That side view promotes anorexia! Here's what a healthy Lego plate looks like:

Bringing back classic themes as D2C sets of this size would be a great idea, and I hope they'll also consider doing something like this for Classic Space or Adventurers. But it should have been done separately from this Ideas set, because the model as submitted simply looks better than the official sets ever did. By the way, why are the cannons red again? They made them in brown for the PotC sets and it clearly looked better.

It may be a bit too wide, and not slim enough, but the length seems pretty accurate to me. In Episode 1 they look pretty big next to the battle droids, their current official length is 6.96 meters.

Were there any TIE pilots in ESB? I only remember the one who's seen for half a second when he flies out of his cockpit after crashing into an asteroid. And the Stormtrooper helmet is not the ESB version. -

I agree. I'm going to wait until there's a Clone Trooper or another good prequel character before buying any of these helmets. -

And yet it's not even an ESB stormtrooper helmet, since it has gray teeth. -

Could you take a screenshot of that? This is how it's currently built: -

They probably thought he was a sixth-year because he's sixteen. -
I rendered an illustrated wishlist of Separatist ships Lego have never made but should.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

I was hoping I could buy some of the new hood pieces that were introduced in this year's Star Wars sets to update my SW and Harry Potter minifigures. But first they were out of stock and now they've been removed completely... -
This time I simply wanted to build a minifigure-scale Delta-7 starfighter, since all the official models are oversized. 183 pieces!
-
This Techno Union interceptor, whose design seems to be related to Grievous' starfighter, was apparently seen on Utapau in episode 3... though I honestly couldn't find it. But at least it looks cool, is pictured in several reference books, and has never been released as an official set! 265 pieces, 3 minifigures (Battle Droid Pilot, Utapau warrior, Tion Medon).

@ mon-o-mat: It's probably not the sturdiest model. I used four 6L bars and two flexible hoses to connect the engines and hulls, those would have to be replaced with cross axles if you wanted to build it in real bricks and swoosh it around.

Is there a scientific explanation for why parts of stickers that are printed with certain colors - especially white - tend to crack and flake off earlier, while adjacent areas of different colors are still fine?

I liked they way the central sphere of the 75016 Homing Spider Droid is built, so I decided to use it for a very tiny episode 2/3 core ship. The included minifigures are an Utapauan warrior, a Battle Droid Pilot, and a Neimoidian captain: The upper half of the ship can be opened up to place the Neimoidian and Droid Pilot on the bridge: The lower half of the ship can be replaced by a version without the landing legs: In episode 3 the duel between Obi-Wan and Grievous starts inside a similar core ship, but this model is obviously too small to depict that scene. So I added a display base that fits the ship as well as their minifigures: Piece count is 218 (319 with the base and additional minifigures).

The 2009 set was $249.99, and it would probably be more expensive now. -
Unlike the Trade Federation Coreships and the Techno Union Hardcell Transports, this ship was only seen in the far background on Geonosis. Nevertheless I think it deserves to be made as an official set before other Separatist ships get their third or fourth remake... I included five minifigures: A Geonosis Battle Droid Pilot, a Super Battle Droid, Shu Mai of the Commerce Guild, Denaria Kee of the Corporate Alliance, and Quarren leader Tikkes. Also includes a base to hold the ship in upright in launch position. Unfortunately Shu Mai doesn't quite fit into her own ship, so I put a droid pilot in there. A box with six projectiles for the stud shooters can be attached on the underside. The model has 583 pieces.

The remakes of Grievous' starfighter and the AAT that have been announced for this summer seem like a boring choice to me. So I tried to build one of the many separatist ships Lego has never made as a set, at a small size that would allow it to be released as a regular 34,99 € set. The included minifigures are Wat Tambor of the Techno Union and Passel Argente of the Corporate Alliance, a Super Battle Droid, and a Geonosis battle droid pilot with a replacement torso to turn him into a regular BD. Also includes two freight containers, an energy cell, a tool, and a Count Dooku hologram. Above the fuel cells, where Anakin tells his clone pilot to aim in the movie, the ship can break apart. The uppermost part of the ship can be opened and contains a control panel for Wat Tambor or the pilot. If the control panel is removed this rooms also fits the freight boxes. Piece count is 218!

I measured the renders of the CG model from episode 1 in the "Star Wars Chronicles: The Prequels" book. But they're printed at a rather small size so the width and height may not be completely accurate. I don't have the 2015 model, but from what I can see it's about 15.5 cm long, 12.8 cm wide and 9 cm high. That would make it too small, but also way too high compared to its length. -

My calculations: Minifigure scale: Approx. 1:42 (3 studs = 1 meter) Length of CG model: 9.75 m Approx. length of 2009 model: 20.8 cm (should be 23.4 cm) Approx. width of CG model: 7.25 m Approx. width of 2009 model: 19.2 cm (should be 17.4 cm) Approx. height of CG model: 4.40 m Approx. height of 2009 model: 11.3 cm (should be 10.6 cm) You're right, it's too high and wide for its length.
