Aha, I knew it all along, ahahahahhahaha, anyways, yeah sure, sorry ;-)

Well sorry if the conversion into the American system turned out bodged, I really am not familiar with that system and I have to admit I did not pay too much attention while calculating, not to say I just looked it up on the internet and copy pasted something without even thinking about what I was doing. ;-) But that little ship on the map is obviously too big. It's intended as decoration, old maps and sea charts always have ships and sea monsters on them for decoration, but if you try to match them to the scale used, you'll notice they're as big as a small country. Obviously decoration :-D :-D I'll make this question just European oriented. Metric oriented. Why can't Americans be simple and calculate with simple metres instead of feet? I never got that. A man's foot length differs from guy to guy but a meter is always constant. How can you use feet? Or maybe it were inches, or perhaps yards? And then somebody's gonna come along and ask whether we're talking modern miles or ancient miles here. :-| And if so (in case that we're talking old miles) we'd be talking land miles or sea miles. Or British or French miles. :-|| Let's just face it, the metric system is the best and will always be the easiest. :-D :-D :-D

Oh crap I just realized a dumb mistake. It says 23 cm instead of 20 cm ;-)

Ok, I need you to calculate a bit, or at least have some imagination in order to provide me with an answer here :) Suppose you have the small Lego 2x2 map for pirates and depict it on an area of 20 by 30 cm (for those who do not use the better, more superior metric system = 9.1 in by 11.8 in respectively) So let's suppose I choose 1cm = 5 km so our map is 100 by 150 km big as opposed to 1cm = 10 km which is a map of 200 by 300 km. (1cm = 3.1 ml => 62.1 ml by 93.2 ml OR 1 cm = 6.2 ml => 124.2 ml by 186.4 ml) Still with me? :S Ok let's ask the five million question: Which one would be better according to you when depicting that small map? Yes, what distances do you think are better with regard to sailing ships? (about half of the map is water) I'm stuck here, I think the first is too small and the second too big, though I'd definitely like a second opinion on the matter. :-/

Well that's a cool army you have there *wub* *wub* *wub* Wish I had that many troops, too bad I don't have that many torsos or hats. 8-o Anyways, if you want to we have a book here displaying the ranks of a British ship of the line (HMS Victory) at around 1800, exactly in the same way you did with your figs. You mentioned you weren't sure how it was in the old days, didn't you?

Foolish LEGO Human Errors You've Made.
Opproperaar replied to ReZourceman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
imperialshadows "You forgot the most important part ... were the bricks ok?" Let's say they were in a better condition than I was. Another lesson I learned is that pets and Lego do not mix. I have four cats and a German Shepherd. The dog we have now doesn't do anything but one of the other ones we had tried to chew on all the Lego bricks, and one of the cats plays with them. Either way, I now have some chewed up Legoredo fortress rifles and for a mysterious reason, (the cat who plays with it in the night) I find lego bricks on the kitchen floor :-| :-|| -
Well I'll be keelhauled

Foolish LEGO Human Errors You've Made.
Opproperaar replied to ReZourceman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well a mistake I made (cause of my own stupidity at times) was to actually sleep for an entire night on Legos. I used to play with Legos in bed, especially the big space base with the Space shuttle :) and one night I played as if a disaster had happened and everything was destroyed. Lego Bricks everywhere and it was already 1 AM so I didn't feel like cleaning it up. So I shoved it all to a side and tried to avoid it 'till the next morning. Unfortunately for me I have the tendency to move around in my sleep. I woke up with my back on the bricks and when I looked in the mirror I had countless little brick shaped indentations in my skin :-D :-D Yep that was one painful, restless night. :-P Furthermore I've stepped on a lot of bricks. Of course barefoot since I dislike shoes so much I always take them off. Very painful indeed. *sweet* *sweet* And as the last mistake I made was trying to seperate bricks with my nails. I will never forget the pain I had to endure for nothing. :'-( Teeth marks, broken nails and for what? Come to think of it, TLC really designed their toys to hurt customers, didn't they? Lego bricks are the toughest toys I know. Literally. :-D I mean you could use it as a torture technique -
I know there's already a topic about Lego commercials but I'd like to point these out in specific. Why? Cause they're so cheesy. :) Couldn't stop laughing :-D :-D :-D Zack the Lego Maniac 2 Lego Maniac I mean, it must've been the 90s but when you look at it now :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D it's so wrong. Don't get me wrong though, I love Lego and I do own some of the sets displayed but somehow, the commercials are so funny ;-)

I don't get it, I like MB for the fact that if your stuck for alot of bricks of the same colour when buildig MB offers the solution. CHEAP!! We bought the KittyHawk aircraft carrier and two destroyers and now we have more than a thousand gray bricks. I just love it. :) I still however prefer using MB on the insides and lego on the outside for the finishing touches. :-D :-D :-D
-
I thought I was the only one. We had a German Shepherd that bit everything it came across. Like the little rifles of the legoredo fortress :-D :-D As far as the cake is concerned, I'd say it's the low budget version for navies that cut in their defence budgets :) Though I'm not sure what'd happen I'm quite sure that a cake ship would crumble upon touching water :-P
-
I don't get what people have against Mega Blocks, it's cheap and some sets really have massive amounts of blocks. Me and my bro (Errorist) bought two MB destroyers and the Kittyhawk aircraft carrier. => Demolish the models and you get massive amounts of cheap gray blocks *sweet* I'll hand you that Lego has a wider assortment of bricks but overall, it serves as a great tool when building and in need of massive amounts of bricks of one colour. :) :) However I still tend to do the insides of a model with MB and do the outside with Lego so you can't see the MB :-D :-D
-
oops there is? hmm I must pay more attention then :S but yeah sure why not? it is about this one in particular (if that keeps me out of trouble) *chukles and grins, laughs to himself Anyway, it's funny, if you look at it now it's so cheesy. Lego MANIAC *warning MANIAC not included

While I was happily (and aimlessly) surfing around on trusted youtube I came across this :-$ : Lego commercial Born in 1991 I do think I'd be able to remember this but since they speak English I don't think it was even on Belgian TV. *sweet*

I need help with a possiblity....
Opproperaar replied to Skateboarder_2_da_max's topic in Forum Information and Help
Well as far as I know no, but then again I only joined these forums half a month ago so... :-/ -
They're actually built with LDD, not MLCAD.
-
Well, I found this thing right here that really is the best ship of the line MOC I've ever seen (so far at least), a cross section, yes a cross section, *sweet* made by Errorist. Errorist' Cross section
-
Well, though they're not the best ships in his inventory, I guess that with some re-modelling they could be quite nice. I find it grossely unfair that nature has gifted my brother with a talent for bricks (referring to the Bonheur and the Cross Section) and not me :'-( X-D X-D Well, even though, I am quite sure that I could build a nice looking small MOC without his help with all the bricks and old pirate sets we have around here. Ain't that right mr Errorist? 8-o Without you helping me *sweet* X-D Call it jealousy :-P Too bad though, and Errorist will have to agree with me here, that our bricks are dirty. They've been all bunched together in these plastic crates for years and several things have taken their toll. They're good, they're useable, they're dirty. :-D Anybody a suggestion for us to 'clean' them?
-
As weird as it sounds to me when I say this, but I know exactly what you mean there. I just love small boats as well. I always stuff them full with all sorts of stuff to make them more 'comfy' X-D X-O
-
WWOWW DUDE. Not only do you have too much time on your hands, but also way too much Lego. How do you afford all those bricks???? X-O X-D
-
Myes, well well well, I can't wait either really. Looks like this is going to get even better than your corvette. I only hope that your plan for sails and ropes etc... will work out well. 8-o :-P Anyways, I'll leave you to it. :-P :-/
-
My God, and then to imagine I saw you create this. It still amazes me, however I still think your cross section is better bro *sweet* 8-o Nonetheless, sweet work!
