came out I was too caught up with other themes (all of them quite expensive) to really see the potential of this theme. That's why I've been careful and gave it a 4, just in case (though I highly doubt it) I would one day own a set and dislike it. -
Based on the Russian Shuka-B class submarine (NATO codename Akula) I present a Lego look a like still in progress. ;-) Ok, so it hasn't exactly worked out yet, but it's still far from finished. Concerning the giant holes in the hull, they're there not only for the sheer convenience of having to place less bricks, but also to prevent LDD from crashing because this thing will be 250 studs long when finished! (it's 150 now) Any suggestions so far?

Hello and welcome to EB! If you would have any pirate creations (or other) I would sure like to see them. I've always loved reading the RedBeard comic books. I didn't even know Kurosawa had a movie called that.

Hairy Ruben Defence Industries Presents Another Wip
Opproperaar replied to Opproperaar's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well for one thing, there's the stern - it looks good from above but not from the side and the end is quite improvised here on this model. The bow still has two studs I can't possibly remove with all the puzzling combinations in my head and I want it to be completely smooth. The bow rudders are very improvised at the moment as are the rudders at the back. And though it is not yet my biggest concern the inside look of the fin is quite dull, empty and hideous. All these things I will systematically improve on with my next to BIGGER models ;-) before moving on the designing the one I want. :-$ However, in a year time I may re-design this boat. :-P -
Most certainly yes. Though I feel very sorry for the EF fans, if this means (who knows) pirates might come back I'm all in favour of TLC's decision. I was largely indifferent to it anyways, only interesting thing about the entire theme were the hairpieces, in spite of my indifference to manga.

I am working on it, in my quest to build my ultimate dream-submarine (hey that rhimes) I'll probably try and design another two subs. ;-) X-D

Opproperaar replied to Opproperaar's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That's the last update for this sub. I'm not gonna bother finishing it for several reasosn though the main reason is because I feel a bit tired of this design. I've learned so much, but have also made mistakes, there's plenty of room for continued improvements and when I finally do build a submarine I want it to be bigger than this one. *sad* That's why I'm gonna take a break of about a week or two and start over in LDD with a new submarine project. Just like with my brother's frigate project I figure I'll have enough LDD experience after two or three creations to finally design something I DO want to order via bricklink. *sweet* X-D -
What book are you reading right now?
Opproperaar replied to Norrington's topic in Culture & Multimedia
'L'inspecteur mourra seul' - it's for French class X-D Perhaps because I can actually comprehend 75% of this 250 page booklet I can't say I'm very impressed by it. It isn't a bad book either but for a detective novel, the writer easily resorts to clich -
Phred, you could try your hand at building a Halo Marathon class cruiser starship for the EN ;-) How many studs is 1,500 metres in Lego scale? 8-| Marathon class

Worthy indeed, I've looked at the entire gallery and the level of detail stuns me, from the skeleton and the rich veins deep beneath the ground to the underground lake and the slaves being punished. I wonder how many bricks he used for the tunnels. The rock facade is very well built too. He uses simple yet clever building techniques, for example the chairs he uses in the horse cart. Brilliant when you see how good they fit in! *wub* *wub* A crafty builder for sure,

Ooh, I know the answer, pick me! Pick me! Pick me! X-D Captain Green Hair! What shameless self-promotion :-D

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh I found it quite hilarious :'-) :'-) :'-) I was wondering what you would come up with for the new one *y* *y*
