  1. Not really, at least I wasn't, You just made such an unusual request we've never heard of before,
  2. I can only refer you to already mentioned sites where they sell what you need in order to help you, however I have my doubts about your intentions. Not meaning to pry or be unpolite but I think you're either a) fooling us or b) have given little thought about what you're asking and as a consequence are not very familiar with the world of lego
  3. Pizza Stand - such a plain lovely little set with many pizza's and even a delivery van! And what's that? A female minifig to boot. Besides, pizza's not only yummy, it contains all necessary daily vitamines, proteines, fats and other essentials ...
  4. An original idea Phred, though I must admit I've been pondering about this question as well with regard to others. As for me, the flag should blow like the wind does for two reasons 1) Realism 2) It looks better that way Besides, as Asuka pointed out, the ideal sailing wind comes from a diagonal angle, slightly more aft than midships (if that is the correct translation, I am not so fluent in translating nautical terms after all ) As in the picture below, all the sails of the ship can thus catch the wind.
  5. That's a very nice set. I'm having my doubts about getting it though still. The overall shape and size of the helicopter remind me of the real-life CH-53 military cargo helicopter. A very nice review. You've got the photography down very well I feel. Perhaps a bit of nitpicking but at the end where you assign a rating, if you do a rating with faces (which is fine by me) you may want to seperate the faces by a line. Otherwise it may become too crowded to the eye.
  6. @captain ads You mean you tried some sort of sidekeels? Of course you'd have to experiment with it, make different sorts of side keels, longer and deeper models for example. Also, all the keel is supposed to do on a lego ship is keep it upright so it doesn't capsize. It'll sink no matter what you do, if it sinks upright however it means the keels work.
  7. *genius* I've been playing with the idea of installing side keels like on modern ocean going vessels. If you notice, both the lego hulls as the modern ship hulls are flat at the bottom. Side keels help remain stable. I have yet to figure out how to install them decently (probably would use hinges for that). In any case I haven't yet found time to try it out. If it works to keep the ship stable though, it works. Then you just need to find how to keep it watertight. Here's a pic of the Wilhelm Gustloff on which you can see one of those side keels If anybody wants to try, feel free ...
  8. Wow, very well done. You did a good job on that second module. All I did was copy your work on the starboard side. You designed it all after all. I can't wait to help the next time
  9. Somehow that's an ideal setting for a 'Jurassic Park' or 'King Kong' theme. I can only have wet dreams about an enlarged MOC like that with a forest, mountain, bigger cave and a sailing ship in the bay. But seriously, really good, the dude falling from the waterfall is simply yet ingenious. The rock formations couldn't be better and the water effect is also very well done. Perhaps some animals would work wonders here.
  10. I thought this topic would've been closed on the 18th but what the hell... My first choice would be Mister Phes. Why? Because he's exactly the kind of politician this pirate state needs! A man with his credentials would make for an excellent representation of the will of us pirate enthusiasts. That being said, he also utilises an astounding vocabulary as well as constructing complicated and intricate scentences on a day to day basis. In short, Vote Mister Phes! You won't regret it. My second choice would be Captain Green Hair. His superb building skills would definitely, amongst other things, inspire TLC. As far as I know he always has time for crazy projects as well which, if he agrees of course, make him a very suitable candidate. Go Flying Dutchman, go!
  11. Scratch the HMS ;-). She's French in the comic book, wonderful vessel. Though I feel the masts are too short given the enormous size. The cabin is nicely decorated though. The overall look reminds me of the French Valmy, the biggest sailing ship ever made.
  12. I always say 'lego'. And I believe anybody who speaks Dutch would for that matter. It just doesn't sound natural if you say 'legos' in Dutch.
  13. I really enjoyed the issue. The only thing I'd have to remark, or better said, I was hoping to see, were some more town scenes in that lovely little modular city you're making. And perhaps it's just my little affection for Akira Kurosawa that has influenced me but I really enjoy rain on the screen as well Here in Antwerp - as far as I know that is - we tend to either put 'kei' in front of a word to make it "very" (literally translated it means small rock). Other times we also say "vet" which literally means "fat" but means really cool in that context. Come to think of it, it always struck me how the internet acronym 'lol' is also a Dutch word for 'fun'. That caused confusion on my part when I first took notice of the term on english forums.
  14. What else ... ?
  15. I know, isn't it fun?
  16. Great job you guys you definitely deserved it. But I wonder if saying you can get promoted by helping is the right thing to say... You don't know if people are genuinly helping because of their love for pirates or because they want a promotion. I can understand your being in need of decent 'employees' to help with everything but if somebody helps just to gain a rank, they're doing the right thing for the wrong reasons IMHO. But if it gets people to help then hey, it works! Just my two cents
  17. I can only wonder what rank on these forums you occupied back then... :-P
  18. Phred, your turtle is amazing *y* No doubt about it! :-P I'd almost encourage you to build the Hunley too! :-D
  19. If you've a cheap bb-gun lying around you don't use anymore I suggest demolishing it. The spring in there is definitely more powerful but probably too large for your cannon. That's the only thing I can really come up with. Have you also used springs from pens and such? Those are probably too weak but I'd give it a shot. :pirate_sad:
  20. HAHAHAHA! That looks hilarious (in a positive way) It reminds me of these cartoons where adults are depicted with adult heads and children's bodies. Very clever and original btw, the hands make the arms look a bit ET like:-P
  21. I somehow (yeah right, somehow?) predcted what was going to happen. As some of you may know, my brother (Errorist) is constructing a large minifig scale sailing frigate which he has already spent countless euros on. The creation isn't anywhere near finished and already it's longer than a metre consisting, as far as I can make a reasonable assessment, of around 3,000 or so bricks. Linky Now, we have four cats and a German Shepherd, a lot of pets you say? Never! :-P One of those cats, being the spoilt little mischevous buggar she is couldn't help rile the other cats up. Reason for all the roccus? One of the future ankercables portruded from a bow hole and was dangling ever so irresistible from the table. The cats couldn't help themselves and proceeded to play with the cable and subsequently demolish the MOC in the making by throwing it off the table. My brother was not pleased :-D And the cat? The little b**** lay sound asleep in the coach, not minding all the commotion she, unbeknowst to her, was the cause of. Another cat was her accomplice X-D
  22. Nice play with perspective. I especially love the woman getting dragged off by a pirate while an Islander drags a pirate off to dinner at the same time! X-D The guy drowning because of the Islander is nicely done as well. It looks mighty fine, and apart from the moustache baby your MOC confronts me with only one question: "Do you in fact hate studs?" :-P
  23. The idea is great, but the details, meh It can definitely be done better. But, and especially the famous pic of the lone Chinese protestor, the idea is very original indeed. *sweet*
  24. I wouldn't say I'm completely defined by the community I live in. I've always preferred living on the edge of society, to take a step backwards and observe rather than get involved. As such I've never felt part of a community, not because I wasn't accepted but simply because I choose to observe from a distance. But that is completely personal, while I don't feel like a Flemish person (and there's a lot to do around being Flemish in Belgian when you hear the far right parties riling the people up) there are many who do. In such a context living on the edge of society has it advantages. It allows to observe more unbiased than if you'd be in the middle of all the action. Anyway, I abide by the rules of the community I live in. I've never done anything to be born here. A stroke of luck, that's it. Nobody chooses where to live and I got lucky. I just abide by these rules because I live here, that's all. Of course on the surface such rules do affect you in some way. Arguably you could say I'm in favor of letting people drink from ages 16 and up because that's the Belgian drinking age. Even so I'd rather say it's because I think in a rational, liberal way than because of that law. For example I live here and still find many laws in this country retarded which aren't so abroad. To make a long story short, in what way, and how deeply a community and its rules affect you is deeply personal. Society does affect me, but for a large part I attribute my thinking to who I am and my character, not society. For you it might be different but I feel my theory, or rather stance, is generaly supported by the fact that one society, with the same rules for all, produces many different kinds of people. One is a fascist, one a liberal, another deeply religious and some socialist. Others are opportunistic and selfish while again others are caring and loving. If society influenced us all in the same way it could hardly be that we differ so much from one another. Something other than community plays a large role which is personality, IMHO.
  25. i'm guessing the background story you provided us is about as historically accurate as can be. *y* X-D Let's *change* history! Question: when he throws the cotton at you, does he still expect payment for it?
