IMO, the ship is 17th century. My opinion based on the lateen sail, the bow and stern and general look of her. Definitely not a ship from trafalgar though. I know that for sure!! :-D :-P Such old rigging and shape, she'd've been blasted to bits!

My favorite was Skippy the bush kangooroo. I'm sorry, it would probably seem like childish to you people but remember I was born in '91! :-D Would die to see that show once more though. Why did they cancel it. Had so much fun as kid watching that. By the way, I love th plane, looks like a really neat little accessory, and I agree, they should bring out a passenger oplane like this. Ah well, thanks to the joys and basic design idea of LEGO, we can always build them ourselves.

The person above me verily weeps and cries over sorrows not necessarily his. 'T is sad true but not as much ours as his problem. One day a shiny light will eventually peep over the shadows of the dark valley which most of us so bravely passed and some yet have to. And on that day we shall once again be able to rejoice at the sight of yet another lost sheep, bewildered as it may, found back in the darkness after long, hardship.

Why not? Government-operated tourist attractions bring in money for the government. Besides, there's a bit more to it than that. That ship ought to've been saved cause of its historical value. As a reminder of the age of sail. As a symbol of national pride. And if nothing else, the thought that the ship is worth millions being one of the last survivors of its era ought to be enough to save it. Reasos enough to preserve such ships for generations to come.

Cause they couldn't keep it, the war made several European states go near bankrupcy. The Victory herself was very expensive to maintain and keep let alone a second sailing vessel. They tried to get rid of it by selling to France again, but they declined. Though instead of scuttling they could have at least asked other nations who did not suffer as much to buy the ship. It would've certainly made a lovely tourist attraction. :-(

? I don't understand, Duguay Trouin was simply how the ship was named in the French navy, after she was captured by the English, they renamed her Implacable. Perhaps I didn't point this out enough :-$ Still, it remains a disgrace and would like to hear from all you history, LEGO, Ship freaks what you think. How could something like that happen. Of course we need to take intoaccount the fact that England was bankrupt but still, there must've been a different solution, perhaps sell it to yet another nation not damaged by war. Perhaps Sweden or the US. You never know and any excuse is good enough to save such a treasure! I just don't get how those sailors and how that captain was able to execute such an order. If British sailors claim they didn't like a ship such as the Bismarck to go down, then surely, one's heart must break when this happens.

No just thought that by putting in both names I might attract more people to the topic, which I think certainly is worth of being noticed.

I really didn't know where to put this so if it's in the wrong place could an admin please move it? Since it's about a ship, though not a LEGO one and it doesn't really have anything to do with LEGO I figured this was the best place to put it. I wanted to share this story with you people as I'm pretty sure most of us don't know about it. We play with LEGO Pirates because we like LEGO, but perhaps, at least it would seem that way to me, most people here prefer that theme cause they love history and they love the beauty and the glory of the age of sail. My dad told it to me about a year ago and I was talking to Captain Green Hair about it yesterday. I'm talking about the Duguay Trouin. Bear with me cause the story isn't too long but certainly sad. She was a 74 gun ship of the line in the French navy and was built between 1796 and 1800 based on plans by an engineer called Rolland. On the 21st of October 1805 she participated in the well known battle of Trafalgar, just two weeks later, on the 3rd of November she was attacked by an English squadron at Cape Ortegal. After heavy fighting her commander was killed and the ship was finally taken by Sir Richard Strahan. Commisioned in the Royal Navy as a 3rd rate, she served for the remainder of the Napoleonic Wars, capturing the Russian 74-gun ship of the line Vsevolod in the Baltic in 1808 and fighting Danish gunboats. In 1840 she was at Acre for the bombardment of that city. She remained in service until 1842. She was used as an accommodation ship, a training ship, a holiday ship, and a coal hulk. In 1943 she was renamed Foudroyant. After the second World War, the British decided that her maintenance costed the state way too much (Britain was virtually bankrupt after the war) and subsequently tried to find a way of getting rid of her. They offered her back to the French navy who declined. After all, the ship had only been in French service for 5 years. The rest of her time she had been in British service. So, in spite of heavy protests, the Royal Navy decided to sink her. She was the second oldest ship in the Royal Navy at the time, the only one being older, the HMS Victory. On the 2nd of December, after 149 years of loyal service, she was towed out to sea and scuttled. :-( :-( :'-( :'-( A link to a site in French, the pictures there speak for themselves. What do you people think now that you know of this? Surely nobody here can find it right what has happened back then? I still can't comprehend how an act like that was possible in the 20th century. How it could've been justified. HMS Implacable or the sad end of a seventy-four

Lol, as the matter of fact yes, I was looking at my cupboard in my room the other day, and noticed this model of a locomotive from the 30s, brown with touches of black and some yellow stripes. I noticed the name was Pacific Chapelon Nord, so yeah, my imagination-less brain came up with that, though I do like the name Poo Choo Sounds cute *y* :-$

What was the last movie you watched?

Well first off, I never took a side (in such a debate), only said he would've done a loot for his precious bodily fluids which is exactly what he does in the movie. He orders a nuclear strike and kills himself which I view as pretty extremely devoted to ideals. That doesn't mean I'm a "brat" if you feel like labeling people. Second, now you seem to ask, if being a brat means I disbelieve most conspiracy theories (all of the same category as Rosswel, aliens and global domination by American Jews) because of simple logic and reason, well then yes I am a brat. Though I prefer being critical towards information. (from all sides) I'm not going to argue with you cause I don't wanna piss off the admins and besides, I think this forum is too nice to actually start being hostile over something as menial as this. Therefore, I'll just put it like this, you have an opinion and so do I, they differ and leave it like that, ok? -
I like it a lot, wished I lived near aspectacular landscape, though let me change subject before I start ranting on about that. Lovely idea to set them in real nature, I like the fighting back and pinned down pics so much, especially cause they're laughing through the entire experience which is just too hilarious. :-D :-D

Soviet National Anthem - Russian Red Army Choir yeah I know, probably gonna get a lot of reactions about this, but it just sounds too good, :-D , I can't understand Russian of course, yet the grandiosity of the song, if I were Russian I'd be freaking crying on the floor out of chauvinistic pride, seriously you have to hear it to understand what I'm saying. :-P Best national anthem I've ever heard.

So does this mean that in real life you're a dandy who walks around with a revolver tucked in his pants?

Have a good one, I sure hope you get LEGO, I wish I would :-P

Wow, that must've taken you a long time to build; Now do a minifig scale one. :-P

Now that's a great idea, seriously, the South Pacific, perhaps even the trade routes to Japan and China, you could do an overlap between the samurai/ninja theme and pirates perhaps? that way, today's spoiled youth could have fun while learning a bit at the same time. X-D I'd love such a theme, I'm so sad I didn't collect the Islanders when I had the chance.

Here I am wishing to once live in Canada and you guys live right south of the border :'-( :'-( Not that my homeland is being terrorized by a war and I'm a refugee mind you, :-D Just, the landscape, ah the beautiful landscape, consider yourself lucky to live in a country that has mountains, deserts, tropical areas, swamps, lush forests and canyons. and all the while, what do we get? Nothing but In any case, I'm enjoying this progress thread very much, though I stand by my opinion, I really dislike all the black. *y* :-P

LIBRARY: Pirate Torso/Decal/Sticker Designs
Opproperaar replied to Bonaparte's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I know I might have been a bit lazy, but these torsos, they look awesome and I was wondering exactly how I would go about in printing them and stcking them to my pirates? I have no experience whatsoever with custom stickers. :-( And wouldn't have so much as a clue how to do it. Can somebody please tell me? :-) EDIT : never mind I got it from somebody else, and to the admins, if this post is somehow considered as not belonging here or a stupid question, feel free to delete, my apologies.
