Ideas for a Christmas related scene built CC Style
Opproperaar replied to andy_0306uk's topic in LEGO Town
Well ... Not exactly a building, but I guess you could depict the town square where all the town's citizens (around 100 or so) are doing their best to decorate a gigantic christmas tree. You could put a lot of hilarious details into that one. ;-) for example, at the top of the tree, somebody falls from the ladder, while at the bottom kids are playing, and people drinking while others are chanting. And yet again others madly pursuing somebody for breaking one of the decoration balls. :-) -
MOC 1 for me because - I just love the wizard hat being used as water. - I find the plume sticking out and representing blood a very clever technique indeed. Come to think of it, it's so obvious I'm feeling ashamed I didn't come up with the idea myself. :-) - I find it funny that a (primitive) canninibalistic tribe has its own modern, Western barbeque. :-P - I am fascinated by the the entire topic of cannibalism, I've even read some books on it, and thus I found it hard not to vote for an MOC which takes the islanders and puts them to obvious use. X-D That being said, I still loved the building (anonymous) made, especially the bricks. It makes it feel as an old, run down building I feel which is of course scary. Though as I don't celebrate Halloween and we're mid November now, and since the street in the vig was relatively, well ... not finished (perhaps because you only got to use 75 pieces?) I went for the first entry. A great job nonetheless by both contestants. *y*

Can't wait to see the creations really... 75 pieces wonder what they built with that.
-
Ouch, I take your brother gave you permission before doing so? X-D ...

No, but I do look cute ... :-| I think ... I hope somebody boost my confidence :'-(

I find nothing wrong with it at all, it's just a red coat :-)

No, indeed not, though after the center of trade and commerce began shifting towards London all hell broke loose. Never ending alliances. One time the Dutch versus the French and the English and a moment later France joins up with Holland against the English and another moment later France finds itself against Holland and England. Yup, for all the tough talk of some (not all) Americans I guess we're still the ones who've done the most fighting so far, not that we can be overly proud of that, merely stating the facts. |-/ And rest assured, I'm liberal too. :-P

What was the last movie you watched?
Opproperaar replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I saw all 6 Star Was movies after each other. (though that was last year and not recent) Not recommendable, as much as you love Star Wars, I will never again sit in a dark room watching tv from morning till midnight. :-/ -
Happy Birthday Lord of Pies! A black seas barracuda would certainly make my day. Enjoy, and may many a pie end up in the dephts of your stumach. :-)

I'm confused - Didn't the Dutch kick out the Spanish themselves? Raise a world empire themselves? Fought with the English themselves? Kill a couple of million people themselves? Yup, they can be proud of that. - Though as a Belgian I guess I can't point the finger. Poor negrows in the Congo, they never saw it coming. |-/ Guess every Western European nation has a similar history :-P Everybody's accusing the U.S. of genocide etc. and when we look back at our own history, we can still see we're the ones who excel at killing, wonder why we always forget? X-D

Since you live in Antwerp we could come lend a hand Though we better get to play with your Lego collection :-D Anyway, here's me at the "class-day" in September, courtesy of my teacher :-P It was taken in the pedestrian's tunnel below the river Schelde in Antwerp

Port la Brique - check out the architecture on this one!
Opproperaar replied to gui45's topic in Pirate MOCs
I can't describe how much I like your creation, especially the architecture, keep it up is all I can say really *y* *y* Good to see a French creation as well, all those English ships and ports ... |-/ -
I thought that was normal, seriously, I do it all the time, and after a while I evend tend to play with them in my mouth using my tongue. ... Perhaps I ought to clean my bricks better :-P

Doesnt the type of prize face you with some problems? After all, for example, take LuxorV won, or if somebody built an entire spacevessel full of details (seeing as how everything is allowed as entry) and they won, How are you going to incorporate that in an episode? You'd have to build the entire model based on a couple of pics you got, and it could prove to be quite difficult since people can go all out on this one and come up with stuff you wouldn't have even thought possible. Both in real life as in Lego >:-) So, how are you going to tackle that problem Hinckley? :-)

Why does it say "no jofs dauther is better cause shes a girl" You have no idea how wrong that sounds in my ears, I haven't got a clue how old she is, but just the scentence alone I find quite wrong 8-|

Sounds mighty interesting :-) Can't wait to see what they come up with ...

The apocalypse huh? It is as the prophecy has foretold us. We must now convert and turn away from our sinful ways before the horsemen get to us. It is as was told to us by the prophets yet we refused to listen to common sense and now we must pay for our heathen crimes. But seriously for a sec, without all that bible stuff, how much do you think the entire project will cost you?

Yeah ... There's a difference between cultural heritage and LEGO, I like lego as much as the next man in this forum but not so much I would not open an MISB set. It's LEGO for christ's sake. Only been around for 50 or so years, and Lego Pirates only for 20. I wouldn't see the point trying to preserve it for future generations seeing as 1) it's a toy 2) it isn't exactly cultural world heritage 3) it isn't more than 2000 years old But indeed, white fur tigers ought to run around and play and live as opposed to serving as decoration for some upper-class female canine. :-(
-
Well basically - tips and criticism on how to improve the model - some praise :-P - for the fun of it (I really ought to be building some models, I'll get to it right away after homework :-D )

I tend to agree, let them build something random (which has to be pirate related of course) of a predetermined size within a week and there would be two days of voting. And if not that, one of the two will be queen! :-)

I like *wub* *wub* Though perhaps, the size of the crow's nest seems awefully large in comparison to the width of the mast. Are you sure you got the dimensions right?
