  1. Maybe it's inspired by Christmas pyramids? I don't really like the bright red and green color scheme - it makes this set (and the 2016 train) look tackier than the other Winter Village sets and promos.
  2. Both Ninjago City and Ninjago City Docks seem to be quite popular. Do you think there's a chance that we might get one or more of the settings of this movie as modular-like D2C sets as well?
  3. A lot of Harry Potter minifigure parts that were listed but not available seem to have been removed completely now. I hope that means the remaining ones - for example the new hair pieces that hopefully aren't licensed - will become available soon...
  4. In the official pictures of the new advent calendar it looks like General Merrick has a double-sided head, but neither of his face prints features a visor and chin strap so he can't really be displayed wearing his helmet. Can anyone confirm this?
  5. I'm hoping for a Lotus or two... The Lotus Evora is currently my favorite sports car:
  6. It's nowhere near as bad as Assault on Hoth and certainly not disjointed, but it looks messy and unfinished to me.
  7. A worthy successor to Insult on Hoth: Betrayfail at Cloud City! Edit: How about "Bewildered at Cloud City" or "Betrayed Expectations at Cloud City"?
  8. Looks somewhat unfinished to me, even more so than the Death Star.
  9. I was originally hoping for less bedrock and more castle (astronomy tower, bell towers...), but the set looks great as it is. Especially the Great Hall and Grand Staircase Tower are infinitely better than the ones in 75954. The only thing I don't like at all is the inclusion of microfigures and micro-scale interiors. I'm already thinking about which pieces of furniture to remove or modify to make the rooms suitable for minifigures. But it probably won't be too hard, most of the rooms seem to be just high enough. Definitely an "outstanding" set!
  10. @ curtquarquesso: If you PM me an email address I can send you the LDD file. (I have to admit though, as yet I have no idea how stable this model would be in real life!)
  11. By the way, after building this I realized the scale of the model is pretty close to that of the Saturn V - somewhere between 1:100 and 1:106.
  12. I'm a big fan of the Saturn V and the other NASA spacecraft, but I've been wanting to build one of the Soviet rockets with their distinctive shape for a long time as well. This is a 429-piece, 38 cm model of the famous Vostok rocket in which Yuri Gagarin made the first human spaceflight: Since space-related projects seem to be popular these days I also submitted this on Ideas!
  13. So, I got a reply which states I can only use the national flag as stickers on the model itself (ahem?)... And That I Should Capitalize All Words In The Title. Thus I deleted and resubmitted the project and replaced all the Soviet flags with a simple, similarly colored logo. Let's hope for the best. Edit: There it is. Thanks everyone!
  14. It's called "Vostok 1 - The first manned spaceflight", and it includes a Vostok rocket like this one, a stand, and a Yuri Gagarin minifigure. There's actually a few similar projects already, but I tried to find a better way to build that distinctive shape of the Soviet rockets with their four conical booster rockets. And, well, the images had Soviet Union flags in the top right corner. The images are rendered, I don't think there's any problem with their quality. And while English isn't my first language and the description I wrote is rather short, I couldn't find any obvious spelling errors or anything.
  15. Oh well, if they don't reply I'll just start by replacing the Soviet Union flags with suspiciously similar substitutes and see if that's enough to get it approved.
  16. I was hoping for another Asian city, but these don't sound bad either.
  17. Here's a project that uses the flag of the Soviet Union. Here's another one. The Saturn V project uses the US flag as well, why would it be problematic to use the Soviet flag for a Vostok project?
  18. I did, but according to the automated response they "don’t offer personalized advice about your projects".
  19. My latest project was "deemed to contain inappropriate content", with the rejection message pointing out improper capitalization and third-party images or logos. The only non-Lego image I used is a public domain national flag of the Soviet Union (which is also seen in several other projects, it's not even an object of copyright), and I can't find any spelling errors in my description either. Do you know if there is a way to find out what Lego found to be wrong with a project specifically?
  20. If 10263 is this year's Winter Village set, I wouldn't have expected sets 10267 and 19269 to be released before late 2019 or early 2020. It's unusual for Creator Expert sets to be released completely out of sequence... although the re-released 10256 Taj Mahal seems to be a notable exception, as it was released later than sets 10257, 10258 and 10259. So maybe 10267 and 10269 are re-releases as well which were assigned set numbers before their exact release date was decided?
  21. In the video it says "In November, one of the new elements will appear in an exclusive Creator Expert set."
  22. Since this year's winter village set will apparently be released in September but there's also another Creator Expert set in November that comes with one of the new plant pieces, does that mean we might be getting another re-release towards the end of the year, just like last year's Taj Mahal? Looking at the older Creator Expert sets, there's not a lot of sets that include exactly one type of plant piece that also comes in the new "Plants from plants" set. Green Grocer seems to be the most likely candidate.
  23. The interview with Jamie Berard gives me hope that we might also see an Asian modular building, or maybe even one that's "darker and uglier" like this one, sooner or later:
  24. Honestly, the popularity of this set confuses me. I love the architecture of Hogwarts in the movies, but this is, in my opinion, one of the ugliest Hogwarts sets Lego have ever made. Now, movie accuracy never seems to have been the top priority in the Harry Potter line, but the basic shape of the 2010 version of the Great Hall looked pretty accurate and I really didn't expect them to make such a step backwards now! All the proportions and angles seem to be wrong.* What's more, the hall is too open in the front so the oversized doors are visible, the Chamber of Reception prominently seen in the first movies wasn't depicted at all so the hall looks more like it did in movies 4-8, the Headmaster's Towers are indeed missing as well, the beautiful tall tower on top of the hall was made short and stubby, all the medium nougat bricks make the building look like a gingerbread house, the interiors are unusually boring, and the basilisk... is a bad joke. Only the minifigure selection is good as always. But all in all I think it's clearly the worst set of this otherwise strong wave, and I rated it "poor". I'm glad the D2C Hogwarts turned out to include a vastly superior Great Hall and Grand Staircase Tower, but that also means I'm probably not going to start collecting the minifigure scale Hogwarts sets. *Edit: I wasn't really able to find a good picture, but the Great Hall is high and narrow and has a steep roof. This model, however, is short and very wide and its roof has a 45-degree angle. That's why it doesn't look like the Great Hall to me, even though some details may be more accurate than before.
  25. Looks like they opted for depicting the castle as it looked in Half-Blood Prince. Perhaps they wanted to avoid wasting bricks on the longer viaduct and enlarged entrance courtyard from Deathly Hallows / Fantastic Beasts. And the section behind the Grand Staircase Tower, including the clocktower, clocktower courtyard and hospital wing. The Astronomy tower is missing as well, so it doesn't even replicate the look of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter castle.
